    *Let me know if you made it to the end of the video as I’ve left you a few of my ‘signature’ gems! 😉 What’s your favourite part?*
    This video is a follow up to my video *You’re Washing it Wrong* > ua-cam.com/video/gV2tmEyoj4s/v-deo.html
    I made this video because so many of you asked me for product recommendations for washing the vulva. I devised a classification system to make it easier to explain why I choose certain categories of products. I’ve tried to simplify it as much as possible. I hope you find this educational and valuable as always.

      @lastudentessa I use a knife to scrape the gel. Just apply in the shower as you would use a normal wash and rinse. The consistency is thick and slimy which gives it a 'soapy' feel when you apply it.

    I watched this video to see what was being said. When I went through puberty, there wasn’t a whole lot of educational content directed towards girls and more precisely, sexual health for girls. Luckily I have a mom who was always very open about these things and taught me how to wash my vulva properly. “Just water, a simple neutral soap and a gentle washing cloth if you want” is what she always said. To this day, even though I use scented gel washes on the rest of my body sometimes, I avoid using those on the pubic area and use the normal soap that works for me there. I’m happy to see that girls can now search things up like this on the Internet now ❤

    • @LynaLoopS
      @LynaLoopS Рік тому +17

      @@semoneg2826 You're totally right, and thoses infections usually comes by excessive hygiene or harsh hygiene products, killing the bacterial flora.
      Honestly, all those products shown in this videos are useless : water, 7ph body wash on the external parts, and coton underwears do the trick just well.
      Also, because of p0rn, people are obessed with totally hairless lady parts. It's called "lady" part for a reason, and not "3 years old" parts. Hairs are truly here for protection. Ppl complaining about their own body odors should just wash more and wear undergarments made out of coton. And stop to obsessively want to have private parts look like ones of a toddler. Trim it how you want, but at least keep it around the outer labias to protect what's under.
      Consumerism has washed our brains, convincing us to buy many useless products, and follow useless beauty trends that just harm our bodies on the long run. It also cause a lot of allergic reactions.

Outside of warm water flushes (douche) after menstruation cycles, I never understood why someone would put body soap IN their vagina. Loving your uploads as I’m having terrible troubles with my lady parts! I have never suffered with any issues within my 61 years on this earth apart from the last 11 years after I started my menopause. I have had that constant itch that drives me up the bloody walls day in day out. Night time is worse which wakes me up once I get off to sleep which is very rare as since I started the menopause when I hit 50 my sleep disruption is ridiculous! I can gone days without sleep, but I am also dead on my feet but sleep just won’t come. My itch is not internal or even inside the labia but on the outside, and I live on a daily dose of antihistamine and hydrocortisone cream to keep it at bay. Unless you have experienced “the itch” it is hard to describe, it literally drives you mad. You just have to scratch it, it’s so hard to explain. Please help us over 50’s or post menopausal women from going insane and giving us some form of quality of life once our ovaries decide to flee the nest. Many thanks ❤

    Hello! I’m totally new here. I’m 15 years old and sometimes worry if I’m treat my vulva and vagina the right way. I’ve already learned here that you should wash with soap, which I always thought you should never do. And I also have a question: what about underwear? I recently stopped wearing underwear at night, because I saw a few girls recommending this, and actually, it feels really freeing. What about the hygiene? Is it better to wear an underwear? I’m curious. Thanks for the help!❤

    Thank you for the video, I appreciate it so much. I've been using my regular shower gel (nivea, dove) for my intimate area. I haven't experienced any inconveniences ever. Would you still recommend using for example Dove baby instead of my regular shower gel? 🤔 Thank you.

    • @DrSimiAdedeji
      @DrSimiAdedeji  Рік тому +12

      Hi, in my previous video I used the word ‘soap’ generically (in lay terms) to mean a cleansing product in a bar form. However I had so any queries about ‘soap’ and also people didn’t understand what I meant by ‘soapless soaps.’ So in this video, I made a better distinction to clarify things.
      Soap (contains soap surfactants) - can be drying for the vulva. (I don’t recommend, because I think there are better options. In this video I call this ‘traditional soap’ because of my experience from my last video.)
      Cleansing bars (also called ‘soap’ by many people) contain synthetic detergents - these are milder on the vulval skin. These are called ‘soapless soaps’ if they only contain synthetic detergents and they are called combination bars if they combine soap surfactants + synthetic detergents. Hope this clarifies things and thank you for asking the question. 😊

    • @DrSimiAdedeji
      @DrSimiAdedeji  Рік тому +6

      Oh no! See below- I’ve just clarified. It can be confusing because different people use different names e.g soaps, cleansers, soapless soaps, cleansing bars, beauty bars, syndet bars, combination bars etc.. I hope I made it clearer below. I’ll also pin a comment above! 😊

    Hey doctor Simi,
    I took the second COVID-19 vaccine booster (this is in total my 4th COVID-19 vaccine). Since January I get my period and a week will past by but I get like discharge in a form of blood, then all of a sudden I will bleed. The same thing is happening to me now. I was folding clothes today and I suddenly felt sick and wet. I went to the bathroom. I am bleeding. I called my doctor and next week Monday I have an appointment.
    Being a woman is amazing but hard! My gosh 😩😩😩 Please make a video of irregular period.

    LOVE your channel! I have some moderate lichen sclerosis as well as more painful vulvodynia as I never could take estrogen after menopause due to breast cancer risk. I am 70. My actual vulva, however, is not particularly sensitive. Do those two conditions mean I would be in the category of reactive vulva anyway when it comes to the best product to use? I never knew one shouldn't use soap, this info comes a bit late, but still so good to know!

    A little off topic but I am a little bit concerned. So today I noticed that I was bleeding. Which is weird because that would mean my period came a week early. Looked it up and it said spotting. This is the first time this has ever happened to me. I'm not in any pain, still a virgin, 29 years old, not taking the medicine they mentioned. I narrowed it down to three reasons of why I am, hoping, spotting. 1. Stress. 2. Lack of sleep. 3. Hormones.
    I was wondering if any of you have been spotting around my age.

    I may try the Eucerin cleanser. I think I vacillate between super sensitive to reactive although I've never had eczema there. None of the traditionally marketed fem. hygiene washes have worked for me (of the ones that I've tried, available here in the states.) I have a question... what do you think of making our own fem. wash using mostly distilled water, with pure aloe water and very little castile soap? I assume the aloe is safe and gentle but I'm not sure about the castile soap. I've seen women share this recipe here on youtube (except they will also add a couple of drops of lavender essential oil which I can't see working for me.) I would love to know what you think. Do you have ideas of a great recipe? Yes I am trying to save money and go as simple as possible. Thank you again! You're a brilliant and kind Dr. and are helping womankind with your informative channel. God bless you! 💛
