Hey guys! In this video I discuss how feminine hygiene practices passed down by our moms, grandmas, and even great-grandmas may be negatively affecting our vaginal health. There seems to be this never ending rat-race women find themselves in as it pertains to vaginal odor and cleanliness. Let's talk about it!

@@carolspivey7199 Thank you so much! Because I've haven't been with anyone in a long time. So I was very confused 🤔. Ty because I think if you was my nurse, I would be better by now, and you taught us how to prevent it from coming back. I do drink a lot less coffee. And try to stay away from toxins, and drink water. Now I know not to be so clean. The vagina cleans out it self. So now I'm just using water inside and out. However. I was 13 when my foster mom taught me how to properly clean my crotch. She showed me how to squat or prop up a leg on the tub and lower myself down a bit to open my legs. Then use a fesh washcloth with a little mild soap and water to gently wipe my mons and between my vulva creases, then rinse thoroughly. Never douche either! Wash twice a day, morning when I wake up and before bed at night, and on hot days, sprinkle a little cornstarch baby powder in the panties to reduce moisture from sweat. Also change into fresh dry panties as many times as you need to in a day to keep dampness out of your crotch and prevent infection. I also learned to replace my stash of cotton panties every year and buy at least 20 pairs. Hope this helps anyone seeing this!

Cancer makes a body have different smells that are not always pleasant that's one of the reasons they are training dogs to find cancer in sick people. Also a doctor one time told me the worst thing a patient can do is take a shower or bath before the visit or brush their teeth with toothpaste and wear deodorant. Reason being the different smells from the body tell the doctor what is wrong bfore blood tests a lot of times.

Good job explaining this to women who may not know. I'm a nurse and listened to see what you had to offer. I knew most of this from being old, but also from training and some good gyn doctors over the years. I think we have been conditioned to artificial fragrances over the years in the form of douches, sprays, soaps, air fresheners, etc. We need to learn that we all have A SMELL unique to our own bodies and unless it's really foul, we should learn to love it. I'm of the opinion if it smells like something rotting and maybe looks bad or stuff is oozing somewhere, you may be infected with something. See a Doctor. Thanks for your video. I hope the women watching learn from this.

The sugar content in my body, which was wacko.... was causing infections, and odor. Once I started on a lower keto diet, and paid more attention to what I ate, made some lifestyle changes? She is spot on ! Its hard to hear for some after what we've been taught. In the 70's we had scented and color toliet paper plus Calgon bath powder. UTI went through the roof. We learned then that plain on water is all we needed, as our vagina is self cleaning. These bath / feminine products sold are all for profit. Drink enough water, yes if you have pubic hair you can clean with non fragrance soap and eat yogart.

I experimented with that and it was a really good decision. It made my natural smell sweet, buttery, and tangy, like fermented fruit. I started eating more yogurt and stopped wearing underwear. If I didn't want to smell like something I wouldn't eat it. I started eating more avocados, pineapples, mangos, almonds and cashews, etc. Also started taking Sea Buckthorn oil which really helped with lubrication. I never have those issues anymore!! A yeast infection could be a reason for a change in discharge & a (different) smell.
Discharge is normal , every woman has it, & it can change depending on the time of month, etc.
It can even get a different smell of you use certain products, never use anything that can mess with the ph balance which can cause bv. The comment above saying boric acid is right, it's a supplement you can take it f you have a ph imbalance. But it can have side effects, it's not for everyone. Food can change it too,
If the smell is very unpleasant & it looks different (colour, texture etc) you should go to your GP, or obgyn.
We have good bacteria in our discharge & certain things can 'kill' it all & cause yeast to grow.
      X.

I agree with some of what you’re saying but, any female would have an odor during her period or after when the period is going off and the first couple days of discharge. Women can have an odor urinating during the course of the day and going hours of not having a shower. We as female need to wash the out side of the vagina with some kind of soap or feminine wash but not to put anything inside the vagina to wash it. Having an odor doesn’t mean you have vaginosis, it means all day of sweating and not changing under wear and panty liner, urinating, discharge, having sexual intercourse and period days. Anybody not having a shower for hours wearing the same under will be smelly in the private area. I remember watching dr oz on Oprah show and he said the vagina is like a self cleaning oven it cleans itself but I know as women whatever comes out we have to wash the outside of the vagina to make it smell fresh.

I actually don't have an odor with every period...that's how I can usually tell when I'm off. The right Pads trap everything in it. If I can smell anything, I'm off. If I can't smell anything, I'm good. I had recurrent BV for years and the only thing that worked was the boric acid suppositories. You don't need soap, water does work just fine. And instead of using toilet paper, I used the all natural wet wipes with no scent. It took years for me to find a solution but what she said is the truth. Plus she's a medical professional so I would trust her opinion over anyone else's. I'm just commenting because I know what she's saying firsthand from experience.

Why do i smell like fish when i eat fish?
Trimethylaminuria (TMAU) is an uncommon condition that causes an unpleasant, fishy smell. It's also called "fish odour syndrome". Sometimes it's caused by faulty genes that a person inherits from their parents, but this isn't always the case. Body odor after eating seafood is typically related to a metabolic disorder. People with trimethylaminuria develop a fishy odor after consuming seafood because they can't break down the chemical trimethylamine that's naturally found in seafood. The odor will appear within a few hours

After years of rashes and pain, which I thought must be endless yeast infections, l finally saw a really kind gynaecologist who explained I have lichen sclerosis. It’s a skin condition and it’s MISERABLE. What do you use for this fishy condition.?? Every women needs to know about lichen sclerosis but very few do and suffer until they go bananas.

All them chemicals in them brands is causing our Sisters to get cancers etc Thank you for your post once again

Thank you for such an educational video! A ob -gyn told me years ago that the vagina is like a "self cleaning oven". I had a Bartholon cyst the size of a baseball in my vaginal wall . I have never used another douche or feminine spray, but I did not know that soap was not healthy. So thanks again for a valuable lesson.

OMG...I LOVE U!! I'm literally so grateful that there is finally a professional voice putting this info out there for young women or just women period...I feel very blessed to have had an informed mother, she passed in 2012, but she instilled this, as well as a plethora of knowledge over many subjects, well within me!! She was such a beautiful woman and it's awesome to finally hear her teachings to me throughout my life, not just professionally confirmed but BROADCASTED on a major social media platform. I cannot tell you the number of times that my peers, mostly females but men, too, at times have looked at me like I was just gross and completely batty when I would try to tell them that the vagina is, in my mother's words, "a self cleaning oven." ☺️💯💜 Well, I'm definitely #GANGGANG...YOU ARE AWESOME!! THANKS AGAIN LOVELY LADY!

This is very good information. Probiotics is good in avoiding bacterial infections and to much douching is not good either because you're washing away your natural secretions that fight off germs. The vagina is like a open wound... easily to get infection.

I'm 67 yrs young. I've used suppositories, white vinegar, feminine soaps, wet wipes ,Feminine sprays and feminine powders. Some of these are helpful in keeping you fresh and cut down on moisture but the one thing I find that definitely keeps odor in check is something that mothers have used but over looked. The Bidet bottle or peri bottle made from plastic. If you had a baby and got stitches then you know what I'm talking about. This is a game changer ladies. Sometimes I put a very small amount of white vinegar in my bottle for extra freshness. Since I started using this peri bottle I don't have any issues with bad odor or vaginitis. Wish I had stuck with this many moons ago.

@@zoemange6768 as a former nurse, I believe she was saying she uses a peri bottle with water to cleanse and sometimes adds a little vinegar to the water. This is a good idea since most bacteria causing odor comes from the outside, normal discharge or any urine/etc is washed away with every bathroom trip using this method.

Thank you. We will have women walking around smelling. Wearing masks will be necessary. We should not use soap inside the vagina. The tissue in the vagina is sensitive. Women better wipe around that area. Who are they kidding?
