But let’s be honest all generations have disrespectful kids and during that time everyone will say is this generation they have no respect. I am 39 years old and I am a Millennial and I have to catch myself from saying there’s something wrong with this generation. It’s not the generation is that adults forget how it used to be for them when they were younger in the things that went on and we get to relax in our parenting at times. Being a millennial we get blamed for a lot of things but I also remember in the 80s and 90s degeneration before me was shooting up everything as well and selling drugs throughout all of our neighborhoods and Robin and killing just as they do now. There’s nothing new under the sun
I'm 52 Rickey and I totally agree, I had Parents, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles that corrected us period. I grew up with structure and I would not change that, I raised my 33 year old daughter the same way. This younger generation dont have any structure at all and they are so disrespectful. The young woman show everything they have and wonder why men don't respect them because they don't respect themselves and the men want to be thugs and don't respect themselves either and want woman to take care of them, I have never seen anything like this new generation. Scared to go out because all they want to do is shoot out here. We need old school parenting back.
Agree 100% with you!! 👏🏻 Also this..when my family told me to do something, I did it. No questions asked or I’d be in big trouble. I even had to shovel cow manure for the garden, I pushed a wheelbarrow all over a cow field and slung poo over in it. I also chipped bricks, and once in the Army I had to cut the grass with a nail cutter.
Old school is the only way . The new generation doesn't care and its getting worse. Thank u for saying that.

Rickey, you are absolutely right! That is where I messed up with my second born son. Now, he thinks he is entitled to things he has not worked for nor earned. I just pray that God delivers him and show him the truth! Not only my child but all our children! I wish I knew you personally way back when my kids were younger because I would have asked you for your help/guidance. Being a single mom of boys definitely ain’t easy!

They are a new breed, and that’s what I call them…#NewBreeds. I remember my mom crying cause I whipped my son, I looked at her and said “ the way you BEAT me?, he’ll be alright. He’s not going to grow up and beat me”. He’s 6’8”, 31, and loves and respects his momma, me. With all the hell he took me through, I’m thankful he lived to come back and apologize to me. WA state gives kids legal rights but the parent are responsible for the child’s actions? WTF? I❤️U Rickey

I agree 100%. This will be the most medicated group of young people. Some parents don't want you to correct their children until they are in trouble. I work in the school system see this everyday.
I had to come back to this to get some courage to stick to cutting my 17 year old off Financially wise…. She literally called me Toxic cause I want let her do things she want & make her do her chores when I want them done calling me strict it hurted me so much 😢… I do everything for my daughter …..please please stick to ur parenting

This is a community problem, not just generational. This has gone on for DECADES!!! Everytime, a new generation comes the old one says the current one is the worst. I remember being in the mall, concerts and running from shootings during the 90s REGULARLY!! The foolishness was just never on camera.
Nothing wrong with giving children options. Gotta teach em about respect, accountability, responsibility and consequences too. I grew up old school and disagree with not explaining. There's nothing wrong with asking a question (not everything, but).... All that "respect grown ups", "listen to your elders", "cuz I said so" is the reason a lot of secrets and molestation happens. My principle: Question everything and everyone respectfully. No one is above inquisition. Idgaf who it is.

Right Rickey... I jack my 3 and 6 yr olds up now! Everyone compliment my girls on their behavior and manners. I don't play! I tear butts up too when necessary... I took my girls to the poor home of a family 9 (3 adults, 6 kids) in a two room house in Jamaica.The youngest was a year younger than my youngest. So they can see how blessed they are and they donated shoes, clothes, books, crayons, etc. out of their stuff to the kids!

I used to get my hand slapped when I worked at a school because I would demand all students to be respectful to me and the staff. What's really bad is where we have adults that accept this from this generation. I'm 45 and my grandmother has been dead for over 20 years, but if I even thought about doing half the stuff these kids do today, she would jump out the grave and light my butt up.

I have nieces and nephews in their 20's and they're the most respectful kids. It all starts at home, and I thank God every day for the way I was raised. My nieces and nephews are being raised the same way, which is why they respect their elders and their pants are always up on their butts. Rickey, everything you said was on point!

Thanks Rickey Smiley, 30 years ago discipline methods changed for the worst.
We know our children's makeup because they have our DNA. Disciplining sometimes may not be easy when you have to issue out raw - life -lessons. Sometimes others may not even agree with you. One child might need little to no discipline. While another child is continuous. That's why 2 parents are needed! When one is tired you got back up. Children may not understand; parents have to work jobs they hate to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table. Because old school parents couldn't walk away from a job until they had another. "And" when my Dad told me "No" that was the end of the conversation. There was no "Why? Although some people brag about how perfect their children are? Surprise..surprise, they just didn't get caught? Being a parent is the hardest job you will ever have. When it goes right it is a beautiful thing. Unfortunately, there is no Manuel or Guide that comes with children....

It starts at home. Not only that, the structure in which the home is built. God has given us a blueprint of how a family and home are to operate and function. A lot of it grew more out of the 90s and up generations, which were full of rebellion and entitlement. No one owes you nothing but to love and teach you, and one way to do that is through discipline because other people (once a village) is not going to do it. Then the police are itching to shoot to kill and want kids to scream abuse, but most kids nowadays have deaf ears and refuse to listen to wisdom

Our Society has really become so sickening, you can't discipline these kids without somebody telling you how to parent. They think they have rights to your house, and you become a prisoner in your own home. These young people will murder you in your own home.
