I think there is a major point missing in this video: Namely, that almost all of these territorial disputes have not simply been created by China’s Communist Party, but have been inherited (and later exacerbated) from the Chinese Republic and to some degree from the Qing era. These border conflicts are the result of the absolute mess that we call the 20th century, and unfortunately the video doesn’t really reflect that. By watching, one instead gets the feeling that these disputes have mainly been orchestrated by the modern Chinese government. And while there are plenty of gross violations of international laws and norms that one can lay onto Beijing’s feet, these border disputes have a far more complicated story than that. I also think that this outlook on China’s border conflicts actually minimizes the gravity of the situation, because one gets the feeling that if China was to become a democracy overnight, these problems would go away. Unfortunately, they would not, which may be exemplified by the fact that Taiwan holds almost the same, if not larger territorial claims. Taiwan also argues that the 9 (or 11) dash line is valid - and it has shown little interest to compromise on this stance thus far. And while I understand the message of the video was to make a point about the political weight of creating maps, its still important to at least hint at the complexity and debatable story behind these disputes - even if there is no time to explain them in a short video, which is of course understandable.
@@huangec ^That is outdated information. Taiwan no longer claims this, and hasn't for some time. Also, Taiwan is not allowed to change its claims without China getting very, very angry. No one in Taiwan wants to claim with a straight face that Manchuria is part of Taiwan, but the moment they don't claim that, they are saying that they aren't China, and then China threatens to kill everyone on the island.

The Russian island claim is very easy to explain: it's a test to see how Russia will respond. Russia has a lot of territory in Manchuria that it took from China during the century of humiliation. China wants it back. So they are testing Russia to see how strongly they can respond here and will use that info to determine how to push their other claims
Myanmar-China fence was built to mostly prevent drug trade in that region. During WW2, ROC sent troops to Myanmar to fight Japanese, but as KMT was defeated by the commies soon after WW2, some of KMT's land forces retreated into the forest in northern Myanmar. After KMT fled to Taiwan, it couldn't afford maintaining supply and logistics of this military presence in Myanmar, and (I might be wrong here) subsequently decommissioned these regiments. However, instead of letting them to surrender to PRC or bring them to Taiwan, they just left them in Myanmar. These militants became the local warlords and started to grow poppies to finance/support themselves. Note, these aren't from creditable sources because it's a dark history for both sides. The true stories are covered by both sides. Only rumors and tales told by people from that region.
But there are hundreds of thousands of drug dealers, illegal gambling, smuggle and even deal of organs are prevailing in this area, I knew some people who live near this border and is constantly harassed by warlords' troops and threatened, it's just a place of chaos, it's common to have small war there. As China is extremely strict on drugs due to its past history more than 100 years ago, the wall makes it harder for drugs to go into China as well as smuggle.
Because it's important to them, Huh selfish or do they know what havoc can be tested and proven as a break down in a countrys security safety and the people who are affected
Based on my understanding, those soldiers left/abandoned in Myanmar eventually moved to northern Thailand many decades ago (might have been kicked out by Myanmar). A lot of their descendants now live in Mae Salong and I visited it in 2012. I stumbled across a school which taught children textbooks donated by the ROC government.
Well you can't blame china. Why should they hold themselves to certain rules and border rights if the same thing happening in israel is ok by the west but if anyone else does it, it is a shame. Arrogance..
Fails to mention China is not alone in building military islands in disputed waters. Vietnam has built more military islands in Philippine Waters. Fails to mention the 11 Dash line of Taiwan. Where Chinas 9-10 Dash line comes from.
According to your interpretation that the tenth dash line was added recently in this update. However, when I searched for maps published in 2019 and 2016, both maps already showed the tenth dash line next to Taiwan. Therefore it’s not a sudden change but a constant effort for Beijing to acclaim Taiwan as part of China.
10:00 If I remember correctly, when the Machanon line was drawn, Tibet said that it'd agree to the land transfer only if the beijing government was ok with it The Beijing government was not ok with it, but the british occupied anyway
This border line was never recognized by the Qing Government of China, the Republic of China and the present China, which is a shameful British conspiracy.
@@chasedavis9707 The Tibetan local government has never been recognized by the Republic of China or the People's Republic of China. The Qing emperor clearly wrote that "the emperor will lead the The ruling power is publicized to the whole country, and it is designated as a republic and constitutional state...The complete territories of the five ethnic groups of Manchu, Han, Mongolian, Hui and Tibetan are still combined into one great Republic of China". Therefore, the treaty signed unilaterally by the unrecognized local separatist government certainly does not have any legal effect. In addition, for the Simla Convention on which the McMahon Line is based, the British and Tibetan plenipotentiaries signed a bilateral declaration that stated that the convention would be binding on themselves and that China would be denied any privileges under the convention until it signed it. Without Chinese acceptance and also for its conflict with the Anglo-Russian Convention, the Government of India regarded the signed bipartite treaty in 1915 as "for the present invalid". In other words, the line was not subject to restrictions including China, Tibet, UK and India

All the viewpoints you presented in the video take an opposing stance toward China and depict China as being guilty. It's common for such videos to propagate hostility towards China and attract attention with this preconceived pov. For instance, regarding the southern Tibet issue, you never mention that the agreement was signed between the local Tibetan government and the UK, which China views as illegal because a local government does not have the authority to cede land to a foreign country. Tibet was no doubt a region of China in 1914 and you were aware of it but tried to avoid the fact which was crucial to the judgement. Don't act like being subjective with tones but show the proof selectively.
I’d definitely love a video on that fence with Myanmar, I’d be super interested to see how it’s effecting peoples that have mingled and traded for years and now have to give that up for the sake of control.

Second, the territory of the East India Company that India illegally inherited has never belonged to India in history. Even India was the only regime to annex a sovereign country after World War II. It's weird that China even makes such a big deal about these pockets as it's not like they even consider the people who may be in these regions to be Chinese or would treat them as such
Ancient expansionism mindset which seems to infect every old ass authoritarian. These people are too dangerous, how they holding fast to power in modern times is just too mind boggling.
China see things in long term. They have no trouble making deals that lasts 100 years if it means winning out in the end. Those oppressed minorities would be chinese after a century or two of reeducation.
Sadly the people in pockets have little choice than to adapt when sandwiched between two giant nations, no matter which nation is in charge. I can assure you at least one of the disputed regions(South Tibet/Arunachal Pradesh) belonged to none of them just a century or so ago, it wasn't even proper Tibet, but now is Indian thanks to the British. It could easily have been other way too, and the people living in the region would have equally adapted.
As for the nine-dash line in the South China Sea, you should know that when China drew the nine-dash line here, there were no countries around, they were all colonies.😂
You definitely should cover about China-Myanmar border. The border is infamous among local Burmese. During Covid-19 China shut down border checkpoints and trade posts without informing anyone which led to the financial crisis of local farmers and traders. And China sometimes built border fences and barriers within Myanmar's territory. The area is also known for gambling, drug production, human trafficking and arms trafficking.
Yunnan province of China is viewed as the "Gateway to Southeast Asia and South Asia" and it is now officially promoted as such. There are many Burmese people living and working in Yunnan who speak Mandarin and those border areas are a blend of Burmese and Chinese culture, you see it with the usage of both Chinese and Burmese scripts. You can find many Burmese Muslim men selling jade to Chinese customers and Burmese are the largest foreign group in China as of 2020. In northern Myanmar, in the city of Mandalay, there are also many Yunnanese from China living and working in the city to the point that Mandalay has become increasingly "Chinese" in atmosphere.
The border between China and Myanmar has always been in a dangerous zone, and the danger from Myanmar has always been greater than that from China. The construction of border walls is to protect each other. Peace and security are what each other hopes for. The construction of border walls is also out of helplessness.

There had been human trafficking happening around the boarder. Many Chinese men and women are kidnapped to Myanmar and subsequently into force labor or even killed. 3. Drug smuggling. India's glorious history: India has territorial disputes and historical issues with several countries in South Asia, and here are some specific cases between India and its neighbors: Pakistan: In 1947, the British issued the Mountbatten Plan, implementing the partition of India and Pakistan, and Pakistan was divided into eastern and western parts. After the first Indo-Pakistani war in October 1947, India controlled about two-thirds of Kashmir's land and three-quarters of its population. East Pakistan also gained independence from Pakistan as Bangladesh with the support of India. Sikkim: After the independence of India in 1947, the British withdrew from Sikkim and Sikkim became officially independent. But India sent troops to invade Sikkim in 1949 and installed an Indian as prime minister to control Sikkim's internal affairs. Sikkim was annexed by India in 1975. Bhutan: Bhutan claims to be the happiest country in the world and has signed a Permanent Treaty of Peace and Friendship with India, which stipulates that Bhutan's external relations are "guided" by India and includes Bhutan in its sphere of influence. Nepal: Nepal covers an area of 147,000 square kilometers and has a population of 28.98 million. India and Nepal signed the India-Nepal Treaty of Peace and Friendship, and obtained the privilege of sending officers to train the Nepalese army. Later, India pressed Nepal, leading to a long-standing border dispute between Nepal and India. Bangladesh: Formerly "East Pakistan", after the partition of India and Pakistan in 1947, East Pakistan became independent from Pakistan with the support of India to form Bangladesh. Myanmar: India had plans to expand into Burma and in 1962 conducted military operations in the Assam region of Burma. Sri Lanka: India has intervened in Sri Lanka's civil war and internal affairs. Maldives: India has troops in the Maldives. In addition, India has infiltrated Sri Lanka and interfered in the internal affairs and border issues of countries such as Maldives. These actions show India's expansionist ambitions and aggressive foreign policy in South Asia.

@2plus2equals98 Yes, even in legends & mythology. The cultural bonds are too deep. We are a two weeks away from the coming Diwali (Deepavali, meaning an array of lights). The legend (mythology) is this. The region around River Brahmaputra was known as Prag`jyotisha pura (Eastern Zodiacal town) ruled by a demons king, Naraka. Lord Krishna to subdue him & release the people from his tyranny went there riding his mount, the eagle "Garuda" (now the mascot of Indonesian Airways). His favourite wife "Sathya" said she'd accompany him. So, the couple went & engaged in a battle with Naraka`asura, who was well-protected by the forces of nature. After a while Krishna was hit by an arrow that made him unconscious. Then a furious Sathya took the bow & shot a row of arrows that killed Naraka`asura. Then Krishna was revived. It could be that Naraka`asura gazing at Sathya, he has forgotten about the battle he was engaged in. The killing of Naraka`asura is observed a day before Diwali, with fire-crackers & such explosions to signify the war. He freed sixteen thousand & odd young "dames" the dead king imprisoned. Krishna told them to go to their respective families. But the crowd of young girls raised a cry & said "we're not going home". Krishna asked "why?". They said they wouldn't be accepted by their parents, being prisoners of someone & that they didn't accept. It is a matter of their honour or chastity. There was an argument. Finally, the girls pointed a way out that would restore their esteem (or respect). They wanted Krishna (who has 8 wives) to marry them all, as that would also enhance their status of Krishna's wives that the people would respect. Krishna did that & returned home to Dwaraka, some 2000 km to the west. Flippant & even lewd comments are made on this act of Krishna without realising the honour that was restored to the girls. Even now Krishna cult is predominant in Brahmaputra valley & in Manipur (Jewel city) predominantly . Another character, the main hero in Maha`Bharata war, Arjuna (comparable to Ulysses in Greek mythology) committed a small mistake & as penance had to leave home (& his four brothers). He came to Manipur & the princess there, Ulupi fell in love with him & married. A son was born to them, even. After the stipulated time Arjuna returned home. The war started soon after.

It's very very generalised. North-East region is generalised as a single whole, when it is not that way historically. Far from it. Even Arunachal Pradesh itself has different regions with different historical narratives, some associated with India(mainly the plains of current Northern Assam), but many if not most are not. The northwestern corner has historical ties with Tibet, that is what the media likes to focus on mostly, but that's only a corner of Arunachal Pradesh. In fact, most of the population reside on the inner central+eastern regions, which were independent and self-governed prior to British entry(often forcibly). Similarly, association with the Kirat very vague; they could have been Nepal, they could have been Bhutan, they could have been any Himalayan mountain dwelling group. That didn't provide the India the authority over it. I mean that in the nicest of ways. The true fact remains none of Tibet, China, or British India had a full control over the region initially. It was mostly independent. Tibet had trade ties, but was never in political control of the current whole region. British India made the first move to politically capture the land, they agreed the boundary with Tibet in a treaty which China pulled out of; British India marched ahead regardless of China's withdrawal. @@venanziadorromatagni1641 What is missed, is the terrain in this flat plain is above 15,000 feet (4.5 km) high, unlike any other place on continents elsewhere. It creates huge physiological (& psychological) problems. In all wars, from times immemorial till modern times, it is the troops on land, that hold the land for that country. 1962 war proved it. Air force's role is secondary & as pressure point sea-warfare is tertiary. It is the will of men on ground to hold that ground that is crucial. Galwan incident amply proved it. At these altitudes (& in winter particularly) aircraft may not take off & tanks may not move. The will hold the land was not there in the Indian Army in 1962 (though a heroic bunch of 105 defying orders of superior officers)held the ground at Rezang la. In the heap of bodies taken as dead, 5 soldiers were found alive. This time too PLA made repeated forays to take it but couldn't (his time Tibetans with Indian Army did it). India still possesses tactical advantages. Helicopters that are taken for granted, to land or pick soldiers & supplies, as made in the West are useless (Chinook & Apache of American make have service ceiling of 6km - there is no need to for them - while terrain demands higher performance). India saw that need & has to design own helicopters. In 1962, C-113 packet couldn't land or take off. Indian aircraft factory put a "jet pack" on top, to compensate for lower performance at these high altitudes. I heard that 18 ton "light" tanks with parachutes tied to each corner were dropped from air, as it is insane to ask for roads here. Many of them got reduced to heaps of metals & were cannibalised for those who were still mobile. It is a multi-dimensional warfare here, that if I start writing it'll become a book. Let someone write (not me). In these skirmishes (by the dozen) both sides can't use fire-arms as per pacts made as PRC claims that India is a friendly country after 4 decades of bloody incidents (only in 1990s the then Indian Defence minister, George Fernandes declared that PRC is India's No.1 enemy relegating Pakistan to a minor place). So one sees a comic show of troops from both sides doing Sumo-wrestling at altitudes higher than M. Denali - at times with a contrived smile on faces. It is painful that reminds Albert Einstein prophecy of WW III. It seems that one of the goals in their 5 year plans is (how much)territory acquired that year from the neighbour ! Chinese are inscrutable & have no doubts about it.

@giriraj408 What you are saying is not believable i.e., 200 chinese soldiers attacking 500 Indian soldiers, killing 100 of them. How would your brother know about how many died in the Chinese side? He should either be a general or should have been standing behind and counting for that. In India, news comes out if soldiers die. Chinese had an upper hand because they carried clubs with nails where as, Indian army was weaponless.
In fact, according to the reliable information I have received, the Chinese army did injure many soldiers in this confrontation. Of course, many Indian soldiers were also injured. However, when it comes to treating the wounded, China does not have better medicine, while India has a magical medicine. This thing can make injured Indian soldiers recover immediately. I checked a lot of information and found that this is a magical potion, but I can only know that the name of this potion is "hengheshui". The formula of the potion is very mysterious. This is what I know. All the news you know. May "hengheshui" bless Indian soldiers

The South China Sea 9-dash Line was drawn by the previous regime in China, which was called the Republic of China. It lost the civil war and fled to Taiwan Province. That's right, the South China Sea 9-dash Line was drawn by the government that currently controls Taiwan Island. That regime once claimed that they are the real China while mainland is not real China. Even now their legal map includes the whole Mongolia and Chinese Mainland.

Great video, as always Johnny. I do notice one small flaw, though. In the South China Sea sections, you are accurate that China also has disputes with other countries bordering the South China Sea: Brunei, Malaysia, the Philippines and Vietnam. However, there is one other country that also has disputes with the Nine-dash Line: Indonesia (my home country). The disputes with the other countries are mostly regarding the Spratly Islands, but not with Indonesia. So, Indonesia’s EEZ in the South China Sea overlaps with the Nine-dash Line, which is the source of the tension; I watched a video when Indonesia was planting an oil rig, presumably close to the Nine-dash Line (whereas it is within Indonesia's own waters), and that Chinese vessels were sent to patrol the site.

Yet, in 1950s, PRC built a road across Aksai Chin (that the Indian authorities hadn't got even a smell of it), nomenclature-d as G219 in their maps - to connect Tibet with Xinjiang. The issue of southern Tibet’s historical status is actually very simple. How would the international community view this if local authorities in Catalonia, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Quebec or even California signed an agreement with another country to demonstrate their independence without the central government giving up their sovereignty? Is the so-called contract signed by the British and some Tibetan officials in 1914 meaningful? Do local governments have complete and independent diplomatic powers? All the territory of the Qing Dynasty was handed over to the Republic of China in the form of concession in 1912, and the power of the Republic of China representing China was handed over to the People's Republic of China by the international community in 1971. These are common diplomatic common sense without any objection. In 2003,even the 14th Dalai Lama, anti-communists and the most important Tibetan separatists, also said that "Arunachal Pradesh(The name given to southern Tibet of China under Indian rule) was actually part of Tibet".

This video characterizes China as a land grabber, which is not surprising. I think even people with scant knowledge of China know that premodern China has never been a land-grabbing belligerent. What they really mean is that Communist China is a land grabber. But is it? Communist China's territorial management has been studied by Taylor Fravel, a political scientist at MIT, who published a book called "Strong Borders, Secure Nation," concluding that Communist China is a land conceder and has not land-grabbed any of its neighbors. Taylor Fravel is a China hawk, so even he has admitted that China is not a land grabber. There is a land grabber by the way and that is India. Today, the territory of India is much bigger than it was in 1947, and all the land it acquired was through invasion and subjugation. You should find out how India's 'Seven Sister States' became part of India. Talking about maps in 1912, the first full year of the Republic of China (nowadays usually referred to as Taiwan) after the fall of the Qing dynasty, the United States National Geographic Society dedicated an issue on China and with the issue it included a very large and detailed foldout map of China. If you go to the area close to Bhutan, you can see the town of Tawang and the surrounding area, which is clearly within China. Today, Tawang is occupied by India, and the surrounding area is called Arunachal Pradesh by India. In fact, as late as the late 1940s after World War II, the flag of the Republic of China (nowadays usually referred to as Taiwan) was flying high in Tawang. Today, it is the Indian flag that is flying there. And India is still promoting the narrative that India is a hapless victim of an expansionist China.

One of the most disgusting part about this ongoing conflict is, in an attempt to show China's supremacy they almost always downplay the deaths of it's soldiers, so many cases where Chinese soldiers just leave their own comrade's dead bodies and run away. Indian army carries all these bodies and tries to contact China every time to come and get their fallen soldiers, but they refuse claiming they aren't their soldiers but "terrorists", Indian army proceeds to give them a proper burial too.

Taiwan claims everything that PR China claims (that includes all the territorial disputes with India, Bhutan etc.), it even claims Mongolia and various parts of Russia, Myanmar and Tajikistan. The difference is that the current party in power now views Taiwan as a merely being an island and Taiwan recognises the Mongolian passport. Officially speaking, Taiwan claims all of PRC and surrounding land and waters belonging to other Asian countries and it is known as the Republic of China (ROC) because it claims to be the legitimate "China" while the PRC recognises itself as the legitimate "China". However, this is only still practiced because if Taiwan (ROC) were to ever officially recede claims to all of those areas it would give the message to the PRC that Taiwan is relinquishing its claims to the title of the "legitimate China" and so it would officially be seen as a sign that Taiwan (the island) is a "breakaway state" within the PRC (because the PRC claims the island of Taiwan and that because Taiwan has its own government). That would give the PRC the right to invade Taiwan in order to maintain territorial integrity and no other country in the world will be able to say anything because Taiwan is a part of China as the ROC would no longer exist.

Thank you for your video, which made me realize that my country also has an aspect that is not so mild and moderate. This comment is a bit long. I have lived on the border and have heard some things about border demarcation, but I am not a professional, and I cannot investigate these matters as deeply as you do. I can only understand the formation of a country's map based on my personal knowledge. The boundaries of every country have been pieced together over the course of a long history, rather than being divided or granted by some ancient god or prophet. Our history textbooks tell us that in our country's history spanning thousands of years, territorial expansion has mainly resulted from tribal wars, conquests, and dynastic wars. Wherever the army advanced, they left garrisons, and the imperial court sent officials to manage those areas. In the changing of dynasties, territories were inherited or annexed from defeated opponents. You must be familiar with China's Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), a part of the Mongol Empire, as well as the Qing Dynasty (1636-1912). The rulers of these dynasties were not the "strong ethnic Han" you often think of as being in China. They ruled over a territory much much larger than present-day China. You must have also studied the history of Tibet or the Tibetan (Tubo) Empire. Interestingly, the Tibetan Empire once ruled over what is now Tibet, part of Xinjiang, Mongolia, Yunnan, Qinghai, and Sichuan. They also ruled over Nepal, Bhutan, and northern India. The Tibetan Empire was defeated by the Mongols during their rule over China and became a part of China's territory. Before the Yuan Dynasty, for example, during the Tang Dynasty, China had diplomatic relations with Tibetan Empire. But during the Yuan Dynasty, the Tibetan Empire disintegrated, and Tibet became part of China. The Chinese imperial court established government offices in Tibet for regional administration, while also maintaining control or autonomy over the Tibetan region by conferring and recognizing the status of religious leaders. China's central dynasties have also ruled and governed various regions at different times, including northern Vietnam, Goryeo (Korea), and even as far as the Luzon Islands. Compared to other countries in the world, China's history of central dynasties is a fascinating and powerful presence. I am also curious about this. Over the millennia-long history starting from the recorded Shang Dynasty, China's rulers changed continuously, but substantial division, such as the famous Three Kingdoms period or the chaotic Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, always ended with unifying under a grand empire. Every ruler, including various northern and western ethnic groups of the time, sought to control the Central Plains fervently. The ultimate victors would claim to inherit the "orthodoxy" or "Entrusted by the heavens, and everlasting prosperity" and always maintain the entirety of the territory. Territorial disputes must have been caused by certain historical circumstances. However, regardless of how complex history may be, and regardless of how the land was divided, the integration of the people within those designated territories of two nations, no country will disregard or abandon its own territory. While I'm not well-versed in facts, I believe the British Empire wouldn't agree to the independence of Northern Ireland or its union with Ireland, nor would they give up Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, or Saint Helena. Similarly, the United States wouldn't allow Guam and Alaska to become independent just because of their geographical distance, and they wouldn't entertain questions about the sovereignty of these territories from other countries. Border demarcation is undoubtedly an immensely complex matter, but it is a result of historical military conquests and actual governance, not based on religion, cultural traditions, or the will of the local population. It certainly doesn't change due to the influence of third parties. The history of Tibet is indeed complex and has evolved over the centuries. After Tibet came under the influence of the Yuan Dynasty, it became part of China's territory. The Chinese imperial court established administrative offices in Tibet and also recognized the status of religious leaders to maintain control over the region. However, the issue of Tibet's status and sovereignty became more contentious in the late Qing Dynasty and during British colonial rule in India. The situation in Tibet became further complicated in the early 20th century with political changes in China and the 13th Dalai Lama's attempts to assert Tibetan autonomy. The Dalai Lama's flight to India in 1959 marked a significant turning point, as he sought asylum in India, and the issue of Tibetan independence became more prominent on the international stage. Regarding your curiosity about why only China is often viewed as the "bad guy" in this context, it's important to note that the Tibet issue is a highly sensitive and complex geopolitical matter with multiple perspectives. Different parties, including the Chinese government, Tibetan activists, and other countries, hold various viewpoints on this issue. Each has its own reasons and arguments, which is why there isn't a single universally accepted narrative. As for Sikkim, it was a small kingdom that became an Indian protectorate in 1950 and later merged with India as a state in 1975, following a referendum. So why doesn't India let them regain their independence? We all know ,The circumstances surrounding Sikkim's integration with India were different from Tibet in China. The Sikkim issue doesn't have the same international attention or disputes as the Tibet issue. You also made a video about "whether China will invade Taiwan. " and I can anwser it for you, I can tell you, most educated people in mainland China believe that there will not be a war in the Taiwan Strait. Official documents also state the intention to seek a peaceful resolution to the Taiwan issue while not renouncing the use of force. We know that Taiwan has been in a state of de facto autonomy and possesses elements of independence such as its own currency, passports, and political system. However, I'm not sure if you're aware that Taiwan, also known as the Republic of China (ROC), has a constitution that includes the mainland Chinese territory, and its official maps, similar to those published by PRC, also encompass what you referred to as the "nine-dash line" in the South China Sea. The nine-dash line was indeed drawn in 1947, and it's a matter that has received international attention and disputes. Taiwan, also maintains a military presence in the South China Sea, and its government has not renounced claims to territories such as the Diaoyu Islands (also known as the Senkaku Islands). Isn't it interesting? There's an interesting knowledge. The Chinese Civil War that began in 1948 did not result in a formal ceasefire agreement, and technically, the two sides, the PRC and the ROC, have not officially ended the conflict. The Taiwan Issue is an internal matter by CHINA. I have been watching your videos for quite a long time and learnt different perspectives on various political, religious, and cultural issues. While your stance is "neutral," I believe it's more of a selective neutrality. You can't treat assumptions like" Taiwan, Tibet, and Xinjiang is an independent country" as facts to support your viewpoint. Education is indeed a good thing, When you come to China, you'll find that many young people are not as ignorant and easily manipulated as you might think. We won't blindly believe CCP is flawless, nor will we view them as dictatorial or evil. We have a clear understanding of everything that has happened with CCP from its inception to the present, including its Internal conflicts, Cultural Revolution, War with Vietman, Falungong, and more. These are not secrets, and there is nothing concealed. I used to worry about so-called insider secrets and conspiracies, and I used to feel angry about injustices. But as I've seen more and more information from different perspectives, I have come to respect the government even more. Even though we have various regulations, it doesn't mean there is no freedom of speech. We can choose to believe or not to believe. China is a unique country, and the Chinese people are unique citizens. When you read Chinese history and culture, you'll find that for thousands of years, the majority of Chinese people have not been very enthusiastic about politics. There is a group of people responsible for the operation of the government and the country, and some of them represent the interests of the people. So, attempting to guide the people through conspiracies and political movements to oppose the government and attain what is called freedom is nearly futile unless the government becomes so corrupt that the people can't survive.
You don’t mention the most crucial point? All the maps, territories, and territorial claims of mainland China, including the 11-dash line and other map rules, are legally inherited from the Autumn Leaf Begonia map of the Republic of China government. Moreover, compared to the territorial claims of the Autumn Leaf Begonia map (Outer Mongolia, Outer Northeast, Outer Northwest), the disputed territorial claims of mainland China are less than 1% of the Autumn Leaf Begonia map’s territorial claims. According to the principles of international law, the People’s Republic of China government is the legal successor of the Republic of China, and has the right to claim all the inheritance of the Republic of China, including territory, population, state machinery, and state assets. The biggest problem now is that the Republic of China in Taiwan has not been completely wiped out. When they completely give up their sovereignty claims over the Republic of China, the CCP, as the legal successor of the Republic of China, will also be normal to carry out the final recovery of the Republic of China’s territory and population.
It's only an issue for immigrants wanting to move illegally into China or refugees wanting to escape the ongoing civil war in Myanmar. Another reason I can think of is Myanmar's increasing Opium poppy cultivation. Drugs and drug trafficking are not tolerated in China given its history. China does not take illegal immigrants, refugees, or drugs into its territory.
- "The nine-dash line is illegal under international law! The fact means nothing! " --"I agree, and the same, according to international law, Taiwan has never been independent, it has always been part of China" - "No no no for Taiwan, we don't talk about international law, the fact is more important, it is about recognition of sovereignty" --"Okay if you talk about recognition of sovereignty, how about Israel?" -"Damn let's go back to international law"

The other side of the same statement is that the leaders of victim-countries of PRC, never ever look at the maps. To win over PRC, one needs to be heavily map-savvy.

Taiwan actually claims Mongolia as part of China.
That is why the ROC still claims all of the mainland, Mongolia (not as much anymore tho), Tibet, Xinjang, and some Japanese-administered islands.

@@chasedavis9707 The Tibetan local government has never been recognized by the Republic of China or the People's Republic of China. In addition, for the Simla Convention on which the McMahon Line is based, the British and Tibetan plenipotentiaries signed a bilateral declaration that stated that the convention would be binding on themselves and that China would be denied any privileges under the convention until it signed it. India's glorious history:
India has territorial disputes and historical issues with several countries in South Asia, and here are some specific cases between India and its neighbors:
Pakistan: In 1947, the British issued the Mountbatten Plan, implementing the partition of India and Pakistan, and Pakistan was divided into eastern and western parts.
Thanks Johnny from the Filipino people, for continuing to keep this issue on the forefront of the public eye.

Saying India's only claim to land is "some British representative drew a line" undermines the historical and cultural claim they have to that land. 9:57
@2plus2equals98
Yes, even in legends & mythology.
The war started soon after.
so the Indian claim is a myth?
That line still was agreed between Tibet and India tho, meaning it's legit, who cares if Tibet is controlled by China now? If borders stopped existing just because it got taken over by another country then we should redraw a lot of borders
@@stevenwu2055it’s not a myth. It’s written in one of the most known poem within the eastern hemisphere which also happens to be the longest. It’s symbolic to the time and history when events occurred in the lands we know today. Some places have had their names changed but the book outdates any of the new ones.
And hence the current mess.

China illegally occupied those territories. Its called expansionism. China has a fever dream of Imperialism while being an incompetent power.

I once read somewhere that Aksai Chin has (or maybe had, because of Climate Change) the only mountain pass road between Tibet and Xinjiang that is passable all year around. I can somehow understand how Beijing would be a tad paranoid about loosing control over a strategic connection between two provinces where its reputation in the general population might have, to put this tactfully, some room for improvement.

What is missed, is the terrain in this flat plain is above 15,000 feet (4.5 km) high, unlike any other place on continents elsewhere.
It seems that one of the goals in their 5 year plans is
(how much)territory acquired that year from the neighbour ! Chinese are inscrutable & have no doubts about it.

I wish those trolls can read the real English like this.
英国人画了一条线:噢这都是我们的领土,这就是他们的逻辑,而且很显然在油管偏见永远不会消除
Well organized and I am so educated by your comments! Thanks for your time and efforts and everything!
As we all know, most people are only willing to believe what they think they are. Preconceive and then extrapolate the process from the results
Would love to hear more on the border fence between Myanmar and China as well!
你可以简单地将这样的事情与美墨边境墙进行比较
It like the border fence between America and Mexico
Always impressed by the amount of effort that goes into your videos Johnny!
another anti-Chinese propaganda video and fake news story
- "The nine-dash line is illegal under international law! The fact means nothing! "
--"I agree, and the same, according to international law, Taiwan has never been independent, it has always been part of China"
- "No no no for Taiwan, we don't talk about international law, the fact is more important, it is about recognition of sovereignty"
--"Okay if you talk about recognition of sovereignty, how about Israel?"
-"Damn let's go back to international law"
Lol sure thing China Bot
China has had no control over Taiwan’s governance since 1949. If it truly belongs to them, then it just shows their embarrassing incompetence to administer their own territory.
@@itsnight772 yeah yeah yeah
You clearly don't understand the difference between a) International law, b) recognition of sovereignty. *yawn*

Tell the big bro to give it back

Yep, and the world had took a much larger amount of land from China(yuan dynasty), bet you forgot that, how shameless is the world right?
Shut up with the dynasties lmao China just need a reason to claim others land everyone knows that@@kafka886

I wish they actually taught interesting geopolitics like this in school
I think all these countries should bring their own maps with Taiwan as an independent country and Tibet as an independent country too let's see them fume with anger
Taiwan doesn't consider themselves an independent country, so that wouldn't make any sense.
Before you support him so much on the narration, he probably will make the next video about India and Kashmir.

Can we first give a round of applause to the intro for this video! The hook combined with the rising tensions of the music is absolutely superb! Now to watch the rest of what I assume is already going to be a great video!
There is no such thing as law only force.
The nine dash = China law
"International law"= US law
The strongest law shall be respected
Well Israel has shown international law is optional so why wouldn’t China do what they want
In Vietnam, we call the 9-dash line by ''cow's tounge line''😂

Taiwan has been indepent for decades? Does Taiwaw's local governor agree on this? Do you know their(ROC) map including mainland China?
A very interesting point is that this map was actually drawn by Taiwan. Hahaha
AHahah isn't that mean taiwan recaptured china?)
yeah ofc with those simplified characters lol
UN SecretaryGeneral Ban referenced the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758, and refused the motion. On 19 July 2007, Taiwanese President Chen Shui-bian wrote to request admission into the UN by the name Taiwan. Ban rejected the request, stating that Resolution 2758 defined Taiwan as part of China.
I might sound crazy but China and America don’t seem to far off from each other in the way they use their power

Lol countries with US bases WANT the US to be there, as opposed to China building unwanted bases on our territory. Really not comparable to US carrier strike forces as well as they are on international waters
no, America gov is just like a global police, the whole earth.
China is a chill country, they only claim their own territory, different from the USA that cause chaos around the World.

I am from India 🇮🇳,
From our perspective you don't want neighbours like China and Pakistan both of them always make us Indians angry time to time, and so for our defence we have to spend a lot in millitary instead of focusing on poverty and manufacturing which is getting worse day by day in my country. You all westerners N. America and Europe should be happy that you all got good Neighbors who do not send terrorists like Pak or make border problems like China.
Heard about these two little countries called Canada and Mexico
@@AugustRx Canada is our ally, and the government of Mexico is not hostile to us. In India, both Pakistan and China are both hostile towards India. Your comparison is incorrect.

Imagine if the United States just randomly decided to draw maps with Baja California and New Brunswick as part of its territory
Eh, bad comparison. Apart from the fact that the US only has two neighbours, it also spent decades of its history incorporating territory that weren't actually its own by force. It's a superpower thing because in reality, What the heck are you gonna do. Even if the US decided to claim parts of Mexico rn, no one would be able to do anything except send strongly worded letters. It's how the world works. International law is for weaklings
