  • We thought it would be helpful for all of the millions of people who have purchased Debut turntables over the last three decades to put together an upgrade guide to help find the right one(s) for your specific model. In this video, we go over the possible upgrades, give you an idea of how much each one might improve your sound, and help you understand the difficulty level of installing the upgrade. This list is what we feel is the order of importance for most applications. We even put together a chart that shows you which upgrades are suited for which turntables on our detailed written article.

    Hi, the acryl-it weighs only 930 grams. So a lot lighter than my debut recordmaster 11 steelplatter that weighs 1.5 kilo. Love to buy it but am afraid that my wow and flutter increases a lot. Its now 0.04%.

    • @AudioAdvice
      @AudioAdvice  2 роки тому +2

      If you are in the US you should try one from us. It is weighted around the perimeter and we have not heard of it increasing wow over the steel platter. But you are right, normally the ones that are weighted, especially around the perimeter have good speed consistency. Thanks for watching

  • @topouzidd
    @topouzidd 6 місяців тому +1

    “Putting the wrong weight could add too much pressure to the platter bearing”. I used a 300g weight and was told off by a turntable shop owner. Then I bought the alu sub platter which is 700g (and replaces the 100g plastic sub platter) which sits on the same bearing and adds 600g more strain. How could a 300g weight be worse than a 700g sub platter? (I’m not using the weight, but I’d love to understand the logic).

    • @TheBishopFury
      @TheBishopFury 11 місяців тому

      That's the issue I think: you can spend a lot of money on small upgrades elsewhere but the tonearm swap is an essential change; still that's not what the company probably would expect you to do, but to transition to a higher grade player, rather:)

    • @aussierob7177

      When you buy a turntable fitted with a tonearm, there are compromises involved. Usually your cartridge selection is limited by the fitted tonearm.@@TheBishopFury

    I went to buy the Leather-It from a shop that is Pro-Ject distributors in my country, and they told me that I would probably need to bring my ProJect Debut S (which comes with felt mat) for a VTA adjustment if I want the leather-it.

    Might want to start by replacing the crummy Chinese electrolytic filter caps used in the power supply. They fail within 2-3 years and then you get a terrible hum anytime you try to use it. I've replaced these caps in three Debut's in the last couple of months.

    Leon I read that if you have the Pro and upgrade the to the aluminum sub platter that the Pro satin nickel record weight won’t fit because the spindle is too long. Any info on this?

    • @AudioAdvice
      @AudioAdvice  2 роки тому

      We checked into this and it turns out the very first production run had a spindle that was out of tolerance and too tall. The problem is, subplatters are not serialized so there was no way to do a recall. Pro-Ject will be happy to exchange one of these for a new one.

    What a great video and I'm enjoying my Evo Pro I bought from you guys a while back. Question: My Evo Pro's arm doesn't like to descend fully to the record. Is there an adjustment I could make to allow it to drop consistently?

    • @AudioAdvice
      @AudioAdvice  10 місяців тому +1

      Thank you! That sounds like the cueing cynlinder fluid is somewhat stiff. Try raising and lowering it repeatedly about a dozen times, pushing down on the arm that supports the tonearm when it does not drop each time (might be a good idea to put on your stylus guard while doing this) that should fix it, if not please reach out to our team for more support.
