Houston area poorly designed streets are a BIG part of the issue. Even the newest streets in the newest subdivisions are narrow (just travel lanes with curb), no shoulder, no sidewalk. WHY? Because shoulders and sidewalks take away land from the builders.
Board members and high salary ppl in cy fair need to take a pay cut oh and they gonna come back and say even if they did it would not be enough… but it’s a start
A lot of schools are lacking … Either from transportation or having the air systems working … I got informed from my own soon that some of the classrooms were hot and felt like an oven 😢 had to call the school and make a report about it !!! 😢😢
This is unacceptable!!! I notice there No sidewalks in Katy, Cypress. This is ridiculous. Plus it’s dark at 6:30am it’s not safe. What are they thinking. Why are there no walking areas????? 😡
While I’m also pissed about these changes I know exactly where that lady live as my sister lives there and that’s not the way her daughter should be walking. If she went the opposite way out of those apartments it would bring her through a neighborhood with sidewalks and drop her right at the school. My nephew who is in middle school also is supposed to walk and that’s a 45 minute walk.
😂 you know that’s not going to happen. You’ll be taking money from someone’s pocket. And these politicians don’t like that. Can’t mess with their lavish tax funded life style.
At 1:00 she does NOT have to cross that "major intersection" and neither did the driver. You simply continue and turn right without crossing anything...
@@diw.824 Look at 0:52 it's ELEVATED at all points where she would need to cross. Hello? people use those beautiful well lit crosswalks UNDER 249 all the time. You walk/bike UNDER 249 for a mile either way from that point.
You have to understand that the city has spent millions and will continue to spend a lot more millions on asylum seekers. Where do you think that money is coming from?
First off, your "little daughter" is in high school. Carpool with neighbors of friends that drive. Secondly, if no one wants to drive/carpool, then walk together in groups to school. Lastly, because no one seems to have taught her, teach her to look both ways before crossing a street.
Pathetic response. You must not have any kids, or care very little for them. They need to sack the football program, and all the other BS. The kids no matter what age deserve a safe ride to school. Get with the program man....
@@g0ldensample21 And I as a parent made sure that mine did. What's pathetic is that Momma in this video here can't take her daughter but has time to complain and drive a news person around. Sheesh!
Sounds good in theory if circumstances were to align. They rarely do though. Not everyone can call upon neighbors to assemble car pools, and the route she showed, I wouldn't let my kid walk that. Houston area drivers are kinda dumb and not to be trusted to be paying attention. CFISD needs to do a better job of prioritizing how they spend the billions of dollars they burn through. Cutting a basic service like bus routes is amateur level administrating.
@@DaveG-kb2sr To be fair, Houston area pedestrians are equally clueless about making themselves seen, being vigilant, and following rules. I disagree that buses are a "basic service" for high school kids like in the story.
Yet the district has plenty of money for sports... safety should be 1st priority .... this is sad 😢
Let me guess: they have plenty of money for the football program, right?

Cypress, Tx. My old homemade. Moved away once my son started high school. 4,000 kids in a school was just too much.

Cy Fair school district must be working in conjunction with child predators in the area. 🤷🏼♂️

I bet they would start busing the kids if everyone threaten to move out of Houston school district.
Require sidewalks on major streets and side streets

SH 249 is a freaking highway they don't have sidewalks they should have given her a bus to ride.

A lot of people don’t have that option.
They have Uber teen now
