The change they made to Arcane Ward is so powerful and so much fun. I went with Sorc 1 / War Cleric 1 / Wizard 5 to wear Adamantine Splint to avoid crits. Between Adamantine Plate, Arcane Ward, Warcaster, and Boots of Striding you will almost never drop concentration.
I’m sure that works, but I don’t know about the dip in sorcerer. The 4 cantrips aren’t super useful, and I think resilient con is basically as good as war caster in this game. I do love cleric dips though for healing word/bless + armor.
@@stecon5warcaster is significantly better if all you want is to hold concentration. I used to take resilient constitution but after reading some posts saying otherwise i spent wayy too much time testing it. I made some scripts (simulated and actual) and war caster averaged close to a +5 which is what people were saying for "Advantage" in general. I was shocked. So if you can only pick one for holding concentration, war caster is better at any constitution level 20 and below (didnt test higher).
Gotta think of companions as a single character basically. For example you can have asterion and Wyll both have eldrich blast and you have basically 4 turns of it and after level 6 is op af
Loved the video. I am quite new to CRPGs, but my idea of Karlach's build for my next playthroughs seems to be the same as yours ;) Please, make more! P.S. Oh, and I loved that background music you played, it calmed me down a bit.
as much as i agree that astarion and gale builds were incredible Karlach came off as greatly redundand. Rather than taking both gwm and TB i think simply choosing and focusing on one or the other would yield better results. EK also isnt necessary as a very good returning weapon can be found very early on in the game and it serves just fine up until late game where you can get a legendary grade upgrade. For a dedicated TB thrower id advocate for going berk 6 thief 4 fighter 2 and for a gwm user it's hard not to go just 11 fighter for that triple attack. Of course your presented build is still good and should beat the game without issue but i just wanted to throw in my own 2 cents, whatever they may be worth. Still, I enjoyed the vid and you are amongst the few dnd-related guide channels i actually respect so thanks for your work. P.S. : i think the main argument for getting heavy armor on that Gale build would be for armor of persistence for a permanent blade ward, though i do agree that it's not necessary
Glad to see the return of the optimizing series, though out of curiosity are you ever going to get back around to optimizing critical roll? Loving the content you are making and will definitely keep watching just curious.
hey, I have a suggestion of a good build, a mix of fighter and ranger i call this one: The BATTLE HUNTER it's a mix of the battle master from fighter and the hunter from ranger the exactly role of this build, it's very flexible, but i made this one to be a melee striker using a halberd/spear levels: Ranger 16 + Fighter 4 from the hunter options i pick: Giant killer, Escape the horde, Whirlwind Attack and Evasion from the battle manuevers i pick: Pushing attack, Disarming attack and Precision Attack Important feats: Polearm master and Mobile Core Ranger spells: Hunter's mark, Zephyr Strike, Guardian of Nature, Spike Growth and Long strider this build have a high mobile, and fasts combos to incapacitate foes. In combat you will do 2 melee attacks (3 with the polearm master feat if your bonus action is ready to use), make sure to buff yourself with Zephyr strike, hunter's mark or guardian of nature for extra damage. Start your attacks with a Disarming attack to take away the enemy's weapon, and then use the pushing attack because then he goes far away, out of reach of their weapon. Combining all this with the Whirlwind Attack, you can disarm all enemies around you and push then away from their weapons the rest of the build is very flexible, i like to have wall of wind and gust of wind, for some versatile and creativity for unique plays
@@cmccbuilds8229 yes, this is not a specific build for the Baldur's gate game, but for D&D in general, i just comment here because it's last your video 😅
Not sure if its just me but the video kept freezing while still playing the audio between like 2:56 - 3:01 then 3:06 to like 3:30, It isnt like a big thing you might have kept that in while your talking please correct me

@stecon5 sorcerer is mandatory for armor of agathys

The astarion build is pretty much what I did with my main character during my first Playthrough.
I made Astarion a 1 level life cleric and rest as Lore Bard.. and he is amazing

Thanks for the video. I love the style of builds.
Thanks for the comment ;)

I really like the Karlach build. Pure martial gooodness

I would love to but I need to find the time and the videos need to do well in my patreon voting.
I feel you about prepping making things too easy

This has 20 levels. Is it a 5e build?

It’s a freeze frame to keep the video on the exact point I want
Okay perfect I didn’t want it to sound like I was complaining so thanks for clarifying that
I forgot to comment. my bad.
Background music still too loud. Your voice is soft and that’s fine. But the music almost completely drowns it out.
I listened on my comp, phone, and tv and I can barely hear the music and hear my voice fine.
Anyone else having sound issues?
