    Interesting video. You know, I've always been an introverted, gentle and peaceful person, and my musical taste is diverse; but it surely revolves around these 6 bands/artists: Metallica, Iron Maiden, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Billy Joel, Toto & The Warning.

    Hard Rock and Metal are my favorite genres as well and those traits do fit me well for the most part except I wouldn't consider myself to be very creative. All the other traits fit my personality pretty well. There's a scene on one of my favorite TV shows, Nikita, where a character was being interrogated by the CIA and they were blindfolded and turned on loud heavy metal to make them delirious and the character that was being interrogated said, "do me a favor and turn the music up on your way out" and that would be me lol!

    As a ‘wee little lad’ in the early 80’s after hearing ‘metal’ for the first time.. if the music wasn’t from bands like kreator, testament, forbidden, suicidal tendencies and the big 4 it didn’t exist.. that was my outward attitude for many years all the while secretly listening to bands like concrete blonde, bif naked, fishbone and ... ‘forgive me gods of rock’ yanni 🤦‍♂️...

    A bit late to the party but I just recently found your channel and it's very interesting. I wonder if some of this is a chicken and egg problem. For instance, country music tends to be more popular in rural areas, where people also tend to be more conservative. So, does this population like country music because they're conservative or did they happen to be raised in a conservative environment where country music was popular? Perhaps a bit of both.

      @@psychologyofrock I guess progressive rock/metal is my go to much of the time, but I cast a pretty wide net. Classical holds a big part of my life as well, I trained as a pianist before going off and repairing brass musical instruments. I try to be open to as much music as possible. The more music one can listen to, the more chances you can be moved.

    • @seekthineselfcultivateyour3657
      @seekthineselfcultivateyour3657 Рік тому +1

      Sort of. Human Beings are complex, so naturally, you're going to like many genres, and each of those genres speaks out to one of the many attributes that define who you are. You could call it a multidentity, a unique personality for there is only one of you.
      Preference creates personality when it comes to musical genres, for you will innately appreciate certain genres more than others.
      However, it's important to add that if you like everything, while there's nothing wrong with saying this, you're basically a jack of all trades and a master of none. In terms of personality, it's reflective that you don't really know yourself, unless listening to music is a huge passion of yours(Which could be an ice breaker all on it's own, especially if you study music theory in school or in general or maybe you like to compose music yourself, or maybe you dance or sing or maybe throw parties and are a dj of sorts), then it would make sense for you to like "everything."
      But as I'm sure you might've picked up, it's a cop-out when you tell people that "I like everything." Even if you mean it, people don't really learm much about you when you offer such an answer, save for maybe that you're open, which I suppose can be a positive attribute to your personality.
      But unveiling a few favorites certainly can give somwbody, who is getting to know you better, a first look into what kind of personality you have, and that can have many facets and sides.

  • @RevStickleback
    @RevStickleback Рік тому

    I'd guess there are so many factors at play. Not least would be where you are from, as the music you are exposed to when growing up has such a bearing on your tastes. Country music, for example, is very strong in certain parts of the USA, but nowhere near as strong anywhere else in the world. There's also what you get out of music. I prefer energetic stuff that gives me something of an dopamine hit, such as punk, but I know people who are more highly strung, so they want music that helps them relax.

    Shouldn't it note that the hiphop rap fans are never hard working, nor very well-read or musical? Honestly, I have never met a hip hop fan that has been particularly good at any of these traits. I used to work with a guy who loved stuff like SOAD, 2pac and Eminem and crap like that, and he was the laziest little sissy I have met. He spent two days off work because he burned himself a bit on a plastic welding jaw I have burnt myself on a hundred times and at least a few that was as bad as his on., And when I sliced my finger to the bone (4cm long cut diagonally up my left index finger that left it looking like a gutted fish) I rolled some tissue paper around it, wrapped it with some masking tape and got on with it, never went to see a doc, and the finger is still there. Did I mention this guy was 6 years older than me?
    I am primarily a classic rock kinda guy, but with a good dose of heavy metal and hard rock mixed in, and occasionally jazz and blues too, and I find these traits to be fairly true. I am hard working, well read, and I scored quite good on my Mensa test, most my hobbies are either creative or require extreme precision and/or patience, I also collect art, wristwatches and love to go flyfishing, but I do have my alcoholism, paranoia, and depression, which takes up a lot of my spare time, and are all signs of me being a self-centered arsehole. (and so is this whole comment to be frank). I am also extremely messy, which I think deep down has it's roots in my often nihilistic view on things.
