Member of the Million Dollar quartet. Member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Country Music Hall of Fame. Started playing his music when he was 8 years old in the back of his dad's pickup truck in Ferriday Louisiana. I am 77 years old and have seen him live over 60 times. In addition to rock and roll, he sang country, rhythm and blues, ballads, swing, jazz, gut bucket blues, gospel and more. He lived to be 88 years old. Great Post Gooble Reacts !!! I am a new subscriber and fan.
Jerry Lee Lewis and Jimmy Swaggart were cousins. They grew up together. If you watch Jimmy Swaggart playing piano, you’ll notice the same style of playing the piano, but without the leg movement. May they both R.I.P.
Those were the guys defining rock and roll with every record they released. It was too new to have a formula, they were creating it as they went. Long live rock and roll!
Nice reaction and when he started out he was brand new in the type of music he created. Another singer, Little Richard, had a similar style and was a little earlier than Jerry. He also made a lot of parents ban his music for their kids and some held public burnings of his records.
...JLL was the absolute best when it came to 'Rock-a-Billy music...but, also, good ole Rock and Roll too. you mentioned Elvis...he and JLL were friends(both got their starts in Memphis at Memphis Recording Service(also known as Sun Records)...and, get this...JLL lived only about 8 miles from Elvis! JLL at the Lewis Ranch in Nesbit, MS and, Elvis of course at Graceland in south Memphis near the MS state line.
Jerry Lee Lewis and his cousin, Rev. Jimmy Swaggert,, were taught by the same piano teacher in Louisiana. Years later, their2nd cousin, Mickey Gilley, was taught piano by the same teacher. He was a country star. You really need to react to the video where Jerry Lee Lewis, Jimmy Swaggert, Mickey Gilley, and Charlie Rich all play piano. It's a glimpse back at how music evolved over two generations.
You ought to check out when Jerry plays "Great Balls of Fire" sets the piano on fire and keeps playing the piano and singing the song at the same time. He was indeed, "The Killer". Adios.
You have got to listen to some of his country music, it is golden and he has one of the best country voices there ever was, imo he is the best country singer to hit the stage
He's great, but not better than george jones and keith whitley. He wasnt strictly country though.. His gospel and country releases was his best.. R and R i liked, but not his best
Oh, take me back to those days....I remember, as a 9 year old boy, watching my older sister and brother dancing to music like this down in the basement....
Oh well, I'm old, but that's a few years older than me. Wasn't that dismissed as monkey music back then ? Always nice when music evolves I mean from pure classical music to rock to punk and heavy rock etc.. What a performance by Jerry .
He was the original wild man of rock. He did what he’s wanted,, which included marrying his 13 year old cousin and crashing his car into the gates of Graceland.
Sweetie that's calm for him I've seen him kick the piano bench away start playing with two hands and a foot sit on top of the piano play with both feet and to piss off Chuck Berry Chuck Berry demanded Jerry Lee open for him because chuck had more hits at the time 3 Jerry Lee's two so management said Jerry had open which pissed him off so he goes out there for the last song he does Great balls of fire pours it was either whiskey or lighter fluid all over the inside of the grand piano set it on fire in keeps playing till the end of the song walks up to Chuck Berry and says follow that killer if you were to compare the bad boys of rock and roll and the bad boys of metal Jerry Lee was like the Motley Crue of of his time period of the 1950s and early 60s got into just as much trouble
Jerry was a badass back in the day.

Mickey Gilley is also a cousin. His sister Linda Gail Lewis plays a pretty good piano as well.
Jerry Lee Lewis é uma lenda do Rock, um dos maiores.
Jerry is one of the founders of rock and roll, along with early Elvis, Little Richard and Chuck Berry to name a few of the headliners.
Those were the guys defining rock and roll with every record they released. It was too new to have a formula, they were creating it as they went. Long live rock and roll!
Jerry Lee Live at The Star Club in Hamburg is the first punk recording. It's AMAZING.
Nice reaction and when he started out he was brand new in the type of music he created. Another singer, Little Richard, had a similar style and was a little earlier than Jerry. He also made a lot of parents ban his music for their kids and some held public burnings of his records.
Love 50s 60s music.

Interesting, because Jerry Lee always said he taught himself to play. One time he said he had one lesson and the teacher slapped him after he played
You’ve just seen the birth of rock ‘n’ roll.
You ought to check out when Jerry plays "Great Balls of Fire" sets the piano on fire and keeps playing the piano and singing the song at the same time. He was indeed, "The Killer". Adios.
Jerry is the king of Rock n Roll period
Jerry Lee Lewis had many hits, most notably "Great Balls of Fire."
One of the great pioneers of early rock n roll, along with Elvis and Little Richard
You have got to listen to some of his country music, it is golden and he has one of the best country voices there ever was, imo he is the best country singer to hit the stage

Check out the video of him performing 'Sweet Georgia Brown'. Just amazing!

This video here really needs to be remastered. Because it doesn't really show how good he was Jerry Lee Lewis.
Johnny Cash Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis was good friends. Johnny stared out working for Elvis.
Jerry Lee and Little Richard could pound a piano.
Oh well, I'm old, but that's a few years older than me. Wasn't that dismissed as monkey music back then ? Always nice when music evolves I mean from pure classical music to rock to punk and heavy rock etc.. What a performance by Jerry .
The Killer!
One of the Founding Fathers..
This man Elvis and Johnny Cash was discovered by same man same time
The killer was probably the best piano player ever. Rip
He was the original wild man of rock. He did what he’s wanted,, which included marrying his 13 year old cousin and crashing his car into the gates of Graceland.
You seem impressed, but he was a little reserved here.
Only Jerry, Little Richard and if you look hard enough, Liberace could play like that.
jll roy orbison n elvis toured togehter in v 50s n recorded at sun studios i beleive. prob kinda shcking 2 c so much passion on stage at v time.
Correction.....Elvis did the Jerry Lee thing
Jerry Lee Lewis came close to overcoming Elvis as the King of Rock N Roll
This was kind of calm for him.
Listen to gram parsons vocals off of The Flying Burrito Brothers - Hot Burrito #1
Seriously.

He kinda went off the rails soon after. He married his 14 yr old first cousin. He did what he wanted to do.
Jerry Lee was speeding in this one.
