Glissando...yes...my mom was just like that. She could play ANYTHING, and never look at the keys! Just WOW! Love, love, love Jerry Lee Lewis. Thanks for covering another one of his pieces. That's a really good way of titling the piano music (Gospel- or Tavern-style). Perfect! 😀

The pair lost their sight as teenagers as a result of a rare genetic disorder called Stargardt Disease. I didn't find a birthdate for them, but the photo I saw, showed them as being at least in their 30s. 13-year-old Lucy is blind and neurodivergent, and left judges speechless with her incredible performance of a Chopin nocturne on the TV show ‘The Piano’. I've never seen this side of Jerry and I'm blown away! His voice is very beautiful and full. I've only seen his more flamboyant performances - playing with his feet and things like that. This was really really nice. Great suggestion. I have only one problem with this performance, and that's the mic. They didn't have the tech to have it coming off the top of the piano? They had to put a mic stand right in front of the keys? His hand had to go around it a few times to reach the high notes. Maybe that's something he does to show off his skills even more, Idk. Looked cool as hell though.
Great observation! Not sure but it did seem to make things more challenging for him but the professional he is, you would never know! Such a great performance indeed! Thanks for hanging out!
There's actually a technique to the glissando, jerry lee has mastered it obviously one of the few piano players that has mastered it with the touch and feel of Jerry lee.
Thanks for showcasing this one, a fav of mine for many years. Appreciate your analysis from a music and theory perspective. JLL has had my attention since his debut on Sun Records along with Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, and BB King all superstars following that start.
@@setonhillstudios To show one of the many great Early Rock songs he recorded with Sun Records, a million seller in the 60's, catch "Breathless". Happy to sponsor it if you play it. ua-cam.com/video/nrOCaRSPWC0/v-deo.html
This is the late 60s maybe 1969.. The Beatles came a few years before and started the English invasion..And brought with them ...The use of drugs, new music, and began a new era. And also a new low for Rock.. Then Jerry destroyed his career and married Myra Gale Brown, his 13-year-old first cousin.. The public destroyed him. To save himself from drinking, drugging, and poor record sales, he switched to Country music. From the late 60s all through the 70s he had over 30 top ten hits. In 1968 he recorded "Another Place, Another Time" ( my favorite) which went to number 4 on the Country charts for 17 weeks and led to many Gold records and Grammys. Drunk or sober, up or down, Jerry played and sang the rest of his life.

1969 Ed Sullivan show, this was Jerry le in his prime
Jerry Lee Lewis and the evangelist Jimmy Swaggart were double first cousins. Jimmy Swaggart could play the piano and sing pretty well also.
Mickey Gilley is also their cousin. All from the same place in Louisiana.
