I started reading about medicine prescribed for me before I bought it. One doctor prescribed a medicine that had a very long warning to only take it in front of the doctor because it could cause death. It went on and on about it. I did not buy it, she never mentioned that and what I got it for wasn’t worth that and eventually it went away. Thank you Dr. Berg for all the nutrition info for that.

Dr. Berg. This issue is not only confined to india but in almost all old subcontinent countries including india, Pakistan, afghanistan, iran, Bangladesh, napal, sri Lanka, maldeves etc.
We Indians are not vegetarians, we are carbotarians. Yes, I had a potbelly in my 40s. I have worked hard to get rid of it, I am in my late 50s now. I love Indian food, but for me, it's a treat, not an everyday staple.
@heremate2435 I am not a vegetarian here by far. Too much meat is also not the answer either. No one food group is the problem or the answer to our holistic health.
Guests like her bring much needed attention to the topics that were discussed. I follow DR Burg from a long time & I am grateful that he discussed this very important topic.
hi Dr. Berg. I come from South Indian background.. all my life when i was living in India we were told that eating lot of meat will make you fat and the lethils with rice and samosas and all other indian snacks are good for our health since or ancestors lived close to 100 years. but when i moved to Ireland and i prefered mostly non vegetarian diet but this time i havnt had lot of rice with it. Almost every day i was having protein and my parents were worried about my diet but believe me i lost around 15kgs and never felt better. i took my vitamins and included good amount of protein and l cycled for 8-10 kms everyday. but things changed when i moved back to India. In India food is very cheap...believe me somehow it is cheap to eat street food than to cook at home and within two years i developed fatty liver, round belly, hair loss, and i look 10 years older. But i have had enough.. I have been avoiding sugars for a week and started cooking to avoid street food, taking vitamin d3 60000 IU per week and im already feeling great. Now my whole family is a huge fan of your videos and stopped going to a local doctor for nutritional adivise. I'm 118kg as of today.. but few months from now i will be proud of myself. I'M glad that i found you..please keep doing god's work.
India has had a high proportion of carb eating vegetarians for centuries. So it's not simply carbs, Dr Roshani gets to the core of the issues toward the end, which is refined carbohydrates, refined foods in general. If they/we got back to good basic food stuffs and left out all the processed product, the problem would largely disappear.
Naah Indian earlier worked a lot in fields and in general life so that much carb was kind of okay ! But we were never known for our muscular bodies or strength ! The non vegetarian warrior clans were extremely strong but they had loads of meats and milk based proteins from various foods ! So sir you are totally wrong in ur analysis .

I am an 84 y old indian Pharmacist n I am writing from personal experience. Here, mothers always feel that their child is not eating enough food n so they cream them with plenty of carbohydrates. If they are made to realise their mistake, ninety percent of the problem will be solved. And slim bodies within the limits should be made fashionable. Of course, it is a herculean task.
I like Doctor Sanghani. Great guest. Everyone do carnivore, then keto, if you are unhealthy. If you're not unhealthy, you will be, if you stick with the standard American diet.
Dr. Roshani Sanghani discusses health issues in India, particularly belly fat and insulin resistance. She explains the prevalence of high-carb diets, lack of protein, and digestive problems. The video covers strategies for improving nutrition, especially for vegetarians, and addressing insulin resistance through diet changes.
I traveled in India, and felt blown most of the time by all the carbohydrates which my body didn't seem to digest very well, and at the same time I was hungry because I wasn't really being provided with sufficient nutrients through the food; especially the lack of proteins. So I just ate more.. Carbohydrates 😏 which then again blocked my digestion. Not a good circle. Also the seed oils and sugars wasn't good of course, but for me it felt like the lack of proper protein and meat was the biggest problem.
This problem is not just in India. We american's have the same problem, we just have different names for the food causing it. I'm grateful for this info. Just 3 days ago I had a stress test and failed. Blocked arteries they suspect. I have done some Keto off and on along with intermittent fasting. It had to come to serious life or death for me to decide to GET SERIOUS about this. This video checked all the boxes I need to address and has motivated me beyond belief. I know I can do the right thing because I've done it before and it really wasn't hard. Just have to be committed. I will spend the next 2 weeks getting rid of the carbs in my kitchen and fillint it with what I really need. By Jan 1 I will be ready to go full speed into eating right and being more healthy. Thank you Dr. Berg.
YESSS!!! This can be done. I'm living healthier, have more energy and am much thinner since I dumped carbs (pasta, bread, etc...and I'm Italian!) and especially sugar. Now I love my veggies, eggs, cheeses, fruits, fermented foods...and my comfort "food": coffee ;) More energy. More clarity. Better life.
Beef, Lamb, Bacon, Butter , eggs, butter, heavy cream, fish, sea salt and water. Nothing else is needed to thrive and survive. Some people do lion diet and just have beef, salt and water.
This was a great and informative video. I always wondered why I was craving so much sweet food. You answered a lot of my questions. I will probably watch this again and take notes.🙂
21:05 “when they say protein is heavy, what they haven’t understood is that that’s what’s satiety is supposed to feel like. It’s supposed to fill you up.” Well said, thank you!
Wow I was in northern India in 2012 and hardly ever seen men with potbelly so I'm shocked this is a thing there now. Comparatively if you go anywhere in the USA it's everywhere. I think it's important to realize dairy products in USA are very different than in other countries. Where most people have sinus or digestive reactions to dairy in USA but when they go to other countries abroad in Asia and Europe that's not the case. It comes down to the way it's processed and what the animals are eating and drugs they are getting.

Growing up, we were told to eat more carbs for energy and low-fat foods. I've struggled with my weight my whole life. Thankyou doctor's for the excellent video. I wish i knew then what i know now.
Because you were lied to by propagandists
Such a good talk, and wonderful to hear a physician with years of clinical experience and a thorough understanding of nutritional impacts on the body!
Glad you liked it! Thank you for watching!
Dr. B & team: Why not create a worldwide network of nutrition advocates like Dr. Sanghani to interview regularly and learn what are the nutrition challenges and successes of other cultures?
Fascinating content.
Great idea, could bring a variety of cultures and ideas together!
Seed oils, healthy and unhealthy carbs, unhealthy fats, sugars in all its forms and non exercise.
Im Indian, 95% carnivore, intermittent and prolong fasts. High protein, ghee, coconut oil, grass fed butter. Exercise intensely, 6 or 7 % bodyfat.
I always enjoy your videos, Dr. Berg. A video on digestive bitters would be awesome to see.
Angostura Bitters?
I am Indian and just today worried about my big belly and you posted thanks Dr. Berg ✨✨
The issue is surely the vegetarian diet, it will be very difficult to not eat mostly carbs, and lacking protein massively.
No! eg. peanut butter 26% protein rest fat & fibre very little carbs so that is just 1 example.
100 years ago all of India was mostly Slim and they never ate meat something has changed😢😢
@@iRossco animal protein is a different thing
Yet, the only time I did not have a belly was when I was eating vegetarian.
@@rubenproost2552 because maybe you personally ate less carbs when being vegetarian, but it's not usually the case
Wow... This is nice Eye-opener for Indians from Dr. Roshani ma'am. Every Indian should watch this video. Thank you Dr. Berg. You are doing a great job for humanity.
Fantastic interview, Doc. Everything Dr. Sanghani said is so true and to the point, but the information is just not out there and sometimes people just don't want to hear it. God bless you both for bringing this out♥!
IT'S SO INTERESTING INTERVIEW. Thank you so much to both dr.
Dr. Berg. This issue is not only confined to india but in almost all old subcontinent countries including india, Pakistan, afghanistan, iran, Bangladesh, napal, sri Lanka, maldeves etc.
Also all south East Asian countries.
It is parasites.
Apparently this is being censored. It is para sites.
WOW, impressed!! What a wonderful and REAL doctor - thank you for this interview👏🏼👏🏼
We Indians are not vegetarians, we are carbotarians. Yes, I had a potbelly in my 40s. I have worked hard to get rid of it, I am in my late 50s now. I love Indian food, but for me, it's a treat, not an everyday staple.
You are vegetarian you hardly eat any animal products and no meat at all, that's why you have all these problems
@heremate2435 I am not a vegetarian here by far. Too much meat is also not the answer either. No one food group is the problem or the answer to our holistic health.
Great information here. Both sent a great message. Enjoyed so much.
She became my favorite! Thank you for bringing her into attention!❤
Wow!!! So excited for this conversation! Love the collaboration
In India eggs are considered as part of non - vegetarian diet. Only milk and milk products are included in vegetarian diet.
Milk is poisonous full of lactose sugar. Whole cream is okay but never drink milk
Two wonderful doctors/educators, great insights!!!
I appreciate this! Very insightful! As an Indian I always wondered this. Skinny everywhere else but VERY protruding bellies.
Very insightful Dr Roshani and Dr Eric! Totally hit the nail on the head for our population.
This is really really interesting!!!
Love ffrom India!!!!
Guests like her bring much needed attention to the topics that were discussed. I follow DR Burg from a long time & I am grateful that he discussed this very important topic.
So refreshing that no one got offended 👏
Dr Berg is the BEST online health educator. 100% open and genuine ❤
hi Dr.
The same goes for Some Latin American countries their diets is fool of carbs.
youre right amigo!
Yes I explain this and more in great detail in my book
Naah Indian earlier worked a lot in fields and in general life so that much carb was kind of okay !
But we were never known for our muscular bodies or strength !
The non vegetarian warrior clans were extremely strong but they had loads of meats and milk based proteins from various foods !
So sir you are totally wrong in ur analysis .
@@Invictus999-9 Thank you, I have not heard that information before.
@@Invictus999-9 thank you. This video is about the current state of Indian majority who suffer poor metabolic health in 2024. No claims are being made about what was historically eaten. This is about what people can change now, to improve metabolic health through food.
Dr berg is trying hard to fix problems of carb diet a big thanks to you love from india
Awesome interview
Extremely educating video!
Thank you to both
of these very
knowledgeable
Doctors!
Dr. Berg! Wow! This is an eye opening interview that you have posted...Very educational and very informative session. Dr.Roshani was very knowledgeable and the questions raised during this interview were very apt and discussed multiple options for vegetarians to achieve a full fledged protein diet.
Thank you very much for this "Indian" angle in this interview to address some dietary myths and misconceptions.
Amazing job by both of you Doctors! 👏🏼 🙌
Thank you doctor Berg for doing this, have twice lost 10-15 kgs of weight from 2020 to only regain it back with the same old indian habits. But prioritizing health once again and huge gratitude to you for what you have been doing. Also I used to think in 2020 on how what you are talking would be applicable to me as an indian , but here you are collaborating on a video just for indians. More power to you . thank you !
I'm south indian I'm following you keto
I am an 84 y old indian Pharmacist n I am writing from personal experience. Here, mothers always feel that their child is not eating enough food n so they cream them with plenty of carbohydrates. If they are made to realise their mistake, ninety percent of the problem will be solved. And slim bodies within the limits should be made fashionable. Of course, it is a herculean task.
I like Doctor Sanghani. Great guest. Everyone do carnivore, then keto, if you are unhealthy. If you're not unhealthy, you will be, if you stick with the standard American diet.
SAD
Thanks Eric I have been following you for many years.
Thanks for bringing concern on Indians
She has beauty + brains Dr Berg, excellent find! 💥💥
Relax diddy
A profound discussion. We need more of such.
How do i use this bot to summarize videos?
@@1x1HealthyEnergybyAndrewyeah 😂😂😂
Very important topic Dr. Eric.
I feel even younger men in early 20s have pot bellies these days.
Knowledge is divine. Thanks 🙏
yes there is some honest doctors exists !!
This video came at the right time for me who is trying to lose weight but not sure about nutrition. Thank you docs
Good luck😅
Beef, Lamb, Bacon, Butter , eggs, butter, heavy cream, fish, sea salt and water.
Nothing else is needed to thrive and survive.
Some people do lion diet and just have beef, salt and water.
In America we call it beer bellies🤭
This was a great and informative video. I always wondered why I was craving so much sweet food. You answered a lot of my questions. I will probably watch this again and take notes.🙂
Nice, so simple, so bacic...thank you both
21:05 “when they say protein is heavy, what they haven’t understood is that that’s what’s satiety is supposed to feel like. It’s supposed to fill you up.” Well said, thank you!

Great information. Thanks dr berg for having her in the interview.
Very glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the encouragement!
Thank you for bringing on someone from that culture. Good info
