    One small, but important, detail left out of this argument is that, in the Preface of Captain Tom's book he seems to allude to the fact that he was delighted to write the book to add to his charitable activities. So, it's still unclear whether, or not, the Ingram Moore family should have taken that money.

    The gentleman was exemplary, and he personally raised a lot of money which went straight to the NHS.
    The sad irony is, the family's rather obvious fast and loose exploitation of the man's good deeds will now lead to a financial feeding frenzy for lawyers.
    It's a natural human foible to have grief and loss mitigated to some degree by a financial legacy, but It's starting to look like the shopping lists were being drawn up during the funeral.

    The argument put forward here by one of the panelist’s “you want to set them up if you know you’re going to pass away soon??” Maybe she hasn’t noticed the type of property they live in…how much is that worth? Just look at the grounds it’s set in! The family do not look or appear short of money.
    I believe it’s totally immoral to set up a ‘charity’ in any form, create goods in the name of that charity or use the word ‘foundation’ and then take a reported £800k from proceeds raised from members of the public who are led to believe ALL the money is going to the charity. The argument “we made a mistake” given by the family, I find absurd! A mistake is perhaps recording a figure incorrectly or saying something that’s misinterpreted…but building a pool/spa on the grounds of your home is NOT a mistake, it’s a well thought out planned decision.
    If they were totally transparent, why did they not communicate BEFORE the book went on sale that the money was for personal gain? I wonder what the book sales would have been had they disclosed this information? I find in life that people are always really sorry when they get found out and the truth emerges. If they are truly sorry, why not donate the proceeds back to the NHS? or another AGREED worthy cause.
    My last suggestion would be that no family member or anyone close to a charitable cause should have autonomy on where funds raised should go. How did the daughter end up a paid director of Captain Tom’s charity? and who, if anyone allowed her and her family to benefit financially?

The amount of cutbacks you would think there was enough money to fund it and pay the staff properly. To me they are more heroes in the NHS than football players who earn a lot more.

  • @stephenlewis8760
    @stephenlewis8760 7 місяців тому +6

    The problem here which the media seems scared to talk about as I guess this family does generate a lot of views is if you actually read the books, the foreword by Tom clearly states that he believed the books were part of the charity efforts and thus the money generated would go to the NHS. He was clearly a wise person who understood that these books had it not been the link to charity and the belief that buying one would be an indirect donation to the charity would never have seen the light of day.
    It's not helped by the fact at every stage the family have tried to keep control of the foundation and money and use for personnel gain. Why attach the foundations name to a planning application which turned out to be a luxury spa for family use, why the need to be CEO of the foundation with a 5/6 figure salary...
    If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck it's probably not the swan everyone's hoped for.

      @@kanedNunable no that’s not true, that nearly £40mil all went to the NHS. They even got the GoFundMe style site they used to drop their fees, so they whole lot went to the NHS. Where the greed and deception comes in is after that, they set up a foundation, where that daughter put herself in charge, pay herself ridiculous sums of money to be in charge and also paying her and her husband’s company for dodgy stuff like consultation fees, but none of the original amount was stolen and that did go to the NHS. There wasn’t a way they could get their hands on that, because it was done through a go fund me style website, it always goes direct to the named Charity via those websites. The captain Tom foundation is where the deception began.

      All of it to be fair, because that was collected by one of these GoFundMe style pages, so the family would never have got their hands on that, it goes direct to the named Charity, but that’s where this was set up. It was planned all along to make them look like the good guys, which for that, they were, but then they knew that if they set up a foundation people would carry on throwing money at it, and that is where the theft and deception began.

    • @tombowen6430
      @tombowen6430 7 місяців тому +1

      No the will just determines the destiny of his estate. The issue is whether his estate should properly include book proceeds which were marketed as intended for raising money for the charitable Foundation - not marketed as raising money for himself or (eventually) family.

    • @rosewest5168
      @rosewest5168 7 місяців тому +1

      @tombowen6430 Surely if the money made from the books is intended to go to the family or Captain Tom had it before he died in his accounts it would be classed as part of his estate? I find it odd that it's supposedly for the family and is in the families club nook account ....yet he has another Daughter? So why hasn't part of it gone to her 🤷‍♀️

    • @tombowen6430
      @tombowen6430 7 місяців тому

      @@rosewest5168 payments were made by the publishers directly into the Club Nook Ltd account before he died - they could have told him anything about the destiny of the cash to get him to sign the agreement with publisher. An agent was involved. There are only two directors of Club Nook Ltd - David Colin Ingram-Moore and Hannah Melissa Ingram-Moore. Once in their company control, the cash was not part of Sir Tom’s estate when he passed away so it’s all theirs - no other relatives could touch any of it. Sir Tom had said on camera that the books were to support the Foundation Charity and the preface of one of the books expressly states this. The redirection of the money to Club Nook for the personal use of the Ingram-Moores is therefore a deception. Hopefully the enquiry will investigate fully.

    The family shouldn't of been in control of that charity money, every single penny should of gone straight to the NHS

    • @RedCyanPhotos
      @RedCyanPhotos 6 місяців тому +1

      It did, it’s the foundation they set up afterwards, when they realised how popular he was & how people were throwing money around because they liked him, that they could make use out of that. That’s the problem! The original money, from the walk, was collected by a charity money collecting website, that sends it straight to said Charity. So the family couldn’t even get their hands on it if they wanted to, it’s what was set up afterwards, The foundation, is where the problem started, and the stealing began. No doubt genuinely sending that much money to the NHS made them believe that people will be seeing such heroes and good people, that nobody would consider that they would then start billing themselves for dodgy services or paying themselves massive amounts of money for running this charity- that’s what all this is about, as well as taking the money from the proceeds of the three books he wrote, the books he said proceeds were to go to Charity for, but she has stolen that as well!
