I would have never been able to figure this out on my own. I'm just in a hurry to get things up and running and the forums are too messy for me, but these videos just make everything so nice and simple!
Also quick note you forgot to add-in. Some Systems along with some CFWs require you to into debug settings find system update debug and toggle it. If you get a error during your installation after you did the steps above try this.
@@AccountPlug try going into debug settings which is in in the settings tab and under the network. Then somewhere in there is a system update debug option you want that enabled it the install is not working after enabling qa toggle
@@116gamers can also fix issues with mounting PS2 isos. I had 4.86 rebug lite on a Slim model PS3 and was unable to launch mounted ps2 isos (even with games needing a config file). I downgraded to 4.84 REX and am able to launch mounted ps2 games again. Apparently it was a Cobra mode issue with newer Rebug versions
I was actually on CEX but this video helped me transfer to DEX when I downgraded, it also let's me transfer to DEX now I'm able to use mod menus for DEX now, awesome video.

I was able to downgrade from 4.90 to 4.89 (evilnat) using this method Please note that i had 2 corrupted data errors before the downgrade actually started… and during the installation the ps3 restarted at around 80%
Thanks for this video. Took 3 tries installing the program. First the menu wouldn't appear, so I clicked it again and didnt restart, the things appeared but said my update was corrupt. Third time I tried I restarted via rebug toolbox and it worked.
Is it possible that a lot of psp games aren't playable on ps3? Because I have REBUG 4.84.2 REX and I've tried plenty (DBZ shin Budokai, def jam, the warriors, bleach 2, samurai warriors, Naruto heroes 2), yet the PS3 games I've tried (Scott Pilgrim, arcana hearts 3) and ps2 games (DBZ Tenkaichi 3, God Hand, MVC 2) work, only ps2 game that didn't was Marvel Nemesis. Am I missing a step to make these work?
@@APMODZ okay I was gonna go to 4.84 id updated to 4.87 and it made the ps3 crash and messed up the ps2 emulation so was looking for the best firmware for that really playing ps1 2 and psp games

Using something like a E3 Flasher is only needed now if you're unbricking your system or there's another time period in which PS3Xploit tools don't work to jailbreak.

I have a question...i believe my file system is corrupted a bit. Here's why. Fyi. Im runing CFW REBUG 4.84.2 CEX I was watching a video link of converting BLUS31011 whatever black ops 2 into a BLES17017 version Apparently i needed to be in cobra mode while running multiman in order to create an ISO version of the disc because the standard version i was in cannot. I was unaware at the time that all i had to do to enable cobra mode was to go into the rebug toolbox.....well silly me decided to go towards the debug settings which was located more so to the right of the xmb menu (not currently looking at ps4) and toggle the cobra mode....once i clicked to toggle it, my ps3 began having issues with constant freezing and wouldn't load anything properly from xmb menu....i can get to system file restore but it stops about 63% through. If all else fails, i do have my 4.84.2 rebug update on my usb still. Should i hard reset ps4 and click " system update" and update via storage device choosing the same CFW i have?

Works in 2024 with evilnat 4.91. You wont get the won't get the button combo to bring up the menu, but it will still allow you to downgrade.. Was fooling around with my old PS3 and forgot you can't swap hard drives and upgrade one and expect the other to still work... woops..
the md5 checs out but the system still tells me the data is corrupted. I updated to 4.86 (rebug lite) no problem, then switched the pup to 4.82 (with qa toggled) and try to update and it gives me a (80029CCA)?!?!?!

Stupid question since I'm a *very* new PS3 owner, but are there any risks of bricking the console if I downgrade from Overflow 4.85 CEX(I got it premodded) to REBUG 4.84.2? I tried QA toggling and while it did show a black screen for a few seconds, it didn't show me the Edy Viewer thing when I tried doing the button combo and I honestly can't tell if it's toggled or not. Would it brick the console if I tried or would it just show an error screen and take me back to XMB? (in case something goes wrong with QA toggling)

I done exactly as you say and the button combination worked then went to load from USB and it loaded and restarted and immediately says The data is corrupt. (8002F169) I'm not sure what to do. I was already on 4.90. Then I done the evilnat 4.90 cex cobra 8.4 cfw. I don't it years ago with the e3 nor flasher. Same model but these new ways. I really have no clue any suggestions of my best approach. I'm thinking I might have to do it old school.
Not much else to it, although flashing via Recovery Mode always seems to be a good bet. Just make sure your firmware is in the right spot on your USB drive, and of course QA flag is toggled.
@MrMario2011 Thank you I figured it out. I watched your 4.90 hfw to cfw with the flash writer then found out there isnt much compatable at the moment. So i figured out I could reflash it twice with hfw then I went to 4.84 rebug. Then spoofed 4.90. And enabled SEN enabler. It's as far as I got. Trying to learn.
never mind I solved it by just downloading the regular (cex) of 4.90 and it finally showed only network settings so I was able to follow your steps and downgrade 😅

I'm running cobra CEX 4.85 and followed the steps up until actually have to update/downgrade but it says my update file is correct I made sure it was named PS3UPDAT.PUP I did the MD5 check and it was good but the system says it's corrupted I'm kinda stumped

Hi. I dont think you will see this, but: I am currently on 4.90 Evilnat PEX that I converted to DEX. Should I first convert to DEX before running this or should I just instal the Rebug Dex Version?

I am running 4.84 cfw but previous to this, the ps3 auto download the 4.85 ofw. It keeps prompting to start the update and I’m worried that my kids will accidentally start the update. Are there any programs to delete these prompts? I’ve looked into xmb lock but that only seems to support up to 4.81. Any ideas to protect the system from update?

I had this corruption issue with a 4.81 DREX. Swapped to a 4.81 REX and it worked after that

PSP game compatibility is low.

4.82.2 Dex is the best firmware to be on, has less issues getting online

Why are you on this video? HAN is not the same as CFW. Move on from HAN and install PS3HEN, I have a separate video on that.

Every time I open toggle qa my ps3 freezes on a black screen
I'm having a problem at the moment, I'm tryin to downgrade to 4.82.2 but I can't seem to get the file to work proper I download it an all change the name an stuff but it just says unavailable after I try to do the update after setting it all up
All the sudden the fat32 thumbprint that worked doesn't show up wtf. Guess that's what I get for not touching the ps3 in 6 months

Stupid question since I'm a *very* new PS3 owner, but are there any risks of bricking the console if I downgrade from Overflow 4.85 CEX(I got it premodded) to REBUG 4.84.2? I tried QA toggling and while it did show a black screen for a few seconds, it didn't show me the Edy Viewer thing when I tried doing the button combo and I honestly can't tell if it's toggled or not. Would it brick the console if I tried or would it just show an error screen and take me back to XMB? (in case something goes wrong with QA toggling)

I’m on 4.86 Rebug lite , going to downgrade to 4.84 and then after that to dex, I’ll let you know how it goes in a bit

I am on 4.85 Cobra Ferrox. I have sen enabler installed and running (for no apparent reason). I want to downgrade to 4.84 so that i can switch to Rebug. If i downgrade it as shown in video, will sen enabler cause some problems during the process? Do i need to disable it first?
I done exactly as you say and the button combination worked then went to load from USB and it loaded and restarted and immediately says The data is corrupt. (8002F169)
I'm not sure what to do. I was already on 4.90. Then I done the evilnat 4.90 cex cobra 8.4 cfw. I don't it years ago with the e3 nor flasher. Same model but these new ways. I really have no clue any suggestions of my best approach. I'm thinking I might have to do it old school.
Not much else to it, although flashing via Recovery Mode always seems to be a good bet. Just make sure your firmware is in the right spot on your USB drive, and of course QA flag is toggled.
@MrMario2011 Thank you I figured it out. I watched your 4.90 hfw to cfw with the flash writer then found out there isnt much compatable at the moment. So i figured out I could reflash it twice with hfw then I went to 4.84 rebug. Then spoofed 4.90. And enabled SEN enabler. It's as far as I got. Trying to learn.
Once i downgraded to rebug 4.82 i couldn't sign in to psn do you know how i can do that ?
Use SEN Enabler - fairly simple.
You have to install 4.84 REX Rebug and use PSN patch
when I use md5 checker it takes literally no time load but the checksum isn't anywhere near the md5 in the file i used the same download you did

never mind I solved it by just downloading the regular (cex) of 4.90 and it finally showed only network settings so I was able to follow your steps and downgrade 😅

I'm running cobra CEX 4.85 and followed the steps up until actually have to update/downgrade but it says my update file is correct I made sure it was named PS3UPDAT.PUP I did the MD5 check and it was good but the system says it's corrupted I'm kinda stumped

Hi Mario, I am unable to verify "Toggle QA Flag." Package manager shows no packages files found. Rebug Toolbox shows "Your system is not running on compatible REBUG COBRA configuration! Toggling COBRA will not be available."

You can downgrade to an OFW, although people do warn against it. The lowest I've personally downgraded my systems was 3.55

Hi. I dont think you will see this, but: I am currently on 4.90 Evilnat PEX that I converted to DEX. Should I first convert to DEX before running this or should I just instal the Rebug Dex Version?

I’ve been following all these videos in your guide, the other day I was playing FFVII had to go to work so I shut down, when I got home the console boots, green light but black screen, cables are fine, I end up moving it from monitor to a tv in house and it works fine, go back to monitor and it’s a no go... any ideas why it just magically stopped working on my monitor?

I am running 4.84 cfw but previous to this, the ps3 auto download the 4.85 ofw. It keeps prompting to start the update and I’m worried that my kids will accidentally start the update. Are there any programs to delete these prompts? I’ve looked into xmb lock but that only seems to support up to 4.81. Any ideas to protect the system from update?
