Rather interesting how far PS3 has come, only OG’s remember converting to DEX via FSM and that was quite risky & then Rebug with it’s toolbox & now Evilnat straight from the xmb.
Hey bro I’m 25 and literally only just getting into this lol I got a jail broken ps3 Saturday Broke it last night lol and finally got it working today I was on 4.90 and cobra 4.8 but i crashed it hard and was stuck in some update loop reinstalled the 4.90 evilnat cobra 4.8 but I don’t have cex to dex anymore ( someone I’m talking to is super adamant I need to go down to 4.84 firmware not 4.90 ) You seem super knowledgeable and obviously been doing this a long time lol do you fancy helping/teaching me
@@Tizzy_p you don’t have to be on DEX if you don’t want to, I prefer my consoles be on DEX (4.84 is just more stable that’s why your buddy is saying that + you can go online straight away on 4.84) but for the average consumer, they probs don’t need to be on DEX, if you play backups & casually mod games then no real reason for DEX.

@@erickk44 you honestly jus gotta see if your 1000% console banned, converting to dex changes your console ID, going into PSN patch should tell you your real(original one that came with console) and then current, you got to take a photo of it, go to webman setup IDPS settings, jus scroll down when loading up webman setup and it’s near the bottom and with the photo you took, put the real console id not the current, and change the 84 to 89 something along the lines of that, kinda got to play with it, make sure you check the IDPS box when doing it and keep it checked and click save, reboot and if it doesn’t work try the current console id and change the 84 to either 89 or 82 try it a few times and if it doesn’t work u may be console banned and will more then likely need to buy a new cid, but more then likely it’s due to you converting to dex, so u probably aren’t cid banned

if for some reason you want to change the evilnat boot logo and you want the original ps3 logo then do the fallowing: ps3 menu >> network >> Custom firmware tools > basic options > coldboot and after that all you have to do is basically restart your console.
Thanks dude, you saved me. I have a second hand ps3 and had a D-PEX. Now I can switch to CEX and install the official 4.90 to install all the CFW from scratch. Before that, the console does not recognize any updates.
For now I had to switch back to cex until I get time to set up a cex spoofer because when switching to dex your console prevents you from changing your console ID (it locks it from being changed because you will be banned when you sign in to psn on dex) in short your console prevents you from signing in to psn on dex without a spoof

Whats the differences from evilnat 4.90 dex and rebug dex? And technically couldnt you download the pure dex version afterwards and not have to use d-pex? If i convert to dex i have no plans converting back to cex as ive always found dex to be significantly more better , but from what i hear 4.90 dex isnt as good as rebug dex. This might get a lil messy but please just bare with me , my PS3 has a non working BD , does only evilnat 4.90 have it to where you can mount disc ripped games? Heya man, idk if you'll see this, but i have a rather silly question, i installed the CFW like a year or so ago but with the addon of "+NoBD" cause i had issues with my drive and wouldn't read and needed to replace the laser.. long story short now that i have fixed it, i wonder can i just straight up download the normal CEX without the "+NoBD" addon? Or do i need to factory reset or convert to OFW then install the normal CEX?
I already followed your step and it worked but when i check system information through rebug toolbox it said the LV2 Kernel is still CEX not DEX, is this normal?

I'm fine opening it up to read eeproms if that's ever possible (i've dumped my fair share of bioses and roms years back). Maybe I should start by cloning the HDD just in case.

I Fixed It. Just converter to DEX. and i was stuck to get online. In CFW TOOLS u have to go to PSN SETTINGS and SPOOF TARGET ID. and finish. You can go Online.👌

I remember jailbreaking and converting to DEX and running real time mods before anyone knew how to do it. Must of used 400 console IDs over the years.

Fixed it up it was just cause i had recently converted to Dex so i just “Spoof Target” and was able to go online

There are modified versions of rebug 4.84 on psxplace that have no BD or no BT support

You don't upgrade or downgrade from D-PEX to PEX, you convert it.
If the BD drive is totally missing including the logic board (daughterboard), is there no way to boot homebrew ?

Converting to DEX is not needed for that. A jailbreak with CFW will get you.

A console ban won't ban you from accessing your network.

If the hard drive is dead, you'd need a HDD recovery service and some software which requires the EID_root_key of the console it came from.

It will not be physically possible to disable that option on retail hardware. Only developer hardware.

I Fixed It. Just converter to DEX. and i was stuck to get online. In CFW TOOLS u have to go to PSN SETTINGS and SPOOF TARGET ID. and finish. You can go Online.👌

CFW consoles only.
Super Slims are not compatible with custom firmware, you would either need an original PS3 (phat) or a slim model
