Kaws has legit permission from all these other companies to use their imagery in his art and everyone profits from the sales, he worked as an illustrator for a number of famous cartoons. He has developed clout. All you did was take his art and slapped it around your brand...so who’s getting ripped off 🤔🤔🤔🤔
@@insanedb 🤣 crossed eyes and crossbones have been branded in many different brands for ages. Each one unique in style which is what Kaws did. He created his own version of a crossbone skull but this is straight up ripping off Kaws by putting his crossbones on products to make it look like he collaborated. Another example of another artist making his own version of something is takashi murakami, anyone notice his flowers look like the baby first flower on tv? Just changed the eyes and mouth and he made his own version of it.
Idk if im wrong but art is art he still draws it and puts some inspiration into it and he needs to get payd i think kaws is a good guy and his art is great
Holy shit. I just had an epiphanie. You know how people usually hate knockoffs because they are just copies with a slight twist? People try to go for the "original" authentic version. Apart from loose copyright laws the social stigma of knockoffs kept designers away from getting a knockoff popular. KAWS, though, he took that concept, and made a "knockoff" which has its own twist, but since that TWIST is recognizable and pretty cool, he used the "knockoff" stigma to actually take advantage of that loophole.
omg i loved this video. this is a LONG shot, but I'm attending my first ComplexCon this weekend in Chi. Might you be in attendance and have this shirt for sale complete with Uniqlo tags??
Isn’t there some hidden rule in tagging that you should never let your style become corporatized or mainstream? Because the point of tagging is that it’s supposed to remain underground and rebellious and if you make it mainstream, then that defeats the purpose.
I really believe Kaws was re-inserted back in Th matrix by an agent. His comeup makes zero sense , not in the top 20 in any field from graffiti to drawings , one of the most overated artists ever . I don’t knock him for gainin profit but calling a spade a spade
I think this is actually a really good practical example of some historical art interpretations such as marcel duchamps original urinal then the copying of it afterwards, I think art theory tells us that taking a risk in art and breaking boundaries is artistic process and this example was a great modernisation of that. I want a shirt now, even knowing it's fake, after watching this as it could be a little piece of history! When they talk about Kaws there might be huge discussions about the interpretation of his work and artists who did. I also appreciate that this was done in a time were property outweighs artistic growth and profit is the primary interest.
the reason why profit is the primary interest over "artistic growth" is because of content like this. this isn't an interpretation of his work. what has been interpreted? both his illustration AND style has been simply taken and put with their logo - there is no personality from them. there is a conceptual and fundamental difference between what marcel duchamp did and what this video aims to do. marcel duchamp was challenging social ideas and took risks because he wanted to make fun of traditionalist art - he made that his defining signature. kaws did his own when he played with advertisements. push product is poor, needed money and decided to take advantage of kaws' work to get more subscribers. they do not have any creativity.
This isn't the same, you're doing it wrong. KAWS takes other people's art and makes it his own and he actually collaborated with other artists. Similar to the lo-fi, SoundCloud, remix, vaporwave, etc music genres of today. You're taking your own art and making it look like KLAWS but you're the one taking all the money.
“How can we be fun, creative, smart, aaaand reach people” In other words “how can we make money” “And this is how you rip off a rip off artist and claim it’s OK because you aren’t the first one to do it”
Nibba this isn’t a good thing to promote especially if he placed these shirts in them uniqlo as well as at the time when uniqlo was selling their collaboration with kaws. Kaws can sue and the customers and uniqlo. It wouldn’t stop there you can go to jail for this. Selling fakes to customers is fully against the law.

keep grinding this channel is on the verge of blowing up
Man, watta great video! Immediately subbed. Y'all nailed every bit of the rise of KAWS and the rise to the brand's iconic stardom. Y'all went crazy on this one for real for real, i'm more than willing to go crazy on the next. Good Looks!
11:40
This is the first video I have seen of you and it’s innovative, creative and I love it.
That nigga going to low-key sue your ass 😂
this a great channel but this is dumb. there is a difference between ripping someone directly off and tasteful bootlegging lol
"So tell us your name and why you chose that name"
"My name is Kaws and basically it was super original and a weird word I made and just cause"
Sounds like someone is a lil butt hurttt😬
sounds like you are butt hurt! you clearly didn't watch the video and if you did then you are dum af no to understand why they did it.
Milena Orjuela ur mom
i feel like the hustle behind pushing these shirts were so well thought out that people that bought it should keep it as a souvenir like he said... it shows that a lil experimenting can create revenue without doing things the traditoonal way.. and besides KAWS didnt take it too serioues because he's familiar with the rinse and repeat procedure in the art/fashion culture
Try harder. I like KAWS. Look how many people he is inspiring. His lines are super clean. He’s world renowned.
I like kaws but i love Banksy
I had this idea but simply just to take a KAWS photo and add my own character just like he used to with the ads, as apart of my series of work called unCULTURED. This is amazing and way more over the top and I love it, this is the shit that artists and designers blow up from
Kaws has legit permission from all these other companies to use their imagery in his art and everyone profits from the sales, he worked as an illustrator for a number of famous cartoons. He has developed clout. All you did was take his art and slapped it around your brand...so who’s getting ripped off 🤔🤔🤔🤔
the skull the X's eyes and the bones are a rip off of a brand of skateboardind products called Bones, its not even his idea
@@wcj_ink the funny thing is that you consider that as art you are just as sub product
To get my name out there I streamed minecraft for 12 hours
I’ve never heard of you guys before but this video. Bro this video was very high quality. I subbed and will continue watching your videos.
omg i loved this video. this is a LONG shot, but I'm attending my first ComplexCon this weekend in Chi. Might you be in attendance and have this shirt for sale complete with Uniqlo tags??
Loved every minute of the video, good stuff
ok
"Good artist copy, great artists steal" - Picasso
Picasso what was a dumbass and im happy hes dead, he made cubism for the simple man, not the artist. What a prick.
Kaws changed the Originals and made it His, thats NOT stealing, you stole His completely and put it on your ugly Box. I can smell the jelousy.
they did the same thing that Kaws has done throughout his career. do you think he paid Disney to use the mickey mouse body for his toy? FOH
Made it his.... HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Isn’t there some hidden rule in tagging that you should never let your style become corporatized or mainstream? Because the point of tagging is that it’s supposed to remain underground and rebellious and if you make it mainstream, then that defeats the purpose.
dope design!! I just bought a PUSH PRODUCT x KAWS shirt.
You just bought a fake ass , wack ass tshirt idiot.....congrats
you just fell for their marketing scam so you should try and get a refund lol
it’s actually a real shirt with a fake illustration. they just used blanks, the same KAWS blanks. listening is fundamental
@@Chayse- .....it's actually really wack......
TheGuillotinedream never said it was the best shirt 😂 but it’s definitely the same quality
Got recommended to me, hope it blows up and y’all get some recognition, this vid was hella well produced
this is lowkey just fraud ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
can't people say that they want their money back, when they found out that it is not real kaws? (it sounds fucking illegal to me)
Dude I work at Uniqlo I gotta ask about those shirts
Derrick Westby same hahaha
What was the second pic of the cartoon on the left ?
I really believe Kaws was re-inserted back in Th matrix by an agent. His comeup makes zero sense , not in the top 20 in any field from graffiti to drawings , one of the most overated artists ever . I don’t knock him for gainin profit but calling a spade a spade
Y’all should run these in podcast form so I can listen while I work
Need more friends who think like these guys.
Loved the video but how did Uniqlo let you modify there own apparel and sell it in store
He is not a ripoff... he was smart....its a cut and paste sociaty...he just capitalized on it...
On top of that he had to ask permission for snoopy and the other collabs.
When you let your friend copy off of you but change up the answers a little bit, but the changes gave him a A+
What kaws did was unfair. But he managed to become popular by ripping off others creation.
Plot twist
This was just an elaborate commercial and we wasted 15 minutes of our lives.
Did everyone buying the product know it wasn't actually kaws or uni qlo
Ivan Harris NOPE but he emailed everyone who made an order LMAO
3 yrs later and this video is STILL A BANGER!
Do how ripndip became ripndip
Kaws is an inspiration. I hope he was down with your unofficial collab!
And that's what it means to push product
Fuck you
“How can we be fun, creative, smart, aaaand reach people”
In other words “how can we make money”
“And this is how you rip off a rip off artist and claim it’s OK because you aren’t the first one to do it”
👏
This is awesome. It's raw, insightful, straightforward. That's everything I need to learn #pushproduct
Are you going to be re-stocking the shirts?
Sick vid! Do asspizza next?
Ryan Barclay I like asspizza :(
This guys obviously doesn’t get the concept of a collaboration.
Gaming Smilodon you clearly don’t get the whole point of the video
Or licensing 🤣
Nibba this isn’t a good thing to promote especially if he placed these shirts in them uniqlo as well as at the time when uniqlo was selling their collaboration with kaws. Kaws can sue and the customers and uniqlo. It wouldn’t stop there you can go to jail for this. Selling fakes to customers is fully against the law.
shamir fisher exactly
lol the most longwinded way to say we made a bootleg shirt. i hope kaws sues the yall to oblivion
But the most crazy thing was the $4k you did with them sales :D
Help me steal the beat from 10:20 I have lyrics for it
Your just all pissed cus ur jealous of his work it’s kind of obvious. The guy isn’t doing anything wrong. Graffiti is one of the biggest forms of art and numerous graphic designers and artists come from that background
