@Boqoreh Precision how do you get connections? BY WORKING HARD! (Hustle) Stop projecting your failures and discrediting his success by saying it's his "connections ".
People pay big bucks for artwork..whether it be clothing or paintings people that don't understand will always badmouth the efforts. while the ones who understand its inspiration simply appreciate its beauty or "swagger" for clothing
He’s not any different than supreme and bape he’s following there exact principles; create limited quantities, get famous people to wear it, knowing there will be a resell market for it his company will grow...pretty basic
I wouldn’t compare off-white to raf, kawakubo, or yohji, as those brands/designers are much more attuned to the tailoring of the clothing and less concerned with the overt branding design ethos that off white is. Although Virgil has worked incredibly hard and off-white looks to be more than just a blip in fashion.
we are sorry you didn't like that. we are not trying to push our logo in your face, we are just watching for people who might want to steal our video in the future. but thank you for the support. more great content coming soon.

Man this channel needs more love which is so well deserved with its high quality content. I hope you do this full time and release videos on a regular basis. There is alot of stuff to talk about streetwear and i like your take on it.
Thank you, but we are not just trying to focus on streetwear but instead on people who we think are creative enough to inspire other creators. more great content coming soon.
I knew Pyrex and Off-white were connected, and I forgot Virgil was apart of RSVP and Been Trill. Makes a lot of my high school fashion + art research much more clear now
All you need to do to become a "fashion designer" now is slap a logo onto some clothes. Its crazy to me because Ive been sewing for over 10 years and have a degree in fashion design, so I know a lot about the industry. Designers dont do anything but put their name on a label. Most of the clothes we wear today are designed by someone else & sewn in another country, but nobody gets the credit except for the big names. Its so disheartening to see but that is what the industry has become🤷🏾♀️.
i understand where you're coming from, you've put in a lot of work to get to where you are but do you think that in order to be a "fashion designer" you need to be accredited by an institution and sew for 10 years at least? I think its awesome how people like virgil are breaking these traditional barriers i think we will always be jealous of someone else success. off white and virgil have brought a lot of new and young people into this conversation and they are challenging the old ways. maybe its just an illusion but isn't that the point?
Great video. Very clean, not trying to over compensate, while being very informative and laying out a good timeline without being mono toned. Keep it up.
As an Architect and designer I can see the influence that that the school of Architecture and disciple left in Virgil. We are taught to use a presedence and study it to adopt its principles Not it’s design physically but it’s design principles to build our own design. He is using a lot of the thought process that goes on when designing a building and incorporating it to fashion design. He can apply it in infinite ways. He has potential to do soooo many more designs and not only deconstruction. In Architecture school we learn about Aaaalllll the art movements and sooo much more even engineeeing. That’s why we only sleep 3 hours a day for 6 years only sleeping 8 hrs on Fridays. Only we know the struggle it takes. Does he have potential to create other movements if fashion??? Yes Is he staying for long? Yes
Key components to establishing a brand : Value , Legitimacy & Evolution ... props to whoever directed this clip , intellectual but make it fashion. I believe this is only the beginning for Virgil.
Virgil had famous friends...He put his clothing on them and the masses wanted what they could not have... Virgil is playing chess while his audience/customer base is playing go fish.
Watch the documentary “everything is a remix” to understand that everything comes from everything that preceded it, there is no such thing as originality.
I absolutely hate Virgil Ablo’s aesthetic. But, I can’t help but respect his genius at being able to manipulate an impressionable fashion, not style, fashion market.
I've seen off white everywhere on social media and never really knew the story behind it. Thank you for breaking it down. I think it's a trend, like a lot of things in fashion. It'll pass, go away for a while and then come back and "reworked" by someone who does it a lil differently with their own twist/wrinkle on it. Good stuff no doubt. Thank you for sharing
There are a lot of people who are better than him. It just so happen he got the right exposure and right connections. Nothing against him his work are dope. But there are a lot of designer who can make a better one. I just wish they will have the same chance as Virgil.
I WAS REALLY IMPRESSED WITH THE INFORMATION YOU SHARED ABOUT OFF WHITE. I HAVE A NEW APPRECIATION FOR THE BRAND. AND I''M INTRIGUED TO FIND OUT WHAT'S NEXT FOR THIS TALENTED BLACK MAN. THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR KNOWLEDGE.
Heron, palm angels and Samuel Ross are all apart of that same circle. Samuel Ross is the actual reason off white looks the way it does. Virgil hires him before Ross decided to make his own brand
Some of these facts aren't even true. Virgil said his reason for "pyrex" was the measuring cups that were typically pyrex used in the hood to make drugs and the hustle of it. The 23 was Jordan who he looked up to. Putting these together was to juxtapose the similarities but differences of each hustle; making money in the hood, and making it big in the industry.
I'm not gonna subscribe because I was just curious about this video but since you guys are starting off this channel and you put some nice efforts to make a nice video, I'll let my like and this comment :) keep up with the good content
He is also bringing back the deconstructivism art movement started by El Lyzitsky who was also an Architect and Graphic designer. Who is also the father of modernism with a focus of studying the pure forms or abstraction and geometry and the Golden mean theory. I can see El Lyzitskys famous painting reflected in all of The sneakers specially on the Muslims Air Max 90s. Smart move by Virgil. Long live modernism. Study of pure form.
Awesome video! Btw, i didnt get one part, does that mean, Virgil had Jordans and Champions support when starting PYREX? I mean, was it a collaboration or simply rebranding cuz that is a bit confusing in terms of copyright and comission share.
I believe he didn't ask permission. He just bought a bunch of champion and polo stuff removed their tags and screen-printed "pyrex" onto them. there's no copyright infringement I believe (I might be wrong) when he removed their tags, he was not taking advantage of their brand. but don't quote me on that. I am not a copyright lawyer.
Virgil is not a creative, he's a wannabe kanye. This is graphic design majors' worst nightmare; someone got it SO EASY as to simply plaster word processor graphics on garments almost exclusively inspired by raf, rick owens, and helmut lang. Margiela pioneered the reconstructed aesthetic in the early 90's, along with Rei and Yohji in the mid 80's (but in different ways.) This man rides the coattails of his idols, which is normal, but where it crosses the line is when his naive consumer base credits him with pioneering the vision - and he selfishly takes credit for it.
I’m so sick of people idolizing Virgil for for like, nothing. He’s a god to lots of people for what making objectively ugly clothing? It’s honestly just a fad that has stuck for too long

💯
agreed, his clothes are overhyped trash by hollywood pedophiles
but what about the north face, Patagonia etc I've never seen those on celebrities and they're super successful
He got connections. That’s why.
Anjo Lazaro right.... being a part of Kanye’s lines and Been Trill def helped
I will say his Woman's collection never disappoints. But he does have a good connection list.
Like any big name artist
@@missericajeanette That's so fucking wrong. Marcelo Burlon who told him "Start OW Project at Milano" and Justin Bieber helped a lot at 2015
connections are just one factor to create a strong lasting brand.
Its not his design that got him to where he is. It's a hustle that me and everyone in the comments wish we had lol. I applaud his hustle.
Hustle as in connections?
Real💩
@Boqoreh Precision how do you get connections? BY WORKING HARD! (Hustle) Stop projecting your failures and discrediting his success by saying it's his "connections ".
How Virgil took $20 clothes and priced them at $600 with hardly any design
Better than supreme
Virgil trolling all these kids.
can't deny his hustle! he could've just stay an architect.

*oh! thank you sO M U C H!* Not only are they old but they show a lack of creativity or effort or both.
This is the only reason I came the comments haha. he's really trying too hard. Almost cringe level.

It should have been funnier then it would have sticked

daniel scibor I actually like some designs tho unlike them
Bape is way more creative then off white and at least supreme drops cool accessories not only gear
The owner of supreme hates that it’s a hype brand, and he didn’t get famous people to wear it, they wore it because they wanted to.
The difference is the majority of the pieces besides the sneakers are just basic clothing items with print on them
Ibrahim ramirez if he hates that then why does he make it so expensive and limited??

The genius in Abloh's process is the simplicity behind it all. He started with what he had/could, and never gave up.
Cool video man, really intrigued to see where OFF-WHITE goes as a brand.
Deconstruction in fashion was Martin margiela. Virgil was inspired by him
