    Never owned a SNES or any other Nintendo consoles so I never played these games and tbh I never thought I was missing out. On the other hand most of the Nintendo handhelds , exception being the switch light , I really liked and still play and buy games for.

    Collecting video games can be very expensive and take up a lot of space. A friend wanted to start buying a lot of Super Nintendo games because those were his favorite games as a kid. Not to collect them but to play them. I told him there was a way to get to play all the SNES games he wanted and not to have to pay a cent to get them and not have to store them. Download a SNES emulator and download ROMs of the games. He did it and said I saved him thousands of dollars. Plus I said no matter how many SNES carts of Chrono Trigger and Super Mario World he buys it is nothing new but exactly the same old game he remembers. I told him there are ROM hacks of these classics that hackers change the games and you can play new different versions of the games. There are fan retranslations of Chrono Trigger closer to the Japanese Super Famicom version and new versions where you can save Schala and one with a completely new area added. A completely playable 1999. I told him there are ROM hacks, at least a dozen of them, that are completely new versions of Super Mario World. The best reason not to get into buying a lot of original carts is you can play the games for free on ROM hacks on your computer with an emulator. I have told a lot of my friends the advantages of ROM hacks and they sold all their video games to get the cash and free up the space. All the Super Nintendo games you ever wanted on one little thumb drive AND completely new versions of old favorites. .

    I’d say super castlevania, UN Squadron, Super Double Dragon, Batman Returns, Final Fight 1, 2 and 3, Gradius 3, Sunset Riders, Mega man X’s, and Final Fantasy 2&3. And various others like Metroid, Metal Marines, Shadowrun, and Knights of the Round.

    Starting to rebuild my SNES collection after my ex sold mine. Ouch!... Had 50 of the greatest games but to buy back most of them would cost me a fortune. Deciding if buying a SNES mini would be worth it for the price. To buy each game separately would cost more . ....BUT i like the original cartridge format and putting in passwords. Great video though...made me think of games I would like to purchase

    I haven't played Super Mario World, my first Nintendo console was the N64. I own it, but I haven't played it. I haven't played Zelda either. Fzero doesn't have polygons, the SNES can only do those with the FX chip, its actually distorted sprites, AKA Mode 7. Fzero won't get another update simply because Mr Miyamoto said he doesn't know where to take the franchise. The last version which was done by Sega also bombed on sales which I believe was the Gamecube version. You mention that the SNES was doing incredible things with Yoshi's island which came out towards the end of the SNES lifespan, but what most people don't talk about is all the custom chips that were inside the cartridges of these games. Yoshi's island is boosted by one of the FX chips. When consoles went to disc there wasn't any upgrades you could do. But with the SNES, there were lots of extra chips in those cartridges towards the end of the SNES lifespan cycle. The most powerful chip went into Street Fighter Alpha 2.

    The first one is great, don't get me wrong, but I do and have always thought Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest is the greatest of all three DKC games. Dixie Kong is the greatest of all the Kongs with her hair spin, and the way both Diddy and she gotta team up to kill certain enemies and obtain certain items is so cool. It also has better bosses and animal buddies than the first game IMO.

    3 of my most rare and expensive SNES games are Dragon Quest V, Dragon Quest VI and Final Fantasy V put out by a small retro gaming company called Timewalk Games. Did this company have any connection to Nintendo? When did these games come out? The 3 games I mentioned were released in Japan for the Super Famicom but not in the U.S. In the 1990's as far as I know. These games were originally English translated ROMs playable on an SNES emulator on a computer. This Timewalk game company put out these English translations on SNES reproduction carts with reproduction SNES labels in boxes that look like original SNES boxes. Do you have any of these Timewalk games or any others this company produced? I have a LOT of my gaming friends searching for these Timewalk games but can't find them for sale on eBay or any retro gaming store.

    I finished Contra 3 at Notts game fair, and people were watching lol. I reckon you ought to try beat it on stream casually at some point when doing a snes stream - even if you do save states between stages - even though I know you dont like Save States. i used them to learn Super Ghouls n ghosts, as you know. Thats nice the shop owner let you have Contra for 9.50 haha. I always think of Contra 3 as "Contra Spirits" cause thats what he magazines called it before released, based on Japanese translation.
    I remember my brother ringing up a phone number in the Ad Mag to buy DKC 1 - and it turned out to be our next door neighbour selling it LOL. So weird.

    I was a Sega guy, but I had to submit to the fact that the SNES was an incredible system. I got mine in 1993 when it dropped to $99 (US) and SFII Turbo came out (Favorite stages are Chun Li and Sagat). I loved all of the games that you mentioned, but no SNES list is complete without mentioning Chrono Trigger.

    Confirmed I've never really played Super Mario World. Played like 10 minutes total when I was 12. I have the game on my Wii but never got around to playing it. I think I've played like 30 minutes or an hour of Mario 64. I can't get the beginning of the second world of Donkey Kong Country.
    I think difficulty is the main reason why I'm not a big Nintendo gamer. Their games are JUST TOO HARD. I like Starfox but could only ever beat it on Easy.
    I own over a thousand video games. LOL

    • @darinherrick9224
      @darinherrick9224 2 роки тому

      Also: never been a fan of Street Fighter 2 due to (you guessed it) difficulty. I love Virtua Fighter, enjoy some of the Marvel vs and Darkstalkers games, own some weird obscure fighting games, even enjoy Street Fighter IV, but SFII is JUST TOO HARD. I can't past like the second level so it's basically unplayable for me.
      Owned A Link to the Past. Played like five minutes and knew the game wasn't for me. Same with Super Metroid.
      Fortunately the Contra Collections on PS4 allow you to play contra games with the easier difficulty so I can look forward to that.
      I've played TMNT on both Genesis and SNES and don't understand the hype at all. They are just mediocre brawlers to me.
