Their act is genius. They certainly got some inspiration from The Amazing Randy, who was also very fond of the skepticism and "magic isn't real" sort of thing
@@MartinDolan Exactly. There are two very very very very very slightly unnatural movements of Teller. In the beginning he's holding the can too far over the hand for spraying. That's when he uses the magnet to pick the blade. After spraying he puts the can into his left hand, grabs the blade with his right hand and puts it into his jacket. But even if you know how the trick works after watching it half a dozen times, it's great, creative and artistic. The illusion works, and it is even more impressive when you see how nearly seamless the manipulation fits into the natural movement of the hands.
For those wondering how he got the blade out, the can is magnetic. If you notice teller passes the can over the blade before he starts spraying it. Then watch his hand and the can. After which he loads the blade and when he turns over the grapefruit he's rolling it back to insert the blade into it moments before he cuts it open.
That was some seriously smooth misdirection from Teller, he insert the razor blade by stabbing the grapefruit first, then cuts at a different angle. He makes it look so natural.
I love how Conan goes for a handshake and teller shakes with his left hand and moments later... oh Conan you’ve got something behind your ear, let me use my right hand to pull a... RAZORBLAAADE!!

At 5:00 you can see Teller reach into his right pocket to get the razor blade, and he gets out his knife, and he holds the razor blade against the knife blade with his thumb at 5:08. That's why his thumb doesn't leave the blade at all, until 5:26 when he stabs the orange and shoves the blade into it.
4:31 - Probably a magnet on Teller's Creme bottle, just strong enough to lift the blade off of Conan's Hand. Then you can see the subtle finger movements of Teller's right hand moving the blade towards his palm.
I was gonna write a comment about how cheap those tricks were and then, all of a sudden, Teller pulls that razor blade from behind Conan's ear and I'm blown away.
how did conan let the "were going to be cutting into this grapefruit, which btw has the same consistency as cutting into human flesh" line slide without a comment loll
On a boardwalk in NJ I saw a street magician produce a tightly rolled 20 that was signed in this manner from an orange he cut into and to this day I think it was the most incredible trick I've ever seen in person
He pushed the razor blade into the orange when he first cut it with a knife. You can see him holding it with his thumb against the knife. That’s why he turned the orange around after the initial cut.
First cut put the razor into the grapefruit, 2nd cut pushed it down and then he flipped the fruit around to actually cut it in half to "reveal" the razorblade.
When Teller sprays the shaving foam in Conan's hand, he slips the blade into his hand holding it against the can. Then he puts yhe can down and puts the blade to his side. When he cuts into the grapefruit, youll notice he stabs the grapefruit with the knife first, then wipes and cuts yhe grapefruit. When ue stabs the grapefruit, thats when he plunges the blade into the fruit. Then he cuts it ipen, revealing the blade. Even if you look carefully, ots so hard to get it. Teller is truly the goat.
Teller palms the razorblade out of the shaving cream (only reason both sprayed the cream). Puts it in his right pocket. You can see him holding the blade with his thumb against the knife blade (that he takes from his right pocket) and pushes it into grapefruit. You can see this is what he did, because after pushing the razorblade in, his thumb moves back to the normal position you have when holding a knife. Still very fun and funny. Especially the “that must be a familiar sensation” dig.

teller had a magnet on his can of shaving cream. he presses it against the razor blade in conans hand. (hence the weird off center placement) and took it as they were filling Conan's hand.
SPOILER ALERT: Teller took the blade out of his hand when he sprayed the foam...then put it in the grapefruit on the first cut of two....very very clever and he did it right in front of him. Teller is a master of slight of hand.
Conan, you should do another of your Lullaby's about our current situation. The last time I saw one of those was one from 2017, would be interesting to see one these days. Anyway, y'all have a good day.
Obviously there's a ton of misdirection in this trick, but I really like the tactile misdirection they use on Conan. A razor blade is pretty light, but you'd still notice if it was removed from your palm. But the shaving cream on his hand distracts him from that sensation while also hiding Teller's sleight of hand. Very nice! Always more impressed when a magician can fool the volunteer on stage as well as the rest of the audience.
Teller clearly slid it into his sleeves rights as he sprayed the foam. They used shaving cream on purpose cause you can't really feel anything. Super skilled. The grape fruit baffles me
@4:30 the razor blade on the Conan's hand is lifted by a magnet hidden in the foam cans. When Conan is asked to squeeze his hand covered in foam, either Penn or Teller insert the signed blade into a slit (pre-cut) in the grapefruit. When Juggling, Conan says "stop" however The orange that is picked is always the one that has the blade because that is how they planned it. When the grapefruit is cut in half the blade is reveled and the illusion is complete.
I think Teller inserts the razorblade _after_ the grapefruit is chosen. You see Teller cutting an X shape into the grapefruit, then he stops cutting, shuffles his arms a little, wipes the knife on the handkerchief, then turns the X shaped cut away from the camera/audience. I think that's when he inserts the razorblade into the grapefruit, at 5:33, because you can see that Teller has one hand one the grapefruit, but he's shuffling that hand around a little.
I saw that Penn took the razor out of conan's hand he put it in his pocket. When he pulled out the knife he also pulled out the blade. When he made the first cut he slid the razor down the blade of the knife into the grapefruit. Incredible slight of hand, not cutting himself and all.
Amazing slowing down to .25 speed you can see the slight of hand movements but even on camera keeps the razors hidden with a different slight of hand each time.

Connan about ruined the ear trick teying to shake tellers hand lol!!!
That wrist slashing joke went over everyone’s head lol
"Aaaaa... mmm!"
"That's a familiar sensation."
😂😂😂
White possibly the best part of this bit. When he squeezes the shaving cream in his hand. 😂😂😂
At 4:31 you see Teller take the razor away along the bottle and put it away into his pocket.
Thats a familiar sensation 🤣
Penn and Teller are National Treasures. I love these so much. No Homo
2:24 that face lmao
That taller dude sold a book to Joey on Friends.. Didn't he? 😂
I saw that Penn took the razor out of conan's hand he put it in his pocket. When he pulled out the knife he also pulled out the blade. When he made the first cut he slid the razor down the blade of the knife into the grapefruit. Incredible slight of hand, not cutting himself and all.
Teller is amazing
love them both
Amazing slowing down to .25 speed you can see the slight of hand movements but even on camera keeps the razors hidden with a different slight of hand each time.
3:24 Conan looked like he really wanted to bite that grapefruit
3:18
“All I’m doing in this Trick is holding this here, I feel like a complete moron.”
Do you wanna try Palming the Razor Blades, Conando!?!?!?!?!?
Penn is the ONLY guest Conan’s ever had who’s taller than him.
Okay, I guess I forgot about Shaq, who’s 7’1”, but Penn is probably number two tallest.
