For some reason this sent my sides into orbit
*The Reveal:*
*Set up:*
The pack of cards was organized in a way Penn remembered, the shuffle in the beginning was "the juggle", he practiced on that shuffle before. After the shuffle, the pack was organized in the way he remembered every single position of every card. Teller had his own four pack of cards, one for every sign (heart, diamond etc.), And the gimmick of them is a 13 buttons on the other side that slowly pushes a card, and every pack has all 13 cards + fake cards, and all of them with the same sign.
*The Penn part:*
*Illusion:*
In 2:27 Penn shuffled the cards, but didn't really, he took about 15 cards from the top, and mixed them back to the top, which had no effect on the magic since Jimmy cut the pack in the middle.
*The cheat:*
In 2:56 Penn had a peek at the face of his cards, and since he remembers the order of cards, he knew what card Jimmy's going to pick, and how many cards does he has in his hands.
*The signal:* _(only if you're in a team)_
In 3:02 Penn delivers Teller the information he has, he lifts the pack *9* times, and makes a weird shake in his hand that signaled the *hearts* (he had three other pre approved moves that hinted the other three signs), that's how Teller knew it is the *9* of *hearts.*
*The Teller part:*
*The show:*
In 4:05 Teller reaches into his jacket and searched for the *heart* sign pack, he takes it out and opens it up.
*The illusion:*
In 4:17 Teller takes a flower as a distraction from the fact that in the other side, he spins a roller that pulls the *9,* he had 12 other rollers that would've spin the other 12 cards out.
*The end:*
Well unsurprisingly Teller was "right" and Jimmy's card was the *9* of *hearts,* they didn't force the card or faked anything.
*The vote:*
Just watch the video there's nothing to not understand with the votes.. JK lol hope it helped you understand the magic and how magic tricks usually work. Have fun i was the YOYOMAN. ;)

The real trick is that Penn convinced you to forget he is a magician and believe he was a juggler in that act, and then applaud him for being a juggler.
Penn has always said he is “carnie trash”. He graduated clown college, after all. Most of his acts are mentalism, juggling and other miscelanous acts of wonder. Teller has always been the “magician” of the two, and in their shows, he is always the one doing slight of hand, disappearances and such.

The trick is revealed at 2:55
Penn has memorized the order of the deck and the shuffle he does is false. He instructs Jimmy to cut 'a little more' than half way, this is to make it a bit harder to throw off the audience, and if he messed up the top few cards. Since he knows the exact order of the deck, he sneaks a peek at the bottom of the stack as he turns them over at the 2:55 mark. Since he knows the bottom card is the 9 of Spades for example, and the 9 of Spades is 26, then 9 of Hearts is 27. Teller also knows the order of the deck, and when he hears Penn say '27' he knows the next card would be the 9 of Hearts.
HEARTS*. And you're wrong.
@@CB-xr1eg You're right! I misspelled hearts twice!
But how am I wrong about how the trick was done? Explain please
@@TractorsNStuff I'm sorry but you must know I can't reveal magicians secrets on a public forum. Silly of you to ask really.
There's a real cool thing you can do with cards. Once their in a set order even cutting them chanfes nothing. If its say ace two three six clubs hearts spades diamonds (chased as its called) if you cut it and the six is on top its still ace two there six it just starts with the six. So Penn knows the order, jimmy cuts the cards. Penn sees 1 card and then he knows the next. Regardless of if they were shuffled ahead of time or not.
Oh and as for the shuffle, he didn't riffle it which means the order still never changed.

half, if not more, of Penn & Teller's brilliance is in the narrative of their tricks. The way the ideas are framed is just masterful.
In this case the staging is 95% of the performance. The trick itselve is very simple.
2:55 when he moves the cards from his right hand to the left. He looks at the card at the bottom. That card tells him everything.
Yeah you right, and penn did fake shuffle
The shuffle didnt change the order of the card
@@dearmansonharley5333 not just the order but also the number of cards in his hand.

@@rachaelb9952 thats why he weighted the cards in his hand and made him say that there are 27 cards there. so 28th card is in his pocket and the short guy knows what card it is. because the deck is set in a way in their mind.
Istav Rit ahhhhhh it all makes sense 😂😱
The cards are set up in a certain order at 2:56 Penn sees the bottom card. He now knows what card follows so he knows what card Jimmy cut to. He also knows how far down. He codes the card to the person sitting in Tellers humongous chair who sets up the 9 of hearts to be the card to come up. That assistant is the one who hands the big deck to Teller through a hole in the chair. Well that's my guess. You even hear Penn use the word Heart at 3:42.
It's not a deck where every other card is a 9 of hearts because he has Jimmy count the cards face up on the table and if every other card was a 9 of hearts Jimmy would notice that. But he wouldn't notice a set up order deck.
after he says heart, the rest of the sentence is also 9 words
If you count up the words after he says heart, it's 9 words, and after that he says 'just hold that right there", as if "stop".
Neat trick though.
Nope...
The first deck is all 9 of hearts.
When Jimmy takes the top card of the bottom cut and puts it in his pocket Penn swaps the top cut for 27 cards from a real deck without a 9 of hearts.
So.. Jimmy counts 27...
Teller only ever has to reveal a 9 of hearts.
Meanwhile Penn swaps the bottom cut for the rest of the real deck.
@@dougaltolan3017 Wrong.
@@Sebster85 🔔🔚
The cards are in a special order and Penn looks at the bottom card at 2:55. Once you know the bottom card, you know all about the picked card card, Teller also knows the number so he's ready to raise the correct card. Once Penn says there are 27 cards, the rest is trivial.
More likely that the back of the cards are marked. To mark a deck you just get a red marker & blot out one spot for each suit, another spot for each number or face & because this is going to be used for the trick they do another mark to number their cards. He then signals to teller the number & suit in code so it's not obvious, could be a hand gesture or some specific word/words he says.
Nope
More easy than that
Penn pulls out the deck wich has 27 cards above the 9 of harts, than penn shuffles but about 15 cards than pulls back above the 9 of harts if u look closely, the card above the 9 of hearts has a bending so that jimmy easily take that cut without thinking, than the trick is done teller did nothing
Here's how it works, the cards are stacked and with some maths, you can work out how many cards you're holding (check out scam school) Penn looks at the card when you changes hands and can work out what Jimmy's card is. I've seen this trick twice now and Penns patter changes meaning he's using code to tell the person hidden in the chair what Jimmy's card is and the person in the chair gets the card stock to the weighted pulldown. Notice teller isn't just standing like he normally does and that chair is very big and can easily hide someone. Also, teller isnt holding the cards the full time and theyre out of view for most of the trick.
Pemn and Teller are masters of great IDEAS in magic and entertainment..period.
2:57 penn glimpses the bottom card. This shows the entire deck has been stacked in a pre arranged order so that Penn knows the card and position in the deck. By glimpsing the bottom card, Penn knows the next card is 9 Hearts AND the prearranged system associates each card with a number equal to its position. Then it’s a communication or code system to transfer the two digits of the position to their assistant who is hiding in the big chair and loads the card into the big box. Note this is the ONLY card in the large box… bc the box is simply a mechanical widget to raise the card. This shows the incredible detail, skill, memory work, practice, and sheer gall P&T have gone to to create this illusion. Damn good.
when you know the trick, it makes the performance more hilarious and cool, that's the beauty of penn and teller. He claims that "he has to use this deck of cards" which is true because the deck is prepared. he claims that what he did was difficult, when it was incredibly simple. and he claims that magic is all lies, which he confirmed by lying about his role in the trick from the very beginning. love the meta humor than they use
I was waiting for Fallon to ask Penn if that was a real shuffle he was doing, and for Penn to answer "yes" as the first lie of the bit.
There’s no communication system, they literally get Jimmy to shout out how many cards he’s taken out 😂😂
@@T1J Wouldn't say it's that easy, you still have to remember the exact order of 52 cards. Or at least of the bits in the middle - and associate them with the number of cards that were cut then. Not as hard as he claims it to be, but i'm pretty sure if you gave 100 people 60 minutes to learn the trick, 90 would still fail it.

True. The trick itselve is very simple basic magiciansstuff. And Penn is actually telling you how its done. He does the work: and its not that hard and Teller does actually nothing. The banter is genious: because it makes you think theres a lot going on: there are big props: the chair, some juggling wich makes you think that its misdirection. While everything already happened when Jimmy picked the card.

Penn does NOT shuffle the cards. He just pretends to. They are ordered. After the cut he looks at the bottom card and immediately works out how many cards he has as indicated by the bottom card. He also knows what the next card is because the cards are all ordered. Teller doesn't know what it is and he NEVER knows what it is. After Penn announces that there will be 27 cards the assistant concealed under the chair then knows what card he must get ready for its grand appearance in Teller's hands. Penn asked Jimmy to cut to the middle or MORE because he needed to give the assistant time to arrange the big deck in readiness for the reveal. Jimmy's counting the cards to a number greater than 26 gives the assistant the time he needs. The large deck is, by this time ready to be extracted from the hole in the chair at his right side.
The order is Si Stebbins order. I would also assume Jimmy was instructed to cut near the middle so that it should only be 1/13 cards to prepare instead of 1/52.
Yep, at 2:56 you can see Penn taking a quick glance at the bottom card.
Strongside and the card he turns over looks like the 6 of clubs
Story and setup was so good that I forgot that he was answering a question.
2:30 penn does a fake shuffles for a few cards. 2:57 while he places the cards on left hand he quickly checks what card is on top with a quick flip thats the juggling. Knows the number since it was a prearranged deck. 3:12 tells the person inside the chair to place the 28th card (the card jimmy picked) to be placed in that magic card box. So Teller really does nothing besides secretly pulling it out from the couch and showing it to the audiance.
The brilliance of Penn and Teller's magic tricks is that you never care how they are done. They are more entertaining than they are magical.
But if you want to know how it's done... I believe it is a stacked deck. Jimmy cuts the cards. Penn sneaks a peak at the bottom card of his packet, which was directly above jimmy's card. That tells him what Jimmy's card is. Then I believe he secretly tells Teller which card it is. Another comment suggested that when he says "Remember in your heart" it was to communicate the suit to teller. I think there may be something going on with the hand gestures Penn does around 3:51. He actually does do the ASL sign for 9 many times, which may just be a natural hand gesture but it's hard to say. Then Teller just uses a big gimmick deck to rise the card.
In their masterclass, Penn actually said that when they come up with an idea for an effect, they pretend to perform it as if the magic is real and observe their own mannerisms to find out what they do naturally and what they can get away with. For instance, Penn naturally puts his hands in his pockets often and talks with his hands while Teller often keeps his arms down at his sides. So I can totally see Penn using his natural hand gestures to conceal a secret hand gesture.
If the deck is stacked and they know the order, Penn wouldn’t need to signal anything, as Teller would also know what the 28th card is.
@@caioreis279 oh good point. If they both know the order.
Late response but realise that after he says “remember in you heart,” he says a planned phrase that has exactly 9 words
@@ArBriann All misdirection. After he says "There are 27 cards" there's no code needed. Teller knows what the 28th card is. Also the 9 of hearts could be a force.
Want is the asl sign for nine ? Where did he do this?
If I were to do this trick, I'd memorize the deck's shuffle, false shuffle as Penn, read the bottom card at 2:55 , have Jimmy count the cards out to buy time, have a person hidden in Teller's chair put the correct card in the right spot then hand the big deck up to teller between the cushion, have teller move the correct card up, have the hidden person in chair set off confetti canon. Why do they need an entire platform for this chair? It'd be easier to just have the chair on the stage, and why does the chair need to have fabric all the way down? There's something hidden in there, and the addition of a riser suggests to me that it's a person.
This is it exactly. When you're used to seeing those gimmicks all of those things immediately flag what's going on. The robe on Teller is also a prop that helps cover the access hatch to retrieve the giant deck of cards. You watch how casually he pulls it out like it's coming straight through a slot in the chair, it's no on his person before he needs it.
Yup. The giant prop chair is kind of a give away once you start looking at it properly
It's crazy cause Teller isn't short, he's an average guy, standing at 5'9'' tall. Penn is just a huge man standing at 6'6'' tall.
If anyone can legitimately wear a Wizard's hat. ..its Teller.

Joke House I’m not being smug, I’m being snarky.
@@0554joe "They wouldn’t clap or laugh unless told to" they are not braindead, jesus.

Easy trick... Penn looked at the bottom card as he swapped hands, he knows the order of the cards, so he knows what card was taken. The guy under Tellers chair will hear 27 cards so he will also know the card taken, and puts the correct card into the giant pack for Teller, and hands it up through the chair to him.
No need to place card in giant pack, since Jimmy was told to cut it in half, there’s only about 10 or so cards that need to be in that large deck, and he just lifts the correct one up.
My favorite part is that it is very hard to tell how this trick was done as there are a TON of false leads.
Penn keeps his hands looking like there is a deck switch, did he false shuffle, he says things like “Keep in your Heart” while also flashing the number 10 then a 1, and while he’s talking to Jimmy, Teller keeps on looking at Penn’s left hand which keeps giving numbers, Teller’s turn then distracts the camera and Jimmy which could allow another deck switch when nobody is looking.
And because it’s Penn and Teller, we have no clue to know which ones of these were actually false flags to make you lose if you were in the Hot Seat for Penn and Teller fool us.
and of course, for all we know, they forced him to put the 9 of hearts in his pocket and gave him an illusion of choice
It's much, much simpler. The only signal is when he says "27."
@@reaganpratercallen60 oh it is 100% without question a force. That much is obvious, it's how the force works that is the question. I can think of obvious ones, but even if my guesses were miraculously right, it still takes a crazy amount of skill to cheat that well.
@@darthrex354 Its not a force. There is no surefire way to force a card that someone cuts to. There is a man inside the chair that puts whatever card jimmy has in his pocket into the big deck that will make that card rise up.
@@cardmysteries8176
There is a way to force it. Use a deck with all the cards the same and then switch decks. Notice that no one saw the cards till after Jimmy put the forced card in his pocket THEN Penn handled the cards. THEN the cards were seen.
Penn's shuffle at the beginning is a fake shuffle that doesn't really alter the position of the cards (or if it did, it would be just the few at the top). Thus, the deck order has not been altered. Penn has committed to memory the order of the cards and thus, after Jimmy's cut and placing the deck on his hand, he flips it over really quick to see the bottom card. This allows him to know exactly how many cards are in his hand and what is the card that Jimmy has placed in his pocket. Teller also knows the order so after Penn tells everyone its 27 cards, Teller knows exactly to pull the 9 of hearts out.
Alen Gong there is probably someone in the chair editing the giant deck of cards after hearing how many cards Penn had.

Great trick. Don't read on if you like being fooled.
As a master Card Mechanic, Penn knows where every card in the deck is. They appear to be random but are likely in some sort of pattern that makes it easier to memorize the deck order beforehand. Therefore, Jimmy has an absolutely free choice.
The first misdirection comes when Jimmy places the half-deck in Penn's hand. Penn flips the deck over quickly and glances down to see what card is showing. That tells him exactly which card has been removed. It also tells him how many cards he has in his hand. Teller uses that number to manipulate the correct card to come out of the large concealed deck.
The truth is, in this trick, both of them are using juggling to a certain extent, because Telller has to set up the large Deck with one hand.

No memory needed. The deck is probably arranged a certain way such that you can calculate the number of cards in your hand based on the card's value, and even works if you cut the deck multiple times. Scam School did a video on it a while back.
@@Mikowmer The order is Si Stebbins. You do need some memory. You have to either remember the 13 card sequence or how to derive the sequence.
@@strongside4565 You don't really need to know the sequence of Si Stebbins order. The formula is CHSD+3. Ace of Clubs, Four of Hearts, 7 of Spades, 10 of Diamonds, etc. Work with it long enough and one can easily go forward or backward to any card.
The back of the cards is marked with the number of each card. Once he says the number, the small person hidden inside Teller's chair inserts the correct card into the trick deck, then hands it to teller through the gap in the chair.
BUT THE DECK WAS SHUFFLED?
WAAAAAAAAAY to complicated. Actually the number is distraction tolead you away its even simpler !
@@priyansh1210 It was a controlled shuffle. This trick was done via deck memorization.
@@priyansh1210rewatch the shuffle some time. He only does seven moves, and he's probably only taking one card each time, then he gathers all the cards back up again. All he actually did was reverse the order of the first seven cards
And that's easy mode. A good card magician can "shuffle" a deck all day long, and still end up with every single card back where it started
There's someone inside the ridiculously large chair, which has a hole in it hidden by Teller's gown. The deck is pre stacked, the bottom card is not just glimpsed, but openly shown. The person in the chair also knows the order and what the 27th card is. They put the card in the box and teller pulls it out through the hole in the chair. There is no slight of hand.
Unless you count the bit where Penn flips the deck over so he can see the bottom card. You could _maybe_ call that slight of hand, in that it's something that he does that we aren't supposed to notice him doing
Penn truly is a magician. He sold an encyclopedia to Joey Tribbiani.
Gustavo Siqueira I was looking for this reference..
3:27 Penn takes a step forward when Jimmy says the number “nine”
3:43 Penn really makes sure to accentuate the word “heart” here
Idk it’s probably just a coincidence
that's a good point, possibly how he got it over to Teller, what card he drew 😳
You'll notice teller didn't start bopping around until that happens too, like doesn't have to pay attention.
Anyone else noticed that Jimmy was wearing “lifts” to make himself not that short compared to Penn.
Alyson Hannigan: let's see what they have to say about your performance!
Penn from Fool Us: We liked that routine very much, and we're going to see you guys a lot from now on probably. A lot of people just SHUFFLE around but they don't go anywhere. You don't need to FORCE anything right? You guys are that good. And what I think is that you guys are going to PEAK someday in the near future.
Alyson Hannigan: Hum... does that mean anything to you guys?
Peen from Jimmy Fallon: Yes, I believe they know how the trick was done
Alyson Hannigan: Aaaaaw =(
I love Penn and Teller so much. So glad they have been immortalised in borderlands as Pain and Terror honestly was such an amazing surprise when I played the game.
Teller: *breaths*
Jimmy Fallon: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
3:14 Jimmy Fallen has an actual band sitting there and he just chose to count. A band's job is making counting interesting.
Fallon made the counting worse than it actually is
Okay, the way I think the trick works:
- Penn shuffles the very top of the deck a bit. Top ten cards I reckon. This is telling a lot. After that the rest of the deck get put on the bottom, so the bottom part remains exactly the same.
- Jimmy gets a random number of cards (more than half). This is truly random!
- Penn looks at the top card of the remaining deck which I'm guessing is marked on the top to figure out the amount of cards he is holding.
- Teller hears the number and figures out was card that is. (You can order a deck in such a way that it looks random but in fact isn't.)
- Teller gets the deck from his right jacket. I'm guessing he has some big decks in his right jacket, some big decks in his left jacket.
What was that sound at 2:22 when he pulled the cards out of the deck 😂
Lmao wtf
This is one of the most amazing performances I’ve seen!! Great indeed, very fantastic!
My eyesight is bad and I didn't have my specs on so I Actually thought that was the queen of England sitting on the chair in the thumbnail lol 🤣🤣
Woke...?
Go to sleep
@Logic Sucks ur a fuckin wacko
So you have bad eyesight, but you watch a video without having your specs on. Hmm, I smell bullshit...
Why would you think that? You know the Queen only does street magic, like that time someone unloaded a gun at her in a parade, she looked at him and carried on her way without batting an eyelash or getting hit with a single bullet.
Some of the above mat not be true... Some of it is 100% true, although worded carefully. Marcus Sarjaent being a name of merit here...Margaret Thatcher at the kill House another example of the stiff upper lip on display....less magic related though.
Lovely stuff! Big smiles all round!
Penn is so humble, perfect example of a true Newfoundlander
This trick is super easy. Marked cards.. 2:53 Penn can see which card it is and relay's the card to Teller in code (either by a combination of words and/or hand movements. You can see Penn sticking his fingers out in different ways just after Jimmy pockets the card..
It wasn't marked cards. That would defeat the purpose of knowing that there was 27 cards to the top. That was the thing used to know which card was in Jimmy's pocket. And that information was not passed to Teller. It was for someone that was blind to what he was doing with his hands.
@@Alkis05 it was marked cards.
@@joeg4580 No it wasn't. You missed how he flipped the deck and saw the bottom card. 2:55
How did he knew jimmy cut the deck at exactly 27th card? He knew because he had the deck order. When he looked the bottom card, he knew what card was bellow it, namely, jimmy's card.
There is no need for secret codes and marked cards, because he had to memorize the order of the deck. One should choose the simplest explanation that can account for all the facts. Marked deck and secret codes are unnecessary assumptions and alone don't account for how he knew where the deck was cut.
He could also have a deck full of 9 of hearts and switched it before showing jimmy that the deck was full of different cards. But like your guess, that would not account for knowing where the deck was cut.
Stacked deck, doesn’t shuffle, peeks the next card at 2:56, moves his hand up and down 9 times (or 8?) at 3:03 then says “remember in your heart” at 3:43.
This is what they do to mislead you. It was the queen of heart way before they beginn. He forced it on Jimmy. Thats why he wants him to take about half of the cards. To prevent him from taking just one or all but one. That is all I am going to point out here.
Carmen I don’t think that it was forced, how do you know??
Not a force
@@ApsaraMenaka It might not be exactly what I said, but it's something like that. It's not a force though. He can't do a force when he lets Jimmy cut it wherever Jimmy wants, with Jimmy's own hands. It's a stacked deck for sure. That's why there's no shuffle before Jimmy does the cut.
2:24 and 2:32 all the cards are 9 hearts
That's the 8 of hearts.
Penn “shuffled” the cards himself. It means he knows the order of the cards. He then insisted on Jimmy cutting the deck in the middle. Penn looks at the bottom card so he knows the number of cards in his hand, it also reveals the card to Teller. Pretty simple trick.
I'm kind of disappointed that I wasn't able to figure that out myself. I knew the shuffle was a fake, but I somehow missed him looking at the bottom card.
I'm sure this answer is easy too, but how does Teller make sure that the correct card is on the rising mechanism? I'm guessing it has to do with Penn saying the number and Teller priming it while Jimmy's counting.
@@trickytreyperfected1482 Based on where he pulled it out from it was under the couch which can hide numerous decks and since Penn specifically said to get as close to the middle of the deck as possible it seems like he wanted to limit the possible choices. That deck of cards is so massive so I wouldn't be surprised if it were actually a printer or it could push out several different cards based on some type of user input.
Card were in stack coz penn noticed the cut card while flipping around 3minute then at 3:15 he said it's 27 cards
Yea unfortunately they don’t show the card he saw on camera...it’s possible that it was in si stebbins or something Penn and teller created
...that's not the point of the trick. And if you follow Penn and Teller and know ANYTHING about magic you know it was not Si Stebbins.
CHSeD
@@ericbailey7697 Penn doesn't use the Si Stebbins stack...the routine makes it obvious that he is not using it... You guessed wrong. It's not cool to guess methods on UA-cam anyways. the real trick is to get you applauding for lying cheating and swindeling, its hahahilarious
Penn was lying from the start, he couldn't tell by the weight of the cards how many there were. He forced the 9 of hearts and he knew before hand that there were 27 cards.
@@fireblade2681 but how??? Jimmy was the one who cut it.
Net Lag he memorized the order of the cards, so he knew how much more were left
wish teller would talk more, seems like a very profound human who is very deeply touched by the art of magic.
He talks plenty in interviews, he just doesn't talk during the act. He says he's found it makes him seem more magical, or more enigmatic, and it really gets an audience's attention and respect
Seems like it worked for you. I suspect that the silent act is the reason _why_ you feel like he's so profound
I clapped for Teller without a moment’s hesitation.
What he said was 100% honest, the trick was all skill. by telling him there were 27 cards, Teller knew exactly which card it was because the deck was never shuffled. Teller didn't have to do anything but put in the number 27 on his magic box thing.
Figured the trick. Minute 2:56 will give you the answer as to how he did it that's all I'll say
Tell us what it is?
When he flips the cards in his hands?
@@krylesangerbeaver Yup.
After jimmy cuts in half and hands penn the cards, a second later you see penn switch the cards to his left while doing that he looks at the bottom card (the deck of cards are already prepared he knows where all the cards are positioned) he now knows which card is on top from the other half on the table and forces jimmy to pick it. And of course teller is in on it and sees also the bottom card when penn tells jimmy to start counting face up.
I'm not an expert tho just saying my view and maybe they did it differently
Im not sure if this is how pen and teller did it, but a way for this trick to work would be to use the mnemonica stack technique. The trick starts off with a seemingly "shuffled" deck of cards that Penn has memorized. (He then did a false shuffle that he made look real by the terrible shuffling). Then by seeing the bottom card at 2:56 he can use the mnemonica stack to remember what the next card would be. Since he told Jimmy to cut roughly in the middle of the deck, teller only really needed to have a few cards on standby and once he heard Penn say out the number 27 he also immediately knew which card it was.
Wonderful act! Thanks!
But the BIG "event" was Penn's new hairstyle!
Absolutely looks great! It's a keeper! Appreciate it! Thanks!
When storytelling is actually doing magic! Well done Penn and Teller
This trick is actually pretty simple. The cards were ordered in a way that would allow Penn to determine how many cards were in the deck Jimmy cut. If you look at 2:56 you can see Penn peek at the last card, and from that, he did the math in his head to know how many cards there were. Teller did the same, except backwards. Knowing that there are 27 cards in the deck, you can go backwards to determine what the 28th card is, and he simply made that card appear with his large deck. The trick wouldn't work if the deck were shuffled first. Nice one, Penn and Teller! But you didn't fool me.
Jeb Bush: please clap
Penn: *DO NOT APPLAUD*
Jimmy is so cute!! “Let them applaud” “oh i got that”
“Remember in your heart”, *holds up 9 fingers.*
When did he hold up 9 fingers? I didn't catch that
He held up 6 fingers tho. At approx 3:40
Don't think so. If this were the jack of spades, how would he have communicated this?
He stood still till jimmy got to the number 9 then moved forwards and started moving backwards and forwards to make it look natural - then ‘remember in your heart’
It could be anything, I agree with the heart thing, but it was six fingers. He moved the cards up and down 7 times I think. I'm going to watch until I find that 9 clue.
2:55 he looks at the card above it
6:12 and I thought he was gonna say "And that is why Trump is president."

I absolutely love these guys!
Every time a late night audience is told not to applaud, something good happens to some person from a place. There is altogether _way_ too much whooping, screaming and general mania among these crowds.

To be honest i felt like the applause for penn was more than for teller lol, but i understand what they did try with that performance so great anyways :)
Can;t wait to see the updated VR version of the Desert Bus. :)
Wow thanks penn and teller im going to rob my friend now with my vr set 😂
It was nice of Jimmy to come to Penn and Teller's show
lol whoever did subtitles "Sony Playstation, Oculus, Vibe."
My guess is:
Marked cards, Penn clearly sees that Jimmy chooses the 9 of hearts.
Penn uses coded language to let Teller and the third person know that it is the 9 of hearts.
The third person, hidden under the needlessly large and elaborate chair, then pushes a metal prop card 9 of hearts into the prop deck and feeds it up from under the seat, and Teller uses a fake rose with a neodymium magnet to pull up the only magnetic card in the whole deck. After which Jimmy reveals the card that they have all known was in his pocket the entire time.
And the best thing is Penn gives it all away at the beginning. The only real thing you see is the Juggling, which is all hard work... and then it is followed with "lying, cheating, swindling and stealing."
These guys are brilliant! Especially if I am **way** off in my guess.
Anyone else have any guesses?
Kev Benoit i think your method would work.
The only modification I’d make is that there’s no need for coded language. Penn (and the chair dude) have memorised the order of the deck, so that when Penn sees the markings on the marked card, he knows where it lies in the deck, and can therefore make his call of ‘27 cards’. The dude in the chair also knows this, and prepares the deck for Teller.
The way you can tell your off is because your version is needlessly complicated. They forced the 9 of hearts. The rest of the trick plays itself after you've done that. Maybe the deck is marked to tell him which card was taken. Whenever a theory starts using 'neodymium magnets' you know you've gone way off track.
@@arandombard1197 watch Penn's Vanity Fair interview - they don't do forced card tricks like this (except when it's the 3 of clubs, which is their giveaway).
i don't think the method combining Kev and my idea is complicated at all. it just requires a marked deck, and a guy inside the chair. and it's reliable every time
@@arandombard1197except we can see Penn turn the cards over in a really quick move that the audience isn't supposed to notice. Looks a lot like he's getting a look at the bottom card. And Teller waits until after the number is announced before pulling the box out of the suspiciously large prop chair (and seemingly pulling it from inside the cushion)
None of that would have been necessary if they'd used a force. (Honestly, I don't know _why_ they didn't use a force. It would have been easier. But it doesn't look to me like they did)
Penn looks younger! love ya Jimmy , from new Zealand
Well, he is younger than Teller by at least five years, maybe seven or so.
Penns is a genius because at the end of the show he says a line that is ''That is why Jimmy I left juggling and became a magician''
Now this can mean in two different ways
One : The people cheered for Penn then he said that if you are going applaud for teller then you would be encouraging theft, deceit and all that stuff. They still applauded for teller that means magicians has the support of the audience
Second: If the people didn't applaud then that line means that he has a moral loving audience and he has their support
