I got to meet Penn and Teller after on of their shows. Teller was the sweetest, most polite gentleman I’ve ever met. I told him that I went to their show as a celebration for completing cancer treatment. Teller then told me that he was a cancer survivor too. As I walked away he said “Keep fighting kiddo!” That was the happiest moment of my life.

I LOVE teller's shtick, like, its genius... HOWEVER, over the years, having only heard him talk a few times, I'm always saddened, because he has such an amazing, soothing, clear, beautiful voice with such a nice tambre, such a matter-of-fact, yet, welcoming delivery, and an accent that is welcoming to any english speaker... While I'm thankful that his silent act helped him garner fame, it is bittersweet because I absolutely love his voice, when he talks its so clean and calming and equally engaging.... I'd love to see him do audio books or character voice overs or something (if he hasn't already under a different name).... I just love his voice. He could have a talk show or podcast and people would tune in by the billions. Now, contrast his voice with penn's loud, raspy, excitable, also matter-of-fact, to the point voice, and they sound great together... So I love how they did what they did, but it is bitter sweet. The most interesting part about these two is how well they compliment each other, not just with speaking voices, but with their general personality, demeanor, and stage presence. And I LOVE how teller is loud and raspy, commands attention and respect, is to the point, and matter of fact, and how teller's voice is calming, soothing, yet equally powerful, commands the same respect, is equally matter-of-fact, and commands the same level of attention. Its amazing how complimentary these opposites are.

When I was lucky enough to see penn and teller in Vegas (and even do a trick on stage with them!) many don’t realize that they often stay in the lobby to meet guests afterwards. Penn seemed a bit tired and hey I don’t blame him it was a Tuesday during the holidays. He gave a quiet thanks and was modest enough for a selfie. Teller had a smaller crowd and spotted me as a I walked up. He thanked me for volunteering and was so genuine and warm and kind. Hearing him speak felt like all of us were on the “in” of a secret club or something. One of the best nights of my life and some of the best entertainers and just people working today.

I just want you to know that i'm neither angry at you nor do i judge you for the comment. Sometimes life is that shit we can almost taste it and we lash out in order so vent some of the frustration going on. It's okay. Really.
I know this is not you. Noone is that pathetic that they have to go out of their way to write hateful comments every chance they get.
But please keep in mind that my goal was to give people a passing smile with an easy joke. To implant the image of Teller just sitting there with that bright childlike wonder of his. According to the other 112 people i succeeded. Nobody really expected that. It's just a way to make people feel more involved and appreciated than a "Wouldn't it be funny..." would have.
The fact that such an easy joke went above your head is another clear indicator that you have a lot to deal with right now. So i really do hope going get's better for you soon.

Magicians have this innate understanding of how human perception works, from years of manipulating it. Some scientists have actually been studying magic techniques to understand how our brains pay attention to things, and Teller has been part of that.

Now I realize, that not only can he talk, he has a very pleasant voice and chooses not to talk in the act and it was his choice! I thought it was Penn’s idea. We saw Penn & Teller's Vegas show 20 years ago and they allowed the audience to come on stage and inspect the props before the show. As a blind person my wife was thrilled and we went up on the stage with her guide dog and inspected everything. She really enjoyed the show with her additional understanding of what they were using on stage. After the show they were greeting fans outside and we went through the line to shake hands and got them to sign my program. Teller said "That was really cool, we have never had a service dog inspect the props before. Thank you for coming, I hope you enjoyed the show." As we were walking away my wife asked, of course, "Who was that?"
