    When we can our tomatoes we add diced onions and peppers (all grown from the garden). When preserving garlic I like to crush them and put them in frozen "pucks" in the freezer. Then we store them in the freezer baggies. A little tip on cleaning the oven racks. Spray them with ZEP oven cleaner and stick them in a garbage bag. I put them out on the deck for a few hours while cleaning the oven. Then, just have to wipe them off with a paper towel.

    I actually just made 2-16 quart pots of chili and last summer I was able to get an entire case of each Organic tomato paste and also Organic tomato chunks from the BDO here in Utah which is a donated overflow for cheap, which I used almost all of it in the chili. I went through my canned foods and added my homemade 1-3/4 can of cowboy candy brine, 1 can of cowboy candy, and 1 small can of chipotle peppers in adobo sauce. Then, from my freezer, I added 2-1/2 gallons of homemade chicken broth and 1-1/2 gallon bag of frozen mushrooms. I also added a large amount of fresh but frozen and then dehydrated hot New Mexico chili's. I can honestly say it is some of the best chili I have ever made, which I freeze since I don't have a pressure cooker. It was spicy, delicious, filling, and chunky with a ton of warm liquid, so it was not too heavy. :)

    If you store your empty jars upside down in the box they will be better protected from any dust going in. My dad is a beekeeper and this is what he does 😇

    Love these types of vlogs! I’ve been warned not to use the self cleaning cycle on the oven as it often causes house fires so I stick to scrubbing now 😅

      Yes, we actually just dealt with this issue with a few ovens in my housing cooperative. Apparently it's more of a risk if there is a lot of grease/oil build up according to the fireman. He strongly discourages the self clean function.

    • @PaigeWeso
      @PaigeWeso 5 днів тому +1

      I already don’t use it because it melted the controls on an oven I used to have after many previous successful attempts.
      And my local fire department also recommended against using the self cleaning function.

      Also the fumes are really bad for birds, so I think it can't be healthy for other animals either,or for humans.

    I also have been in the cleaning/decluttering mode recently. But I also have a four month old at home, so mostly I just keep cleaning the same bottles over and over, haha. Slowly getting some seeds started, and trying some winter sowing for the first time, so we'll see how that goes!
