    Here are all of the questions I asked you in the video (pick one, all, or none):

    What’d you think of the video!? Do you like this in-depth all-in-one style, or would you prefer each method as a separate video and put into a playlist?

    If the business class price was good enough, would you tolerate a two stop layover in two different countries or are you a 1-layover max person?

    Do you need more detail on how to find award space on Alaska Airlines?

    How would you feel about 24hrs worth of flight time in business class: Excited or Hesitant?

    Thank you for watching! I’m open for any requests and questions.

      1 great vid.
      2 all in one, the way you are currently doing it
      3 if the award was good enough, I'd hit a 2 stop
      4 no Alaska partners yet but I bet I'll want to know at some point because it seems like a great rate for Cathay flights.
      5 business class for a long flight is not an issue since I've done them in economy and survived 😅

    Congrats you have over 1K subscribers. 24 hours is a piece of cake. My trip back from Nepal went from Kathmandu to Bangkok, Bangkok to London and London to Houston, followed by a flight from Houston to Lubbock TX. It took over 48 hours from the Kathmandu hotel to my home in Lubbock. I did 3 lounges on the way and had 2 showers that made it a little more tolerable I used 50K united miles and $94 for that trip. I used Flying blue for my flight from Houston to Chennai India for 35K points and about $140 on my way to south Asia. I paid cash to save my points for flights from India to Sri Lanks, Sri Lanka to Nepal and two domestic flights in Nepal. They cost a total of about $600 and I could have used my Capital one points to pay for them but I decided to hang on to my points. I'm saving my points because for me long haul flights seem to be the best use of my points.

      Thank you, I was stoked when it happened this past weekend, and that sounds like an awesome trip and a great redemption!
      How long did you spend there total?

    • @Lazegoose55
      @Lazegoose55 4 місяці тому

      My total trip was a month great trip and rooms in these countries can easily be had for $30 a night most of mine were around $20 with breakfast. My next trip I'm thinking Thailand, Cambodia, Laos. Bali is not high on my list, I hear it is way to crowded for my liking. I actually met a guy from Bhutan in Nepal. It was interesting to pick his brain about Bhutan. I think he said there are less than 800,000 people from Bhutan.

      @@Lazegoose55 Oh wow, that's awesome. Do you typically do these trips solo?
      And that's fair about Bali, I'm definitely bracing myself for a touristic atmosphere. Currently, I think my fiance and I are kind of in a "greatest hits" phase since we're still young in our travel experiences. But I'm looking forward to getting into our off-the-beaten-path phase as we see more and gain more confidence traveling abroad.

    Im a new subscriber and was referred by a friend and I have to say your breakdowns are fantastic! So glad i found your space. Any advice for thailand? Im 12 months out from that trip and am about to start searching. Loads of chase and cap one points to spend. Thanks!

      @NurseMichaelTravels  4 місяці тому

      Welcome to the channel and thank you for the compliments! I haven’t had the opportunity to search for Thailand award flights yet, but I would suspect a lot of these strategies in this video to get to Bali will apply. Just switch out DPS for BKK. I’ll have to get back to you! (And possibly make a video)

    • @nikola25spasic
      @nikola25spasic 4 місяці тому

      @NurseMichaelTravels ya im definitely going to utilize some of the methodogies I've noticed here. There is a weird space with thailand since it is equidistant from the eastern and western seaboard, (when you are centered in the U.S. both are in consideration like flying to lax or nyc) I have been starting research routing from the western U.S. but have also done some research routing from new York airports. It ends up being completely different airlines coming the other direction. I'm highly considering flying out of NYC so I can nab a stopover in Jordan to see the ancient city of Petra, then fly the other direction on the way back with a stopover in China to check the great wall off the list (I'm trying to finish the 7 wonders and just have those 2 and the colliseum). Learning a bunch from you already though. Thank you so much

    Thanks for all the great advice & tips. What advice and/or experience will you sharing about buying travel insurance for Evacuation, Medical, etc.? (NOT the option offered when purchasing flights.)

    • @NurseMichaelTravels
      @NurseMichaelTravels  3 місяці тому

      Thank you for the Super Thanks! Admittedly I don't have a lot of experience with travel insurance. Of the trips I've taken (most within the US and Mexico/Costa Rica) I only purchased travel insurance for my trip to Alaska due to the amount of money we spent. I've been bad about purchasing it before with other big trips (like my Italy trip) due to the mentality that oh I didn't spend much money on this trip all said and done. But that's of course a bad mindset to have because of the medical/evacuation costs you've mentioned.
      I purchased a policy with Allianz when I went to Alaska, and we ended up missing an excursion due to flight delays and it was such a hassle to get anything out of them, it might have been partially due to the policy I ended up getting, and because I wasn't prepared for getting all of the documentation they request like the reason for the flight cancellation, etc. Plus it was around COVID times, so honestly I never did get anything, and I just kind of dropped it. But don't plan on using them in the future due to that experience.
      I have been hearing more about annual travel insurance policies which sounds like a good option if you take a few trips per year, but I haven't looked into the details about that yet. Buying travel insurance for my own trip to Bali is still sitting on my to-do list. I'll try to update you once I do settle on a plan!

    Hey Michael great video! Quick question what does "tiered bonus" mean for the capital one bonus on etihad

    • @NurseMichaelTravels
      @NurseMichaelTravels  4 місяці тому

      Thank you! Yes, the tiered bonus with Etihad means the more points you transfer, the more points they'll give you as described below and on their website linked below as well. This transfer bonus is given from Etihad so it's on their terms which says the bonus may will hit your account within 15 days of of 3/31/24 (not instant, and irreversible).
      Transfers of 1,000 to 10,000 points get a 20% bonus
      Transferring 10,001 to 50,000 points gets you a 30% bonus
      Transferring 50,001 points or more gets you a 40% bonus

      @@NurseMichaelTravels 40% increase is wild. Wondering how does the 15 days will affect the availability space?

    • @NurseMichaelTravels
      @NurseMichaelTravels  4 місяці тому

      @@Picklerickyi yeah this is an interesting one. Generally wouldn’t recommend transferring without having a redemption in mind or without knowing there’s availability. I guess for this one, if you know how to find the availability you want, and you’re flexible enough to go whenever you do find it then maybe go for it.

    If I were to book thru Cathay Pacific, is it possible to use avios transferred thru BA-FinnAir-Cathay Pacific? I've not worked with avios yet. Thank you.

    • @NurseMichaelTravels
      @NurseMichaelTravels  17 днів тому

      Hi Teri, so Cathay Pacific does not use the Avios currency.
      Only British Airways, FinnAir, Iberia, Qatar, and Aer Lingus use the Avios currency. So you wouldn't be able to transfer Avios from one of those airlines TO Cathay Pacific, and you would Not be able to transfer miles from Cathay Pacific over to an Avios airline.
      You MIGHT be able to book a Cathay Pacific flight using one of the Avios airlines IF there's award availability on the avios-airline's website.
