- John Legend at North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam, playing an amazing cover version of Simon & Garfunkel's "Bridge over troubled water". I was in the audience and it was magical.

I cannot imagine losing someone so loved and so special- a husband, sister, GOD FORBID a niece or nephew.. mother- I can't imagine not having her. I've only ever lost my grandparents and it was beyond devastating, but as sick as she was I was grateful to have had her in my life for 14 years! 26 years, having a child, sharing a life together is absolutely amazing. & obviously, you had a wonderful time. I'm so sorry you've had to grieve the loss of someone whom you loved so dear! I pray time HAS helped to ease the emptiness, and some of the sadness also. Your comment so beautifully touched my heart! I’ve loved this song my whole life. But I found myself listening to it often, seemingly constantly when I lost my sister. Some are luckier than others, but we’ll all eventually experience a loss we don’t expect, or maybe even one that we do. This song somehow helped me. And I hope it does you and others.

I lost my baby brother when he was only 17, we played the original version of this wonderful song which was one of his favourites at his funeral. For 30 years I could not listen to this song, now I can once again and this time with happy memories. God rest your beautiful soul my brother Simon, I know you are up there waiting to open the gates of heaven for me when my time comes and then we will meet again. I love you more today than I ever did. And thank you John Legend for such a beautiful way for me to reconnect with my brother once again.

If Josh Groban, Elvis, Simon and Garfunkel, or Aretha Franklin sang the same song and the audience reacted the way they did to John's version, I would still think it was soulful.

He is superb!! But sometimes I don't think people understand why he is so good. He has beautiful tall vowels or nicely rounded ones when needed. He doesn't hang out on the consenants like so many pop singers do. He makes vowels king. So it's pure and beautiful and able to be understood words wise. I watch his face stretch in all the appropriate manners like every choir instructor I have ever had tell me to do. My 90 year old client likes the sound of his voice (Classic crooner meets R%B) but appreciates that he can understand all of John's words. He is perfection. But more than that he is angelic. May his career be long lived!!!

You both have essentially made me remember the impact this song first had on me as a kid. I think I got so caught up with the new version that touched my soul that I sort of forgot about Simon and Garfunkel and that is so tragic so thank you so much for making me remember.

It was at Slims on 11th St. He said, "a lot of ya'll don't know who I am, do you?"
Then he started singing short versions of all these really popular songs, and the crowd started singing along and cheering and then he said, "yeah, I wrote all of them!"

I could not hold back my tears in 2016 when a lady started singing this song in the church where I was. It came upon me like a balsam which made stronger to carry on no matter what I was going through.
