I thought she was about to erect a 16 x 20 wall tent the way she was shopping for spots. When I saw the actual tent I had a good chuckle. Still, all these points hold true regardless of the size of your tent. Great video, great advice.

Very helpful video. I'm going camping this weekend for the first time in 16 years! Also alone so I'll definitely be using your tips 🙌🏻

Excellent advice. First time I pitched my tent I learned the hard way. Nice clear night. Then in the middle of the night it poured! The winds drove the rain crazy as I was at the bottom of a hill! My entry was facing the wind so as soon as I started to unzip it, water inside! Your video is spot on!

We always expect a day or night of rain so a properly planned location for your tent and pop up kitchen tent is key. We've had to dig drainage for tent islands during a flash rain storm before.

The sun and shade comment is so true! There’s nothing worse than cooking breakfast over the fire and having the sun beating down on your back! Thanks so much for mentioning that…

Excellent video! My hubby has taught me all these tips over the years and we have a system down now that helps up assess a campsite pretty quickly. Thanks again for your effort in producing these videos!

All excellent points! It is critical, especially in the backcountry, to be conscientious about where you're setting up.

Hey Amanda! Ive watched almost all of your vids.. literally. I would love to see more cooking vids, i love to cook and i love camping. I find it relaxing to cook in a campsite... and honestly just as soothing to watch you cook in yours. If you are ever on vancouver island let me know 😁 (canada-BEAUTIFUL)

I went to Vancouver years ago and loved it! It's so beautiful there and the climate is so different from what I'm used to living in Utah. I definitely want to go back someday. Cooking at camp is so relaxing for me too. I'll continue to make more camp cooking videos, they're my favorite 😊

Enjoying your videos and am thinking about cast iron. Con you do a video on how you take care of your cast while camping ? Curing etc.

great video, but, shouldn't #1 be Get there early enough to look around, find water, toilet site, etc. decide, build camp BEFORE it gets dark.... I hope you have an awesome summer, I'm out of the game for a bit due to all this flooding/high water and I broke a rib the other night... if the rivers ever go down, I'll get out and do some fishing....

All good comments, I myself have to add one look at the people in the campsites close to you… I had a camp experience ruined, because a bunch of drunks had too much to drink, and start picking fights with everybody in the Area. Likewise, they tend to be noisy. It saddens me being a very peaceful person that I now have to pack a firearm not for the four-legged variety of animal, but in defense of the two legged ones. Police response time is very slow added to that if your cell phone doesn’t get a signal then you’re on your own. It should be noted you have to be smarter. than your firearm. Don’t look for trouble because you have a SideArm with you. It’s your last resort against life and limb only! My rule of thumb is I try to get away from everybody who might be camping it gives them privacy and you also. Check the laws for carrying firearms and keep it hidden.
