I've found out about the show this year and I just sit for days watching EVERY episode since this is so good! Now I have quite the cable TV backlog -_- !!!
One of my 2016 highlights was meeting and chatting with Nikki and Lincoln in the BGG Hot Game Room during Gen-Con. The two of them are wonderful ambassadors for our hobby.
You guys are responsible for my purchasing: Machi Koro, Karuba, Hare and the Tortoise, Pandemic the Cure, Airlines Europe, Splendor, Between Two Cities and Fabled Fruit! (I'm sure I've missed a few too) Great job you guys! Keep up the good work!
Hi there! We wanted to let you folks know just how fantastic your videos are! Looking forward to more content in the new year. As we begin to grow our channel we are truly inspired by your thoughtful reflections, clear explanations, and genuine appreciation for the art and science of board games. Thanks for what you do, and all the best in 2017! Cheers!
I wanted to thank you guys for turning me on to Linko and Port Royal this year. I just played Linko with my family four times in a row, and I got something new out of each play. I never knew that there was this whole world of clever small box card games. Looking forward to more episodes in the future.
I very much enjoy your group. Games are always well explained, and if it is my type, there's always the runthroughs to help you catch the feeling of the game... Afterwards, your comments always make sense... Happy new year and thank you for your shows !
Hey, Lincoln. I talked to you briefly in the Hyatt checkout line at BGGcon. I mentioned playing Terraforming Mars and not getting to play Great Western Trail, but the one thing I didn't have time to mention was my very first play of Broom Service. I'd watched your playthrough, but still wasn't too interested. We grabbed a copy at BGG and we had a blast. It's one of those games that isn't too compelling until you're sitting there making those tough decisions for yourself.
Agreed, What a fun game! Sometimes we aren't able to communicate how much fun a game is with our videos, but we try. Thanks for the note and for chatting at BGG Con.
One thing that's rough with the board gaming hobby is that probably 80% of the biggest games come out in the last 4 months. Due to that clumping of great games you really won't know how good the year was until maybe a year or two later because that's how long it takes to get around to trying most of the well received games. I'm just now getting to a place where I feel like I can make a solid top 10 for 2015.
Happy New Year guys and thanks for all the GameNight! goodness this year. For me, Leo goes to the Barber was the most memorable episode and my favourite game this year has been Nine Worlds released at Essen.
Thank you, this was very good. I think my most anticipated games of 2017 are Dungeon Crusade, The god's War, Mythic Battles and Kingdom Death. I am very excited
I also wonder if Kramer and Kiesling's Nauticus would be a good fit for a Game Night - streamlined, easy to see on the board, not too heavy (for Dave).
Can you add the title of the game on the bottom of the screen when you're discussing that game? It would really help me know what game you're talking about.
Lance, I will try to get them added at some point but in the meantime here is a BoardGameGeek post from a viewer that lists them for us: www.boardgamegeek.com/article/24620111#24620111
Fun episode! I am surprised that there was no mention of Terraforming Mars, though, since it was my favorite for the year by a considerable margin, and it seems to be generally well received among gamers. I am curious whether you guys aren't fans of the game, or if you just have not played it yet. At any rate, keep up the great work in the next season!
Nikki!!!! Can you show us somewhere the Captive novel, that sounds awesome! I'm always looking for new graphic novels and this one seems to tap into my gamer soul too. PS I found a cool Ryan North Romeo and or Juliet book you might like which is choose your own adventure.
I think the whole thing Dave has been talking about with not really wanting to play many games over and over, or the fact that a lot of games go under the radar just simply has to do with how many games have come out over the last 5 years....we are being blasted over the head with the sheer number of great games that have come out the last 5 years it's just hard to keep up and as soon as new ones come out people move on to those instead of going back to last years games, etc....it's a shame really. This would never happen but it would be cool if only like 50 games came out a year or the fact that new releases only come out every other year...that way it would give you much longer with the new games to play them all and to play them more times before the next group of new releases came out. I guess it's a good problem to have but so many good games either just get missed or played once and you move on to the new thing....
Any chance you guys can play an "Overlord" type of 1 vs all game? Like Conan, The Others or Descent? There aren't any well done playthroughs for those anywhere!
I have to agree that Leo Goes to barber was the best episode of the season for me, both as a group and as fun for the viewers. I think it was one shared-fun (fun to watch and play) episode! :D Also, I loved the full 24 hour stream, and all the interactivity you all provided during it. Keep up the great work in the new 2017, Happy holidays, and be healthier and happier and merrier in the new 2017! :D Much love to Gamenight! and every one of you. Also, THANK YOU! Thank you Dave for teaching me how to be a game teacher myself and all the jokes :D, thanks to Nikki for being the nicest person in Gamenight!, thanks to Aaron for being the best in picking on everyone in a most positive way - giving this show a different joyful feel, and spirit, Thanks to Linc (the coolest pun-guy I've seen :D ) and Aldie for the production of this best board game show, and thanks to Rusty for being a great clean soul of the show. - Kiprijanovski (from my "gaming" account :D ) Cheers :D
Happy New Year to everyone!! Great show, I have watched 5 or 6 already. I can't find in the description if the episodes are air live or recorded and then loaded here.

Hey guys! Thanks for putting out great content and informational game play. It's super helpful for people like me who learn by watching. Keep up the great work. Are you guys selling those shirts?
"If we do this again next year..." ...Why wait a year? I would love to see these quarterly. I really enjoy these episodes: people talking passionately about the things that they love. It's awesome. (i know, I know: the answer is "because we don't have time." Sigh. ...Being adult has its downsides.)
41:14 you start talking about a game by Bruno Cathala tentatively called Colony. I've been checking his BGG page ( boardgamegeek.com/boardgamedesigner/1727/bruno-cathala ) every few weeks since this video came out, but there has been no mention of it there, or anywhere that I can find. Do you have more information somewhere?
It surprises me that Dave hadn´t heard of Signorie. The publisher What´s your game, has done a lot of good stuff: Vasco Da Gama, Madeira, Oddville, Vinhos etc. Maybe euros is not his thing?
Maybe I didn't say this right: what surprises me is that no one talks about this game... and no one locally ever brings it out (assuming they even own it). And when I mention it - like I did here :) - like 90% of people say, "Huh? Never heard of it."
I think Food Chain Magnate would be doable for Game Night. Even though the cards require a lot of space they can be, for the most part, off to the side. The actual board and player space don't require a lot of room. Kinda Fresh Fish-ish in terms of what the players are trying to do.
Hey Lincoln, this is probably an annoying "ask," but it would improve the video if the name of the game being discussed were shown at the bottom. The name usually only gets mentioned once for a long conversation, and if you miss it, you can get really lost. (Thanks/sorry.) ;)
Mystic Vale was my biggest dissapointing of the year, sorry Nicky. It was way to random in drawing cards and cards coming out to buy. Rich getting richer type off game. Edit @ Nikki Captive and Knights are basic the same mechanical but different in drawing style and theme. I own them both and i's a fun system and interesting. I have heared they already have more then 10 off thoses books but they are all in frensh.

I think Ponzi Scheme is originally a Taiwanese designer :)
Scott, most likely since Homosapiens Lab is from Taiwan. I only knew it was not Japanese ;). Thanks for the note and it's great to hear from you.

Love watching your videos. Is that background a modified IKEA Mandal headboard set? What is that slatted system with shelves?
Jay M that is 3 of the Mandal headboards in front of our game shelves.
Much obliged. Keep up the great work!
