    Very informative video. There is no telling what it would cost if I were to take my XT to a dealer and have my clutch replaced. And it's just that simple.Thanks.

    We have not yet tested the 14'' models yet but the clutching has stayed the same as 13'' so its a safe bet it will work just fine with a 13'' model kit.

    32 grams are the lightest we sell for the Can Am's. If you are trying to raise your rpms by going to a lighter weight you can also try going to a stiffer primary spring on the end rate. One other option might be grinding the weights down a little but you have to be careful on not changing the profile to much.

    Torque the primary clutch bolt to 89 ft/lbs +/- 6 ft/lbs. Can-Am recommends using a new secondary (driven) clutch bolt every time the bolt has been removed. Can-Am’s torque procedure for the secondary (driven) clutch bolt is: Step 1 torque bolt to 15 ft/lbs +/- 1ft/lbs. Step 2 tighten; 180 degrees +/- 5 degrees.

    If you are talking about getting them rebuilt that sounds close but just putting the kit in might be a bit much for installation of a kit. But the cost for installation is up to the shop i would suggest shopping around a bit first.

    On this machine just the rear fender wells (Foot wells) are cut to fit the 30'' Silverbacks.

    the amount of twist they put on the spring is so minimal it won't make much of a differance. On the older torsional style secondarys they did because they were wound up 1/3-1/4 of a turn.

    I have read that the clutch weights for the 13' 650's are 31grams already and I couldn't find and lower weights than 32grams on your website. or don't you sell the lower ones separately?

    Hi there I need to order a kit but not got a clue what to order the trouble is I've gone to a heavy 26" tyre on my 2010 renegade 800 and can't seem to get it to wheely anymore also feels like I've lost a little bit of top end, will a clutch kit correct this? Also if I put a clutch kit on will I loose top end speed? Can anybody give me any advice about this, apart from watching this really good detailed video I've not got a clue about clutches and how the weights etc work,
    Regards Steve

    • @EPIperformance
      @EPIperformance  8 років тому

      +suddy07 Yes the clutch kit will help you. If you have a real heavy set of 26" tires I would recommend using the Sport Utility kit for the 27-28" tires. This kit will give you more bottom end and midrange power and torque, faster backshift and throttle response and will grip the belt better then stock. It will help make up for the power loss of the larger tires. I would recommend also changing the belt, our kits will work with the OE belt or any of the EPI belts. Top end speed will stay pretty close to what you have now, you might lose only a few mph. Hope that helps.

    What is the advantage to having the different size weights? Also at 8:17 is it normal to have that ring around the inside of the primary that looks like a wear mark from the belt? Im just curious.

    • @EPIperformance
      @EPIperformance  10 років тому

      We use different weights to fine tune the shift and top rpms for the machine. Different size tires, elevation, and other mods can effect what weights to use. Usually the belt will leave a black mark on the clutches from normal operation. On the Can Ams some of them have a clutch sheave that has a gold colored plating on it which makes it easier to see where the belt has been running in the clutch.

    hey i took the bolt out of my primary clutch and stood up to get a rubber mallet when i did it came flying off and fell apart didn't get a chance to mark it any way to figure out which way it goes back together its on a 2015 can am xmr only about 4 hours on it any input would be much appreciated thanks

    • @EPIperformance
      @EPIperformance  9 років тому

      v ell Luckily on the primary clutch you don't need to align it in any certain way. You can just put the spring back in and push the outer half back on. The secondary (rear ) clutch is a different story where you have to align it with the helix. Hope that helps, let us know if you have any other questions.

    Looking for a clutch kit for 2012 renegade 800. It has some itp 30s on it. I do alot of trail riding thru mud holes and sand pits Wich kit would be best for me.

    • @EPIperformance
      @EPIperformance  4 роки тому +1

      If you are mainly riding in mud and trail and lower speeds I would use the Mudder kit part number WE437083. If you are doing more all out top end speed use the Sport Utility kit for 27-28" tires part number WE437081. Most would go with the mudder kit. The kit will change the weights, primary spring and the secondary spring.

    I purchased your EPI Kit for a Can Am Renegade 800, the problem is that some of your pins (which pass inside the masses) go hard through the holes in the primary clutch. Why?

      Found now I mean the Screw M5

      @@EPIperformance yeeeehaaaa.........a reply,thank God,I've been trying to get in touch with you for a while now.well from your catalogue it's not very clear.so I ride mostly hard pack and rocky trails.....and am often doing recovery in the woods or on steep slopes where only I can go.I still am on the original tyre size(25*10*12rr and25*8*12fr)which work great for what I do.I use Maxxis Bighorn but only because it's the best compromise here.so if tou have some suggestions,they're welcome.in the event also that they will be available here.lol......thanks again.best regards from tropical Mauritius.

      @@christopherlamb7386 If you running those tires I would use the Sport Utility Kit for Stock Tires. We have a set up for 0-3000ft elevation which is WE436493 or if you are always above 3000ft then use WE436494. The kit will give you better low end and midrange power, faster backshift and throttle response and will grip the belt better then stock. Make the machine work better all around. If you go to our website and put those numbers in the search it should show up.

      The EPI clutch kits will upgrade your clutches and give you more low end and midrange power, faster backshift and throttle response and will grip the belt better then stock. If your losing power you should inspect your clutches for wear or damage. It could also be your engine getting weak.
