The calorie thing scared me. Not because of the lie about calories per say, but the thought that they might be lying about other nutrition facts like carbs. My girl friend is a type 1 diabetic and relies on the menu's statement about carbs to know how much insulin to take before eating. If she doesn't take enough she could go into Ketoacidosis and die or if she takes too much she could go into a coma. It's so shameless for these companies to deliberately deceive us

Usually there's a safe range - being a little out with insulin occasionally is OK. Not ideal, but not hugely dangerous

I get what you're saying but most of us diabetics don't count calories we count carbs. The carbs are what would put our lives in danger. Once again not discounting what you said but it's actually not that big of a deal.

I’m a former McDonalds general manager. While it didn’t go on while I was in charge, over the years while I was just a shift manager I saw so many other people from upper management talking about “the perfect way to hold the box” so it’s “fluffy, not full.” This was all in an effort to reduce food cost. They didn’t put the real work in to actually reduce food cost to they found Bullshit ways to make up for it. Ripping off customers on anything they could.

With the BK coupon thing, for many that I've seen, it's more BOGO, rather than a set price. So as long as they are only charging you for one burger, then it's fine. IN the case of BK, it sort of depended on what the price of a single burger actually was. But in all my experiences (not just with fast food) most places will offer such coupons, and then jack up the price so you feel like you're getting a deal when in fact you're saving a dollar maybe. This happens less with fast food but is more common in stores. It's all a sales gimmick, and also keep in mind in the small fine print of some coupons (BOGOs) it will state you have to buy a full meal at full price (whatever that is) and you might get a second item (item only, not a second whole meal in some cases) free.
And lastly, with regard to cup sizes, the best way to get the most for your money is to not get ice with your drink. I never do. Some places won't fill the cup up completely, but others will. And places that let you get your own drinks are the best, because you don't have to tell anyone not give you ice and you can fill up the cup completely. Part of the reason I don't bother with ice is because usually the pop coming out of the machine is cold enough and you really don't need ice--it just takes up extra space that could be occupied by soda or juice or whatever.

I work at Starbucks, and we actually put a reasonable amount of foam at my store, the costumer also has the options to adjust their drink. Meaning they could ask for (less foam, more cold brew, less ice and more cold brew, etc.) my point is, costumers get what they want either way. And if they’re not satisfied, then we remake it for them again and make sure to get their order right.

You do realise that the photoshopping part is just touching up, don’t you? They aren’t adding anything additional on to it. Have you ever watched a video of the entire burger (regardless of what chain it is) put together by the photographer? It’s painstakingly intricate. The entire process from beginning to end has to be ‘just so’. Nothing is actually enlarged in photoshop, they just enhance colours that may not have been adequately picked up on in the photographs (because they’re working against time / natural light & using ring / spot lights etc which may distort the colour they’re going for), they spend time on the more intricate details that we as consumers likely don’t take much notice of. It’s all marketing. It draws you in, it makes you want to try something - especially new items - so they profit.
It’s no different to anything in life. Models modelling clothes, shoes, bags, accessories, to cars. They’re all visually enhanced.

Sometimes they don't overload the fries and other times I've seen them not even really measure but just scoop up as much as they possibly can.

I've worked at a few McDonald's in my time- the "perfect hold" for a fry box is loose in the hand, hold it on an angle so the fries slide in so they are perfectly straight and line up with the top part of the box.
The first McDonald's I worked at had a scale to measure the weight.
There is no real way to hold the box to skimp on fries and make it look full. You have to pop it to fill it.
I will say, they do have ways to hide they didn't fill the fry box; if they lay it down horizontal in the bag, take it back. That's how they hide that they DID skimp on your fries.
Fries should always be placed in a bag standing up by McDonald's policy.
Also, if it's not a popular sandwich, order your meat fresh. Some patties will stay in the warmer way past their expire time.

At Starbucks, the amount of foam doesn't change how much coffee is actually in the drink. And if you wait to drink your foamed beverages, yes they aren't full as the foam slowly dissipates. Also, you try to work making drinks for people, while needing to keep up with the orders and managing to "perfectly" fill the cups every time. The rule for filling cups is approximately 1/4" from the top. We do our best but sometimes your cup may not contain as much foam as shown in the pictures but you always have the same amount of coffee as the espresso shots are added directly to your cup before the steamed milk or water.

Do not eat proprietary foods, who knows what they are putting in it behind the scenes or if the food is as advertised or if its even real food. Source code of the food must be always public so anyone can audit everything that's in the food so we can be always sure what exactly are we eating.

We push the sides slightly together so the carton is open, then we push the bottom in, ensuring the carton will remain open. This allows us to put all the fries required in with the scooper. With the bottom pushed in, it also acts like a landing, by that, I mean you can stand the fries up.

The packaging is an obvious one. The Big Mac used to have patty’s the size of the quarter pounder in the original. The one that really bothers me is some time back when you bought a burger and asked for cheese there was an added fee. Now the cheese is already included and when you ask to have it without it, there isn’t any reduction in price. This to me is the biggest scam fast food restaurants are perpetrating without there being any recourse for financial compensation. Oh, and as far as ordering French Frys from any fast food restaurant I tend to buy medium, because Mc Donald’s overcharges for the small size on purpose to scam you on the large size. Beverages are treated the same way except here in the Bay Area Mc Donald’s offers the correct price for a large one. The best bang for the buck fast food restaurant is In n Out.

People are starting to realize that fast food sucks is over priced and more people such as myself are eating healthier and cooking at home because fast food is overpriced and unhealthy and people are starting to notice the scams. They used to get us to spending more money and are going out getting real food as it is either cheaper or the same price.
