It may be a good camera for someone moving up from a cell phone, But it's also a good camera for someone who wants to occasionally move down from their FF A7riii and have a great tiny camera for the car. Hi! I really need help with my XA5 Video. Every time I want to take video, it will only record for 10seconds and it will say on the screen, "storing". It automatically saves video after 10seconds of video recording. I am really frustrated. Please help me.
I use d810 and d800 and x-h1 with all pro glasses in both the systems but I don't know why I'm always interested in xa series and xa5 will be my buy in a week...believe me a professional set of skills and this camera is more than enough to produce arts
I bought X-A5 2 month ago, and I love it. as a phone photographer for my entire life, this camera is great. its compact, the price is good for my budget, but I hate that electric zoom. sometimes it just won't move. other than that, I like it. and just last week I bought 50-230 lens, and so far, this combination is what I need from a camera.
just got an X-A5 to use for video, I shoot photos with my X-T1 but the video on it was not cutting it. getting a used X-A5 with out the power zoom for 239$ was a no brainer in my opinion. Ill be testing and using this camera extensively on my channel if anyone is interested in more info and video examples. thanks for the great review as always. you rock man.
I just ordered one for a 'light weight' travel option to use instead of my Xpro2. I will probably sell the 'kit lens' and use my 18-55 instead- making the deal even sweeter!

Scott Graham the price difference between the X-A5 and the X-T20 where I live is huge. Like almost twice the price. My doubts are I might regret getting the X-A5 because it doesn't have EVF or some other thinge that might simply be better on the X-T20 (like image quality). But I do know I am still starting out. Decisions, decisions.

mikes41720 You just need to ask yourself a few questions and decide what features are must haves for you. Would you rather have a selfie screen or a viewfinder? What focal length are you looking to shoot and look to see if lenses are available in the prices you want to spend. They're all great, but they're not all the same either. Just pick one for one reason or another and GET OUT AND SHOOT.

I prefer the Fuji files/colours over the M50. If you’re shooting mostly stills and can live without a viewfinder the X-A5 won’t disappoint you. If you’re shooting any video I’d go for the M50.

oh man thanks, that's a little closer to what I'm looking for. I don't have much interest in video unless I want to do some b roll type projects for fun. Still though, it's hard to see the $200 difference in the xt100 over the d3400. The fuji is gorgeous looking however.

Just need one with selfie/flip out screen, good quality image and video (for sure better than a phone) and able to shoot more than 10min. My other options are Olympus PEN E-PL9, E-PL8, Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II, Canon EOS M50, canon eos m100, sony a5100. Trying to figure out wich one is the best in video and photos(both day light and low light)!?
I agree with you on a lot...but I think m4/3rds is pretty awesome...I think that this camera is okay but why not buy a used XE-1 or XE2..and get at least an 18-55 zoom lens instead?????....a couple less megapixels for a superior camera..I mean really..
it is way much better than any canon in the same price range, 1000d is a 10 years old camera( june 2008) this one is a5 is 2018, any camera released recently is better than a 1000d. I switched from canon 5ds, 5d3 multiple bodies, to xt2 xh1 better sensors better prices and most important better dynamic range, especialy for astrophotography
Sony glass not great?! I will grant they’re expensive as hell, but not great is a ridiculous statement. And before you say it, I Shoot Sony & Fuji ( XT2, XPro2 & X100t) with a gang of Fuji lens and Sony G Master glass for my Sony a7rIII & a7III. Sony is definitely an expensive route to take and the Fuji line up of cameras and lens affordable, but to say Sony glass is not great is just not true!

Your right on the travel/backpacking choice. Its light and if its gets stolen, so what, its only 500 bucks. Swap out the lens for a XF tho

I started with an X-A camera and upgraded after I learned how to get them most out of it. Save a few bucks and start with the X-A5.

Thanks for the kind words! I’d go for the X-T100 over the X-A5. It’s slightly more expensive but it’s a much better camera.

The X-A5 would be a great camera for that.
Is it okay for recording video? Some says it has a bad video quality, but I'm really into XA5.
I liked the video quality. But only in 1080.

A used XC 16-50mm F/3.5-5.6 would work for that.

The X-A5. The front facing screen is great for vlogging.

It’s not that close at 45mm. Maybe 6 to 8 inches? At 15mm it’s very close.
