    Very interesting channel! So it's accurate to say that any movement that biases the mid pecs will also work very well the lower pecs and any movement that biases the lower pecs will also work really well the mid pecs? So, in general, the only head that we should think to isolate is the upper one?

    Amazing Ben! Im a lil bit confused on the effect of narrow vs Wide arm path, Joe bennet says narrow path aligns more with upper pec even in flat press and wide aligns with sternal and costal
    Contrary to yours

    Assuming you already include an horizontal press, an incline press and a chest fly into your routine, do you think a vertical press is needed in order to hit the shoulders directly?

    Studies show hypertrophy occurs from the stretch position not the shortening - contraction, therefore the squeeze and crossover is not relevant for growth..?

    • @The_Modern_Meathead
      @The_Modern_Meathead  7 місяців тому +1

      this is a gross extrapolation/oversimplification of the research and is not an accurate conclusion

    • @EvanZamir
      @EvanZamir 7 місяців тому +1

      My understanding is the “studies”
      show that there is more hypertrophy from the lengthened range of motion compared to short, but that doesn’t mean there is only hypertrophy from the former and not the latter. This does raise the question though whether flyes are really necessary.

    Am i wrong in saying arms wider on the incline is a change of taught, i believe i seen you promote a more narrow grip even for incline due to leverage im not sure haha

  • @adomasgaudiesius

    Great content, a bit hard to follow, underrated channel, but i would love if you could link the details you're talking about more to the final practical use case, i personaly find myself spacing out even though i need to know the mechanics, i cant follow them for too long if I dont have a usecase in mind.
    For example, like "the incline bench press sucks because x, and thats because if you look at the anatomy ... Blah blah"
    Sorry for the criticism, i do intend to devour all of your content now :d

  • @EvanZamir
    @EvanZamir 7 місяців тому

    Are flyes effective at all if they are mostly working in the shortened range of motion? Seems like the “lengthened partial” guys would say no.

    • @calle6075
      @calle6075 6 місяців тому

      Agreeing there. I’d say the opposite to what he says here. Flyes for the stretch, legnthed part. As Jeff Nippard only does legnthed partials on dumbbell flyes because no resistance when contracted at top.. Benefit ofcourse withe cables /pecdeck when u get resistance from sides too, not only down.
      So cables give better resistance at end of movement than dumbbel, press or fly. Although the press around is more targeted for the end, contracted, shortened part.

This is the first time I've seen you, and I generally move on when a creator doesn't mention their credentials upfront because YT is filled with uneducated "influencers". However, despite your poor production values (please work on that), you have a "Master Class" presentation style. Excellent information! 👍👍

    more of these Ben, your doing an amazing job.
    Just some constructive criticisms for you to consider: Maybe dumb the language down just a bit so more casual people can understand. I'm just starting to get my head around this whole biomechanics and anatomy thing and sometimes I with you would speak in a little bit more of a beginner friendly way.
    Just something for you to consider. If you change absolutely nothing about these videos they'll still be tremendously valuable tho!
