They have found that there are over 200 different variants of G6PD. I think it’s worth mentioning that this disease does in fact effect women. For every son who has this, his mother should be tested because may also be effected. For ever father who has this deficiency, he will have pass that X chromosome with the deficiency to any daughters he has. I inherited this from both parents making me a homozygous female.

This video was mainly aimed at medical students for the preparation for the final exams, in which classically the question stem presents a male with the condition, so sadly it's not seen very commonly in exam questions.
