So beautiful! I only just discovered your channel today and I bemoan the fact that I didn't do it earlier. Amazing contents and great footage and science. Keep it up :)
Very interesting! I wonder what other lakes might contain specialized wonders like what we see in Tanganyika and (to a lesser extent) Malawi or Victoria I only knew of the salt lakes cichlids Alcolapia and Danakilia
I don't think any other habitats are big enough to produce those kind of specialists, let alone species we don't know about. But there are lots of deep water species in both Malawi and Tanganyika that we have not seen in the hobby.
@@belowwater I can see that. Although it just take some under-recognized specialized habitat for new species of cichlids (and other fishes) to colonize True. Malawi and Tanganyika deep-water cichlids are underappreciated in the hobby as well. Truly abyssal beings of the freshwater fish hobby at any sense of the word
S.angusticeps, stappersi for sure, the 1 or 2 of the large tooth group, and perhaps 1 more similar to stappersi, i can answer that better when your "people" decide how many species there are!
