I’m new to this car. I recently purchased a 2020 Hakone Edition 86. Boost will come after the initial warranty expires. I love this car!! Thank you for sharing!
@@Mango_j98 it's not about being good or not, it's about voiding the engine warranty by adding it. Anything can happen with or without boost so it's just a fail safe to wait. I just got a 22 GR86, and Im boosting it asap lol!!!!!
I haven't timed it but its not fantastic (somewhere in the low to mid 5s). Centrifugal Superchargers perform best at higher rpms so they punch hard if you were to step on it at 5k rpms+, but from a low end torque perspective it feels fairly stock.
If you do just headers and standard exhaust with or without supercharger its faster. Its got better throttle response then any aftermarket exhaust says the real world maybe not the dyno
Damn, just installed my jrsc but how come your rotrex doesn't whine at all at idle? My rotrex whistles hella loud...seems to build boost just fine too.
How long did it take the Jackson Racing Supercharger to come in? I've been waiting 6 weeks, and I'm still waiting for mine! You car looks and sounds Awesome! Keep up the good work!
@@jvh22a I personally love it. Due to it being centrifugal the amount of boost you make increases based on rpms which leads to an extremely smooth powerband that's subtle on the lower rev range but flies on the upper end. It is a bit less torquey than twin screw/roots style superchargers (e.g. Edelbrock) at the lower end, but also has a slightly higher peak at the top end if you were to tune the kit to its limit. The closest thing I can describe it to is a turbo without turbo lag. If that's what you're looking for then this kit is perfect for you.
Dude. You have an altoids box in the same spot I put mine at. I’ve had my altoids box as an ash tray for 2-3 years and that’s it’s spot in my brz 🤣 you might have actual altoids but it’s funny to me, to think yours is there for the same reason 🤣
I don’t know much about super chargers and turbos... but I have Mazda CX-7 which has a little turbo... it isn’t that great. I’m happy with having an NA Brz. But I may change my mind if I have a supercharger... but turbo, not worth it I reckon.
Depends on the turbo and tune. Stock turbos are never aggressive, but if you tuned the car it would feel much different. Turbos are best bang for buck in terms of raw horsepower and they are very tunable, unlike superchargers.
@@yawny9710 ahhh... I never knew a tuned turbo can make the turbo aggressive. That is something interesting. Thanks for letting me know there is a difference between stock and tuned turbo.
@@2ndchanceinlife it doesn't really make it "aggressive", I don't know why I used that term. But getting it tuned will allow much more power. Size of turbo matters as well, generally the larger the turbo will have later onset of boost in the rpms and can produce more power, smaller turbos require less spooling so the boost comes on sooner in rpm range, but not as intense.
@@yawny9710 one of my work colleagues had his BRZ turboed. He allows me to drive it one day. For the price of power ratio, it’s a little pricey, but worth it in his opinion. I asked him why do people seem to sell their turbo kit or sell the turboed car after they had the boost experience. His answer was what I have thought to be, if you love the car, turbo it. If you are chasing power, look for another car. I may one day want to turbo. But man it’s expensive. I’m also worried that being turboed, you gotta take care of parts and it’ll be a costly maintenance added
@@2ndchanceinlife id prefer a supercharger, tend to be more reliable and it gives consistent power which is kind of what the BRZ/86 needs in corners. I'd be a bit afraid of going into a corner and having the boost come on from a turbo lol
Good Review, looks like you enjoyed it but judging by your expression not worth the 5k+ for parts and labor. A big upgraded over the stock power. A fun lightweight car with some umph! Nice
For the price it was underwhelming. It's definitely faster but I wouldn't consider it fast. From my experience, coming from a factory turbo car. I spent much less yielding way better gains. E85 on a turbocharger car 👌👌
I bet this thing is stupid in the canyons!!! It has tractable/linear power mmmm. Top end I would be unimpressed but in the corners I bet I would shit my pants!!

These are reliable cars tbh your good boosting it early!
Same lol i waited until the warranty from the dealership to expire to boost mine haha

Thank you everyone !
Nice video! Enjoyed your thoughts on the SC
Want to fix the weight balance after going supercharger? Transfer the battery at the back.
@L W where can I find one ? Recommendations ??
I have the whiteout frs with the same wheels. But how come my car doesn’t look good with these wheels? Wth mang
What do you mean? Is it even lowered?
You probably need a lowering kit to make it look better
He probably has different size wheels and tires, always makes a difference
Nice car! Do you happen to know what the 0-60mph time is? Been waiting for my 86 to come on preorder since May here in Aus!!

@@chrisdong5818 it should pull a lot harder than that. I just picked up a 22 GR86 with 228hp and stock its banging 5.4s
No one has done 5.4 sec to 60 on youtube
How are the MPG’s with the addition of the supercharger?
It ultimately depends on driving habits. But for me it was 25->20MPG.
Nice! How'd I miss this video!
I have my 2016 frs widebody jrsc on e85 and i love it cant complain.
How much whp are you doing?
Awesome brz . Where can i get that sticker ? The your not low cat sticker ?

Difference between supercharging and turbo is night and day. Supercharging is fun turbo is not its that simple. Its a no brainer
Hows has it held up

What size injectors do you have

Check belt tension

Adding boost to any stock slow car NEVER SUCK
Exactly. I did the same thing with my old miata. Even a tiny turbo makes a world of difference.
Until it stops being reliable 😂
