We succeeded in taking that picture [from deep space], and, if you look at it, you see a dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever lived, lived out their lives. The aggregate of all our joys and sufferings, thousands of confident religions, ideologies and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilizations, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every hopeful child, every mother and father, every inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every superstar, every supreme leader, every saint and sinner in the history of our species, lived there on a mote of dust, suspended in a sunbeam. The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that in glory and in triumph they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of the dot on scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner of the dot. How frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds. Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity - in all this vastness - there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves. It is up to us. It's been said that astronomy is a humbling, and I might add, a character-building experience. To my mind, there is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly and compassionately with one another and to preserve and cherish that pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known. - Carl Sagan Pale Blue Dot speech Truly puts our lives into perspective and is quite humbling.
It's really important that we should stick together on this small place we inhabit. All the grand gestures of conquering and self importance doesn't matter. If you had an ambition. Itll be replaced eventually by someone else. The most you can do is have compassion and aim for the highest good with your fellow man because you've only got 1 life existing on this pale blue dot.
I instead found that she's one of the rare people to not be completely confused by what was happening, because she knew about history. She was laughing at jokes that she wouldn't laugh at if she didn't have the historical context and reference. So many people watch this and never laugh because it's so confusing to them, they seem like they don't understand anything. Here, both of them knew most of that stuff, and granted there are a few things that are obscure enough so not a lot of people know about them because it's just… not being taught in school.

Fun fact about the blue dot image: Earth actually only takes up about a tenth of a pixel. Our entire existence reduced to a rounding error. And that was from only 0.00063 light-years away. The distance to Proxima Centauri, our second-closest star, is 3.9 light-years. It's obscene just how absolute huge space really is.

Not really. While most of it is somewhat accurate, there is a lot that is just not accurate. I can't say if this is due to a biased narrative, Bill Wurtz being miseducated, or whatever else.
Can you give examples of what's inaccurate? When the video was first uploaded, a bunch of major history buffs reviewed it and the worst thing they had to say was that it didn't put quite enough focus on certain events. In terms of accuracy, this is actually much better then even your average documentary.
@@nickgalluzzi1329 Well the obvious was that the US "manifest destiny" did NOT mean "slaughter all the indians and kick out the mexicans". That isn't what happened at all. Also, the video made it seem like the crusades were just something that happened because one guy called up a buddy and said "hey we both have selfish goals, let's work together!" but that isn't what the crusades were about. Also, the part about countries being rich in oil comes up and the american flag with the attentive face comes up in the lower left corner. That's an obvious reference to the belief that the US only cares about oil and starts wars for oil and all of that nonsense. Not true at all. As a matter of fact, I take back what I said about not saying what the reasons are for the video's inaccuracies. Now that I lay a few of them out, it seems to stem from that anti-US, anti-western, narrative that has been infecting the political left for the last few decades.

He has already seen it. He told it near the end of the video.
@@devverma144 Seeing it and doing a video are different things. Can still share thoughts on it. Though, I'll do a search and see if he put a video out on it, don't recall though.
@@NitroCigarette He didn't. I meant he has seen it. Nothing more than that.
@@devverma144 I know you meant he has seen it, overall. I was mostly thinking out loud, about searching to see if he had done a video on it.
This really is the best reaction to this video on UA-cam. It really is. You both just devolve into 7 year olds trying to learn, yet maintain enough presence in the now to get the humor. Well done.
The woman's facial expressions is why we watch reaction videos
Fkn brilliant😂
Did I just watch this video of the main video with people laughing in the background?
Has Jaby done history of Japan yet?
No
why?
That video was even funnier. When Japan said to Russia "Can you maybe chill?", I totally lost it 😂😂
This is like a last minute crash course an alien would see before landing on Earth

- Carl Sagan
Pale Blue Dot speech
Truly puts our lives into perspective and is quite humbling.

is it just me or did I not read any of that except the bottom?...and thanks for the information I didn’t read!

@@predetor911 as it should be taught :) true history is just matter of fact.

Survival of the fittest doesn't mean survival of the physically strongest, it means survival of the ones who fit in best in their environment. It's basically survival of the best adapted.
If you blink you might miss a century.

Legit talk. This needs to be played in every like history or social studies class. XD
@@KurNorock Uh... those are more in jest then actual inconsistencies. Anyone with basic History knowledge knows they are jokes.
@@jasonutty52 bullshit. All of the "jokes" in this video are based on historical or scientific fact. These particular examples are the opposite of what really happened. They might be jokes but they are still wrong, which goes against everything else in the entire video.
