You guys gotta go watch the original precursor to this video "History of Japan" which is essentially a take on what you're talking about. A focus on on region.
@The Reel Rejects, React to "History of Japan" by the same youtube channel, it's shorter and also good. Also check this guy out, he makes funny short videos normally.
Bill wurtz is a mastermind at those things. If you count the amount of time from when the text starts disappearing to the the second he says "forget this", it's about 8.5 seconds, which is roughly the amount of time of the adult Human attention span. It's genius
Basically all of human history boiled down to a 15-20 minute video. I learned about most of this stuff on the 7th and 8th grade. That's 2 years. This dude just took 20 minutes to teach me more history than I learned in 2 years in school.
In school you stay on one subject a lot longer to actually learn and remember it. This video is basically the history in a nutshell without much detail.
It’s because in school, the program forces you to learn the details of what happens, in this video bill wurtz actually made a joke out of the most important stuff in humans history without giving any details. I am not against it, this is just criticism. Edit : wow 2 likes! Ego-boost! Probably most likes I ever got

People who know history are doomed to see what's happening, warn everyone, and be ignored while things unfold exactly as predicted. Knowledge is not power.
unfortunately a lot of history is also written by the victor, which isn't so bad for older history because we've learned to dig deep enough to find the truth, but when it comes to history of nations that are powerful today its nearly impossible to spread the real truth of the history of their time, like if i wanted to talk about the true history of the death of the meso-american civilizations then youtube would immediately censor me. and youtube is supposed to be an american company, and america is supposed to be all about freedom of speech and anti-censorship, but they only say that until its inconvenient for them, in reality america's information system is nearly as bad as the great firewall of china.
What got me about this was just how many nations/empires have developed then collapsed throughout history. Now most of them are completely forgotten outside of a history book.
Well, actually… I know this video is old so I don't really expect you guys to read this comment but IF YOU DO. Bill Wurtz actually took 11 months to complete the video. Altogether with notes and important moments in history.
It only really covers the history of half the world, too: It only barely touches on the history of civilization in the Americas, even though Latin America had thousands of years of history that he could have gone into in detail, but didn't.
Sure, but can't one say that most of the action was happening in Europe, the Middle East, India, and China/Korea/Japan? The Native Americans were arguably just on either side of reaching *S O C I E T Y* (depending on the tribe/civilization) when the Europeans arrived and conquered them.
+BlueFox94: That's only true for some parts of the Americas: groups in Mexico/Guatamala Belize (IE, Mesoamerica), and Peru/Ecuador/Bolivia (IE the Andes) had complex, state level societies with urban cities, actual goverments, organized armies, etc for thousands of years prior to contact with europeans: It's not as if the Aztec and Inca were the first actual civilizations in those regions, they were the latest among hundreds: Even around 1000 years before the Aztec empire was a thing, you had cities with populations in the high tens of thousands to into the 100k to 200k range., which is comparable to large cities from ancient greece or the roman empire. You have cities going back as far as 1400BC in Mexico, 3000 years before the Aztecs were a thing. So, for what's now the United States, Brazil, etc, sure, there's not much stuff to go over, but there's absolutely as much wars, diplomacy, trade, etc going on in Mesoamerica and the Andes as what was happening in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, India, etc. Granted, historical records are a lot harder to come by (thank the spanish for burning them all), but given that the video is only giving 1-2 sentence long quips about each event, that's not that big a deal, it's still entirely doable: I made a 60,000 character summation of Mesoamerican history once thatt covered all 3000 years of it, and I'm just some guy interested in it as a hobby, so if I could do it, so could he.
@@valkenhayn412 actually in Italy we study all this from the third grade up to the fifth high school. I have already read other comments where there were Americans who said they studied not even half of what we saw in the video. But seriously? It's very cool but it's unfortunately EXTREMELY old world centric: He only touches on the precolumbian americas a few times in thee video despite latin america having thousands of years of civilization he could have gone into detail on like he did europe, asia, and the middle east.
It’s multiple years later but I was literally about to comment about that comment too cause I’m literally watching a playlist of history of the entire world I guess reactions right now as background to take a nap 😂
The first time I watched the History of the Entire World, I Guess video, I wasn't sure if I lost or gained brain cells. Had to immediately take a nap afterwards to process all the information. (Fun fact, some of the things in the video actually helped me in my history final last year)
Last year at the end of the schoolyear exactly three (3) people showed up to class one of which was a student from another school who considered changing to our school the next year, so we watched this video. Great first impression apparently
Rojenn Ortiz The Vikings(I think it was them) named it that way to confuse people. They wanted Iceland to themselves and to direct everyone else to Greenland
Rojenn Ortiz When Erick the Red discovered Greenland, he wanted to attract colonists from the already named Iceland. The solution he settled on was clickbait. No, I am not joking.
I can't remember who said it, but there was a comedian who commented that, in Japan, their movies show monsters like Godzilla who were created from small animals being exposed to radiation. In the US movies, on the other hand, people being exposed to radiation gives them super powers. Hmmm...why would these two countries have radically different views on the effects of radiation? Let's think real hard about that one.
I completely forgot how overwhelming it wass the first time through, and that was with the added benefit of having seen History of Japan and knowing Bill Wurtz's video style. You have to watch it a couple times in a row and then watch it again after a day or so to catch jokes and things without your brain trying to explode.
If I were ever a HS History teacher, I'd show this video to all my classes on the first day and tell them to make notes of each thing they want to learn more about during the school year and take the most voted areas for my lessons throughout the year. Then show it again on the last day and review with the class.
My brain hurts.....but big F-ing round of applause to that man!!! Wish they had just showen that when i was in school! Of course the internet was still a bit hit or miss way back then....oh well. Xxx
I like that within that short of a time frame it moves from a science lesson to a history lesson seamlessly. It's really effective as a cliff notes of interesting history
I've seen different reactions now, and you can tell the people who are learning something new and those who reconnect the dots from what they learned in school. Amazing video all together!
On the topic of (not) going back to school, at least one history teacher has completely integrated this exact video into their class. They show it on the first day, then go "everything that guy said, we're gonna go over throughout the school year", teach their class throughout the year, and then re-show it on the last day and the students are all like "oh yeah I remember we covered this and that!" and I wish i had that teacher when I was still in school. If you wanna know, they have a UA-cam channel : Mr Terry History
the guy who made this is really talented cos it's pretty accurate, even tough he skipped some stuff and focused a bit too much on other stuff. awesome job , and really funny in a way.
If you guys really did want that “300 part series” I would recommend Crash Corse’s World History series on youtube. It may not be 300 parts but it is great
it gets more and more condensed between each event mentioned as the video goes on because we got better and better at recording history accurately as time went on. the early parts of the video have millions of years between notable things and near then end things are happening one right after the other.
I love that all the uncomfortable shit isn’t sugar coated. It’s stated as a blunt, honest fact...like the rape of Nanking. We can’t make everything all nice and flowery just because it makes us uncomfortable.
Really like the video they're reacting to. Far as I know I knew everything in the video before I saw it the first time but I think something like this helps to remember that shit and connect the information together better.
I decided to watch because I really like the bill wurtz video, but I'm just gonna subscribe right now because of how awesome these guys are to their fans.
I find German history incredibly fascinating because the Germans and Germany were always there, but at the same time not and always different like a shapeshifter. Summarized - Rejects Roman annexation - Teutons defeat Rome, are often slapped in the face, but Rome generally fails to subdue them Create an empire that wasn't really an empire but somehow lived for 1000 years - Very special and unique The Kingdom of Prussia and hundreds of German states gangsta! before being defeated by one of history's greatest generals. defeats the French, unite into a new Empire Get a colonial Empire Fights the whole Gets treated badly Comeback as Villian, fights the whole world again Lost because of own mistakes Gets divided again Reunites again and is not allowed to be strong again. Also, a few German inventions: - Incandescent lamps (Heinrich Göbel 1854) - The Telephone (Johann Philip Reis 1859) - Dynamo and tram (Werner von Siemens 1866) - The 35mm camera (Oskar Barnack 1925) - Nuclear fission and atomic bomb (Otto Hahn - while Nazi Germany emigrated to the Americans of course. Are they lucky the Germans exist - 1938) - The ship chart (Jürgen Dethloff and Helmut Gröttrub 1969) - Periodic Table (Julius Luther Meyer 1864) - Jeans (Levi Strauss 1873) - The recorder, player - with which the first films were possible (Emil Berliner 1887) - Aspirin - which all great athletes used to feel used to relieve pain and which saved countless lives (Felix Hoffmann 1879) - Spark plug (Robert Bosch 1902) - Thermos flask (Reinhold Burger 1903) - the toothpaste (Ottomar Heinsius von Mayenburg) - The coffee filter (Melitta Bentz) - Cassette recorder (Fritz Pfleumer 1928) - Teabag (Adolf Rambold 1929) - The jet engines - Indispensable for all jets and rockets + First war rockets V1, V2 of the Nazis (Hans von Ohain 1929) - The Helicopter (Heinrich Focke 1936) - The first car (Carl Benz - With honorary mustache - 1886) - Computers (Konrad Zuse 1941) - Fanta (During the Nazi era - and yes, this Fanta) - First 3D film (also during the Nazi era) - NASA (due to thousands of German engineers and thinkers that the Americans needed) - Typewriter (Peter Mitterhofer - 1864)
Also education, especially history, is always slanted depending on where you live. Not just country to country but also state to state and even city to city. There is always bias depending on who's teaching you, what your community wants you to learn and how, and also the motives of the people who wrote the text you read about history. That's why index' and bibliographic references are so important, so you can look into who wrote the texts and why. It would baffle people if they actually went through their text book indexes and read about the writers and found out why they "came to their conclusions" in their "research". Some writers just straight up make assumptions and pass it as evidence or fact to support their writing. I like this video just because I like how it doesn't focus on just a couple countries but bounces around. Most things I've seen mainly stick to the same countries over and over so it's nice to see this.

If I were ever a HS History teacher, I'd show this video to all my classes on the first day and tell them to make notes of each thing they want to learn more about during the school year and take the most voted areas for my lessons throughout the year. Then show it again on the last day and review with the class.
Honestly, as a high school student, I would LOVE to have a teacher that did that.
I love how the entire video is just answering the question at the end, 'Where the hell are we?" "Hi! You're on a rock, floating in space..."
My brain hurts.....but big F-ing round of applause to that man!!! Wish they had just showen that when i was in school! Of course the internet was still a bit hit or miss way back then....oh well. Xxx
Oh boy I love eating chemical soup made with gnarly space ingredients!
Hahaha, it's funny when Greg's brain breaks 😂😭😂
Don't worry Greg, that's how all of us felt the first time watching this video
NOT ME i actually learned alot and remember most of it
Have you done Bill Wurtz's, "History of Japan"? It's fantastic too and gives you a little more then this videos "Sunrise Kingdom".
Your reaction: Laughs like 10 times no talking
Blanket protects humanity form the DEADLY LAZER
I like that within that short of a time frame it moves from a science lesson to a history lesson seamlessly. It's really effective as a cliff notes of interesting history
Also you should do the History of Japan next!

MASTER SHOCKZ you shoulden't advertis on other people's channels
TheBritishBulldog love you too

You can make a reli- No. Don't.
I've seen different reactions now, and you can tell the people who are learning something new and those who reconnect the dots from what they learned in school. Amazing video all together!
*btw where the hell are we?*
in the middle of space , why ? :)
you are on a rock, floating in a space, *pretty cool huh?*
@@l.0 There's no middle of the space
We're on UA-cam
No, but really...Where ARE we?
Now you should do the prequel The history of Japan

"hey you aren't me"
"wanna fight about it?"
we can make a religion out of this
I watch "History of the World" about once a year to review, and then I pick a particular moment of interest to research in more depth.
I needed this video today, thank you.
If you guys really did want that “300 part series” I would recommend Crash Corse’s World History series on youtube. It may not be 300 parts but it is great
Oh, that is AMAZING. Definitely recommend Crash Course.
What a brain fart..lot to process lol you both reaction was gold
it gets more and more condensed between each event mentioned as the video goes on because we got better and better at recording history accurately as time went on. the early parts of the video have millions of years between notable things and near then end things are happening one right after the other.
Congratulations!
Brain.exe has expanded by 50%!

The History of Japan needs to be viewed next!
You can't torture me with this, it was my 11th time watching it🤣
I love how he literally whispers "they never got Ethiopia" or Thailand, it's like he doesn't want Britain and France to hear it 🙈
I love that all the uncomfortable shit isn’t sugar coated. It’s stated as a blunt, honest fact...like the rape of Nanking. We can’t make everything all nice and flowery just because it makes us uncomfortable.
How does this only have 2 likes !?
There is another by him on just the history of Japan. It is a bit easier to follow xD.
Wow I'm surprised but not disappointed let's go lmao

“By the way where the hell are we?” - I loved that.
My school teaches me literally a speck of all the history in a month but this video teached me pretty much EVERYTHING
I literally had a headache right after that video. And then came here and watch it again with you guys here.
When you spend 4 years learning history and then a 20 minute video teaches you way more than you were ever taught
Damn I remember when this went viral, good times.
I love how it just broke them both. XD
Really like the video they're reacting to.
Far as I know I knew everything in the video before I saw it the first time but I think something like this helps to remember that shit and connect the information together better.
Mega batch of irony within irony within.. Gotta love Bill Wurtz
It's funny right, I've learned more from Bill Wurtz's videos than I have in any history class I've ever taken.
The Kansas song by the gorrillaz at the beginning 🤣🤣🔥
Hahaha was wondering if anyone was gonna catch that :P

I find German history incredibly fascinating because the Germans and Germany were always there, but at the same time not and always different like a shapeshifter.
Summarized -
Rejects Roman annexation - Teutons defeat Rome, are often slapped in the face, but Rome generally fails to subdue them
Create an empire that wasn't really an empire but somehow lived for 1000 years - Very special and unique
The Kingdom of Prussia and hundreds of German states gangsta! before being defeated by one of history's greatest generals.
defeats the French, unite into a new Empire
Get a colonial Empire
Fights the whole
Gets treated badly
Comeback as Villian, fights the whole world again
Lost because of own mistakes
Gets divided again
Reunites again and is not allowed to be strong again.
Also, a few German inventions:
- Incandescent lamps (Heinrich Göbel 1854)
- The Telephone (Johann Philip Reis 1859)
- Dynamo and tram (Werner von Siemens 1866)

- Jeans (Levi Strauss 1873)
- The recorder, player - with which the first films were possible (Emil Berliner 1887)

When he goes and lays down on the floor afterwards is literally how i felt so much information
