To me: Main reason why the 09 Saints are special? Except for those Saints and 2006 Colts: ALL of the GREATEST OFFENSES in NFL history by yards, points, LOSE in the postseason. 2013 Broncos are #1 prolific offense. 2007 Patriots are #2. The Manning Colts and Brees Saints litter the list of top offenses of all time. Never ends in titles. Brady's best seasons 2011, 2017 ALSO end without titles. ONLY once did a top offense with a below average defense win it all....the 2006 Colts, with the 26th place defense in points allowed. They are STILL the greatest offenses, end of story. 2009 Saints although they forced a lot of turnovers; stealing possesions that they scored on... they STILL allowed a lot of points. When it came down to the end, to the NFC Championship and Superbowl; they won by scoring lots of points. ONE amazing defensive play by Porter helped at the end of SB; but remember, the Colts score and tie it and the Saints win by scoring again. Manning's only hope was to score so slowly they forced OT and won the coin toss and scored a TD.
@@joshzpipos1 Exactly. This doesn't diminish the accomplishments of Brees & Manning. Ring counting is the worst possible way to evaluate ANY player; Brady is NOT the GOAT. Whenever he had less then top 3 defense, he lost in the postseason, sometimes blown out. Brees is at the very least the equal of Brady. If Brady can dominate in Tampa in 2020; somehow win a ring without a top 3 defense; I'll change my mind. Hell, if he even makes it close, like a 42-38 loss in the 2020 NFC Championship; that could clinch it for me.

You guys got a great coach probably one of the greatest offensive minds in NFL history as a diehard Saints fan. It was tough to see him go but once brees retired that was it for him and my opinion he did one more season five straight winning season to close it out 4 straight division titles should’ve got a 2nd Super Bowl ring besides this 2010 one so he would’ve been regarded as one of the greatest coaches ever with two rings, but the refs had it out for us because Goodell has it out for us still to this day in 2024 and sad because Payton didn’t know much about what was going on behind his back and everybody knows bounties happened. Maybe not now so much, but it happens, all you have to do is google 2006 Packers bounty and that’ll pop up all over for years. I mean they made Sports sissified but I am hoping he does well for you guys. See you guys in a few days and he’ll get hopefully a warm response we are in injured and beat up, we need to get some wins. Hopefully we get a win versus Buccaneers. I wouldn’t mind losing to you guys because you’re an AFC team but obviously you wanna win every game even with all the backups for our injury decimated team that will be coming back but close we could come back and get it, but it still hurts to know Asterix Super Bowl smh.
He was a better analyst then coach. 2001 Raiders is the last good offense he ever managed. 7th in yards, 4th in Scoring. www.pro-football-reference.com/coaches/GrudJo0.htm He's the most overrated HC in history, 2002 Bucs offense DECLINED from #15 to #18 in scoring. What an offensive Wizard! He left Dungy's entire D staff in place, Monte Kiffin's D peaked at #1 and that's how they won it all. He NEVER developed any QBs. The 99-01 Raiders needed 34-37 year old QB Rich Gannon. Wow what a wizard.

When you watch the all 22 and the colts inexplicably stopped running man coverage the mind is instantly boggled the saints had 0 answers for it. So many ?s about that game
Can't wait to see all the "Bounty Gate" comments. As if nearly every NFL team didn't have the same system, including the Vikings. Or like the Raiders, Eagles, Bears, Redskins etc didn't make a name knocking out and injuring players. It's a violent game, and if you're going to cry and complain about a game/season 11 years ago, for a system of violent hits that ALL teams participated in, you need to find a new sport. Consider tennis. Instead, watch the breakdown of one of the best offensive systems of the 21st century, with one of the best TV football personalities of all time
Actually, Bellichik was pretty interesting using "bellestrator" back in the day on a weekly show in N.E. There's clips of it in a great NFL Films documentary about the 03-04 win streak. Dude is breaking down film of Jevon Kearse and other monsters of early 2000's. "he can cause us some problems". Bill is a great teacher but most people don't want to know that much. He was on "History of the AFL" expounding on Paul Brown and Sid Gillman. He's boring on the podium by design: NO bulletin board material, no intel to the opponents.
I actually bought the audio version of "Big Book of Bellichik" - An encyclopedia of things he said when asked good questions, broken down by subject and topic. Fascinating.
He's a way better TV personality then coach. He's an offensive coach, right? Tampa's best offensive year 02 was 15th place in scoring. I want him back on TV teaching me. Why can't the 2018-2019 Raiders put up the points of 2016?
I was in 8th grade and remember the conversations being held in computer class. The teacher, mr fuentes called this girl a fake fan and she got all upset, saying her family and all were from Louisiana. I think about that memory every 5 years or for absolutely no reason
After watching Dennis Allen’s failure of a second season as our coach I had to come back here for my own sanity just to remember there was a Super Bowl caliber saints team I miss these days wish I had a Time Machine 😢
You don't have a QB. Sean Payton in Denver doesn't have one either. It's just REALLY hard to find QBs who can read NFL defenses in 2.5 seconds. Brees was a lucky revelation, since as a Charger he was as inconsistent as Derek Carr's Raider years.
I remember Jacobs saying how guys are soft, they dont want to get hit. He said he rather get hit in the jaw cuz he tried of getting hit in his legs. Well he got what he wanted @ 10:36.
If ESPN has 'fallen' who has replaced ESPN? As if they weren't getting the same amount of hate and vitriol back then. Every fan base despises them, the difference back then is maybe your fave team (saints?) was getting a lot of coverage. They ALWAYS had competition on the web, in opinion, podcasts and coverage, 14 years later the competition has matured. If an analyst Says anything truthful about any team's weakpoints; pick that team to not win, that fan base unsubscribes, drags it on social media. Ive seen it 100 times with PFF and the old Footballoutsiders crew. 2/3's of fans just want to hear their team is awesome, and will totally win this sunday.
That saints vikes was best football game I ever watched then was the pitt cards SB was #2 after saints game Was a great game ( Bret Farve gave everything he had to that team )
Watching this and how much it means to even win 1 Superbowl makes you think "Damn....what must Tom Brady feel like after winning SIX!!! And playing in NINE!! Just crazy
Brees: “It was amazing to experience that super bowl win with my son” Pat Mcafee: “I fucking hate that baby, I’m walking off the field and look up to the megatron one last time and see drew raising that dumb fucking baby”
They do not play great defense, lol. The reason Drew only has 1 ring is because of historical poor defenses. When they won the SB in 2009 they were in the mid 20s for total defense. the vast, vast majority teams win with top 10 or top 5 defenses. All of Montana's rings came from top 5 defenses. All but 1 or two of Brady's rings came from top 10 defenses. I couldn't imagine how many rings Brees would have if he had the team Montana had. It's sad, as I have no doubt he would have multiple rings
Its more like top 3 defense thats winning SB, spent time on Profootballreference. Its ALL of Brady's rings, 2001 it was improvement so the D was #1 by Jan. 03,04,14,16,18 always top 3.
You hear what he said about his predecessors in Denver? Holy crap that's spicy. He'd better win because he also piled on the Jets. Ive never seen a HC talk so much smack before a season and esp before a FIRST season.
When Gruden asked you think you can do it again and brees says absolutely I'm still waiting drew should already have 4 rings by now why cant we get over the hump we have a great team now!!!
The Saints need to get back to spreading the ball around to 10 different guys on a consecutive basis. I would take the 2009 offense over the 2011 offense any day. That 2011 offense was great but all defenses had to do was contain Graham and sproles. 2009 Offense was vintage Payton schematics, defenses had to worry about the offensive line,3/4 running backs,5 wide receivers,3 tight ends,2 full backs. I blame the organization& the wide receiver draft/free agent scouting department for not doing their job scouting a deep wide receiving core.
Good points..but they couldn't contain Jimmy or Sproles. Niners in 2011 were the SF version of the Legion of Boom; best D in the show, in their own barn, in the playoffs. And Drew scored TWO "game-winning" TD drives on them in the final 4 min (one Jimmy, one Sproles)..his only sin being he scored them too fast. Left the Niners with enough time to hit our D with the kill-shot. I think by 2011 the D just got figured out. They missed Sharper and weren't getting the TO's, but also all those GW blitzes were sniffed out and counteracted with 6 yard quick slants that would go to the house because we blitzed everybody. SO frustrating. I dont disagree with what you said, but just wanted to add that
@@sainters7 I think it’s a little bit of people don’t realize Vilma was injured in that game but still after being down 17 to nothing which makes me think of the Minneapolis miracle unfortunately all games that we somehow lost that we should’ve won. I thought my dad was gonna have a heart attack. He end up dying anyway, a few months later in August 2013 we had a chance to be a dynasty either by hook or crook we just didn’t get it done the 2018 team had it all around a great team they really were 13 and two and then didn’t need to play the last game and get screwed because he doesn’t have the balls to call up and say no that is clearly passing affair so we’re gonna have a Super Bowl tainted if we let the Rams get in there by being Rams, just moved it felt like it was made for them and that’s why nobody really watched that Super Bowl. Everybody knows we would’ve scored more than three points.. in my mind, it was away for them to keep punishing us, but Brees and Payton will always be remembered as one of the best coaching duos of all time
Agreed. I love Manning but the Saints were #1 offense 510 Points there's nothing the Colts were #1 in www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2009/index.htm
All these people claiming bounty gate don't know what happened it was a scam against people at that time the cte thing was coming to light and the saints were the fall guy do you really think putting a so called $1500 bounty for hurting someone would change the result of a game on someone making millions on the NFL had to make it look like they were doing something from people getting hurt when in reality they can give a shit about player safety
Ah fuck it man, own it; the players admitted it, there's a tape of Greg Williams talking attack the head, head, head. There was never any question it altered the game outcomes; but the NFL will be sued out of existence for not punishing a staff for encouraging injury and esp concussions. That's what everyone fails to understand about the helmet targeting, in America, employer liability is the SOLE REASON America's workers don't get mangled and killed like they did in the 1800's. Its also what made us superior to Communism; get mangled in Soviet Factory; too bad.
OWN it. Be an outlaw. We watch 1970's Raiders NFL Films over and over because of it. The darkness before the strikes and court cases.

Gruden should have stay an Analyst, maybe those emails would not get leaked.
true dude had a legendary voice on the mic
@@WalterWhiteFootballSharing The Gruden QB camp fooled Mark Davis in giving Jon Gruden a 10 year contract and player personnel power. Mark Davis drank the Jon Gruden kool-aid.
didn't he win 4 different division titles with 4 different quarterbacks he also didn't really have alot of good qbs did he?@@WalterWhiteFootballSharing
1:26 well that didn't age well
Correction: 22:14 Now THAT didn't age well.
4:45 Darren Sharper pretty good taste...for a convicted rapist in multiple states. MAN this video did not age well.
Steelers had a bounty system, vikes had it, everyone had it
When you watch the all 22 and the colts inexplicably stopped running man coverage the mind is instantly boggled the saints had 0 answers for it. So many ?s about that game
Amazing video
Fast Forward to 2020 Payton and Gruden arw gonna face each other week 2 😂
Who Dat from the OC in California.
Gone are the days of the onside kick. NFL cant leave the game alone. At least I am old enough to have had the luxury of watching the old game.
I really miss watching Gruden’s QB Camp
amazing intro song Coach Gruden
Can't wait to see all the "Bounty Gate" comments. As if nearly every NFL team didn't have the same system, including the Vikings.
Or like the Raiders, Eagles, Bears, Redskins etc didn't make a name knocking out and injuring players. It's a violent game, and if you're going to cry and complain about a game/season 11 years ago, for a system of violent hits that ALL teams participated in, you need to find a new sport. Consider tennis.
Instead, watch the breakdown of one of the best offensive systems of the 21st century, with one of the best TV football personalities of all time
Could you imagine Gruden doing this with Belicheck and Brady?
Snooze-fest..😴
Damn, I miss this show. Do you have any other full episodes of Gruden's QB camp?
Best year of my life
I used to think everything was brees but sean payton is the real one the won that super bowl
Look at the hits.I miss that.
Love the needless block in the back on Manning lmao.
1:15 Yep, and they were on their way to doing it again but the NFL screwed em out of it. And everyone knows it except for Falcan’ts fans.
Im glad Grudens back coaching but I miss him on takes like these.
Chucky is one of a kind
He's a way better TV personality then coach. He's an offensive coach, right? Tampa's best offensive year 02 was 15th place in scoring. I want him back on TV teaching me. Why can't the 2018-2019 Raiders put up the points of 2016?
Walter White they are rebuilding.. I’m pretty sure he brought the Bucs to the super bowl.
The thumbnail looked like Gruden was talking to Gruden
God hed never shut up lol
Here’s Gruden talking to Gruden....

00:52 the angel or devil in Sean ear doing a photo bomb.
Def enjoyed tearing people up. Bounties galore
☠And last weeks, MNF week 2 win over the saints was very important to our new Vegas locker room😈 #RaiderNation 💀
This was peak ESPN. Gruden is the best.
10:00 min in - These are two great guys!
Gruden?
So thats how gruden beat the saints
Bourbon Street? We shut the i10 down from Metarie to Kennah Bruh!!
I was in 8th grade and remember the conversations being held in computer class. The teacher, mr fuentes called this girl a fake fan and she got all upset, saying her family and all were from Louisiana. I think about that memory every 5 years or for absolutely no reason
Telling Gruden too much, hes gonna use all that against you, in which he did later this year they played.
See you in week2 ☠⚔☠RNFL
👀
Manny Flo who dat 🔥
The Autumn Wind is a pirate
Blustering in from sea,
With a rollicking song, he sweeps along,
Swaggering boisterously.
"Can you do this again"
Me in 2020, "Nope"
Top of the NFC right now baby who dat
ESPN when they ran the sports world…. Oh the mighty have fallen. This felt real and worth watching those clips of training camp felt different.
When he said they play great defense lmaoooooo
*inserts conceited meme*
Man I miss this espn layout
That saints vikes was best football game I ever watched then was the pitt cards SB was #2 after saints game
Was a great game ( Bret Farve gave everything he had to that team )
Eli G only to get fucker iver by cheating squad of douchebags
@@shlapleps3306 Favre admitted the Vikings also had a bounty system in his book. Sounds like Vikings were cheating too
@@BabyKnukleDustr give me the source and direct quote please
Fantastic. 🇺🇸🍀🇺🇸
Watching this and how much it means to even win 1 Superbowl makes you think "Damn....what must Tom Brady feel like after winning SIX!!! And playing in NINE!! Just crazy
Brees: “It was amazing to experience that super bowl win with my son”
Pat Mcafee: “I fucking hate that baby, I’m walking off the field and look up to the megatron one last time and see drew raising that dumb fucking baby”
Dude @13:39 was spitting game.
Welcome to Denver, Coach Payton.
You hear what he said about his predecessors in Denver? Holy crap that's spicy. He'd better win because he also piled on the Jets. Ive never seen a HC talk so much smack before a season and esp before a FIRST season.
back when espn was good
When Gruden asked you think you can do it again and brees says absolutely I'm still waiting drew should already have 4 rings by now why cant we get over the hump we have a great team now!!!
Blame defense not Brees. Saints average 20+ points per game with Brees in the playoffs
Everybody knows we would’ve scored more than three points.. in my mind, it was away for them to keep punishing us, but Brees and Payton will always be remembered as one of the best coaching duos of all time
13:12 He knew he was lying
Bengals fans stole the “who dey” chant from the Saints?😂 43:57
No
@@ReformedJerry I was clearly being sarcastic, the Bengals have been saying that since the 80’s.
When drew Brees had hair
I get mad every time I think ABOUT all the Saints playoff losses because of historically bad DEFENSES😡😡😡
11 years later and coach gruden beats peyton in vegas!
Drew Brees still adorable here.
is it coincidant that the saints won it in 09 (brees jersey #)
Even as a Saints fan... 22:08 FUCKING OOF
I’m not a Saints fan but this team was something else especially in the dome they beat the shit outta teams Brees was robbed of mvp
Agreed. I love Manning but the Saints were #1 offense 510 Points there's nothing the Colts were #1 in www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2009/index.htm
And despite the Saints defense being suspect, they forced a bunch of turnovers. And we’re second in that stat.
i always wondered what happened to the saints... now i know
And grudens playing payton week 2
Geaux Saints! WHO DAT!
The Vikings own the Saint's. Dat who.
Everyone since 2009
All these people claiming bounty gate don't know what happened it was a scam against people at that time the cte thing was coming to light and the saints were the fall guy do you really think putting a so called $1500 bounty for hurting someone would change the result of a game on someone making millions on the NFL had to make it look like they were doing something from people getting hurt when in reality they can give a shit about player safety
METAL HEAD keep crying boy.
Funniest thing to see your coach Payton doing the “SKOL” chant right before the Minnesota miracle
Before players were smart enough to think, holy shit they're letting Atkinson and Tatum permanently brain damage me for 50,000$ a year while owners split billions in revenue. The darkness before the strikes and court cases.
Walter White the saints did put bounties on people but it’s ridiculous that they were punished for it because other teams were doing it
@@WalterWhiteFootballSharing That's why I love the Raiders 😎
22:17 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😭😭😭😭😭😭
Damn lol calling his coach just Sean while playing is different
LOL Pass interference call in NFC chapionship Gruden: if I was coaching they wouldn't have called.
Sean Payton looks exactly the same
McNabb was out of the Sunday game for the Deadskins
Why they using black crows from Georgia. Should be playing Dr. John or pantera
Saints and their bounty program back in 2009 oh boy
And now year 2020 is the year drew brees finally retires it could of been another year but he got hurt against the 49ers sad year
gruden is sweating bullets
Until the following season....
Drew needs a haircut 😂😂😂 my guy tho 🐐
who dat
Kurt Warner walked in but didn't walk out #WHODAT
Gruden should go to Payton’s camp
Was little Brees 13 14 when Gruden ended up taking the Raiders GIG ?
That's Forsight
Brees was QB for Purdue in 1999-2000. One of the first single back spread offenses, won the Big10. Then QB of the Chargers for 4 years or so. You must be young.
@@WalterWhiteFootballSharing drew brees son , gruden said in vid he would get back to coaching when drew brees son was coming up but I did the math and he was 11 or 12 so was a couple years off of Jon's prediction
