    Good solid information
Pointing out the conundrum of perspective and scale.

Lol, when I first started shooting traditional equipment I never could wrap my head around aiming at a deer's knees to hit its heart! Then I watched a video segment on MBB3 by Larry Yien. He's a "West Coast gapper", or as Rod Jenkins calls it, "California Gapping"... placing the tip of the arrow in fractions below the intended point of impact instead of inches at the target. It's almost like looking at a picture. It just clicked for me and I've used it with pretty good success ever since...

This video is the best I’ve seen explaining this! Thank you

This is an extremely helpful video and explanation for me. I recently took up LB in addition to my BBR. I know how to string walk pretty well for barebow, but no clue how to gap for my LB and I've been just spraying arrows all over the place 😅 . Now I actually have a method to practice with my LB. Thank you!

I shot split (corner of mouth anchor) instinctive for years, but wasn't accurate past 25 yards. Switched to 3under (Olympic anchor) gap, and have noticed a HUGE increase in accuracy. Over time it seems my brain wants to continue shooting instinctive as I noticed Im starting to shoot where I look, just have arrow tip as reference. I've heard it called gapstinctive.

West coaster here. I visualize the target within the window. Near the top of the bow window is 5yds and point on 50yd. Middle of the bow window is 30yds. Not really using the 1/2”, 1/4”.. etc.

I shoot a 805 grain arrow at over 31 inches and my point on is 46 yards. Western is about the only way I can gap right

Good stuff Trevor. I've always shot an eastern style gap for my hunting setups, and your description is spot on!

Simple system for hunting, I found fixed crawl below nock for a 25 yd point on, everything from 5 - 20 holding 6" low. One gap to think about, range becomes irrelevant inside 25.

Trevor. What length do you recommend your arrow past your shelf to achieve this. I have 2” beyond the shelf at full draw.

I have shot 1.5" - 3" past just depends on how lite the arrow and where you want your point on. I try to optimize my trajectory across my effective range.

I've always shot pure instinctive, been looking at gap for my first ILF Bow. Only have an inch or so with full length Black Eagle arrows because of my Neanderthal draw length of 32"

I am no expert on that subject, search Joel Turner he is the thumb draw king for 3D and Hunting
