      The Internet enables to use services like Netflix if your TV is a smart TV.

    Hi does this mean ill get internet connection to say a fire stick that is connected to the tv as well or will i still need to relay on my temperamental WiFi connection

    • @home.network.solutions
      @home.network.solutions  Місяць тому

      Hi, no the firestick is not related to the TV in that sense. You can buy an Ethernet adapter for your Firestick and hard wire that as well though.

    I only have hdmi connection on back of tv. Is there an adapter so I can connect from hdmi to Ethernet on modem?

    • @home.network.solutions
      @home.network.solutions  5 місяців тому +1

      No I’m afraid not. The HDMI is for video and audio input not data. If there is no Ethernet socket it may be a WiFi only TV.

    I’m trying to use the Ethernet port from the wall that’s connected to my router but the tv won’t detect the Ethernet port. I’ve tried connecting my laptop off the same Ethernet port off the wall and it works but it doesn’t on my tv
    Edit: I just got another tv the first tv was a 65inch tcl tv and it didn’t work off the wall port so now I connected my 80 inch Samsung tv and it doesn’t read the Ethernet port as well. I don’t know what to do. I know it works through my Xbox, ps5, and laptop I don’t know why the tvs don’t work

      Could be that the Ethernet port needs enabling in the network settings of the TV. If it still doesn’t work check DHCP option is checked.

    Running 20mtrs of ethernet from my router in the house to TV in my pub shed.
    Still getting buffering for a few sconds every 30 seconds.
    On the back of the house router im getting a a green light and yellow light where its plugged in, but 2 green lights where the main ethernet connection is plugged in.
    Should i be getting 2 green lights.
    So fustrating, lease help.

    • @home.network.solutions
      @home.network.solutions  10 місяців тому

      The yellow likely signifies the TV has a 100mbps port (rather than gigabit) which is normal. If you are still getting buffering I would check the network settings on the TV to ensure the TV is using the cable and not the WiFi.

    Maybe dumb question- I have internet hooked up to each of my rooms with Ethernet cable coming out of the walls. Am I able to directly plug tv to wall Ethernet cable?? Or do I need a box?

    • @home.network.solutions
      @home.network.solutions  10 місяців тому

      You can use the wall cable provided it’s connected at the other end.

    So if I understand this correctly - my tv connects to router and router connects to modem which connects to incoming cable from provider?

    Hi I have done this and gone onto network settings on tv , it says it’s connected but not giving the option to put in my password???

      Hi Sarah, Ethernet connections do not need passwords, only WiFi needs a password.

    I’m trying to get basic channels to work, do I need to pay for them to work when connecting like this?

    • @home.network.solutions
      @home.network.solutions  11 місяців тому +1

      This just connects your smart TV to the internet. In the UK if you want basic TV channels you can either stream them through their apps or you can connect the TV to an aerial and watch them that way.

    I have ran an ethernet cable to my detached garage approx. 250 feet away from my house router. I would like to place a TV and a wireless security system in my garage as well. What would be your recommendation on how to provide a signal to both TV and security system?

    • @home.network.solutions
      @home.network.solutions  Рік тому +2

      You need an Network switch. Type 5 port unmanaged gigabit network switch into Amazon. TP-Link or Netgear are example brands.

      Check the settings in the TV you might need to tell it to use the Ethernet cable.

      I’m afraid so, unless you run a long cable or have one professionally installed.

      You could use a power line adapter. It would as slow as 100mbs. But that’s more then plenty of speed to watch 4k content.

      If the WiFi signal is weak the it may give a better picture to hardwire the TV.

      A cable is a more reliable and faster connection normally.

      Wi-fi should never be used for power hogs like smart tvs and PC engines. Wi-fi is and has always been designed for smaller and portable devices such as phones, laptops, tablets, smart watch etc.... if you are using wi-fi for your TV I suggest changing it to hardline. You will notice a quality difference almost immediately
