This was the progression of our 1947 Plymouth...bone stock with three-on-the-tree, flathead 6, with just brakes upgraded. Next time it raced a couple of years later... 3800 series II L67, T5, LSD, Crown Vic front subframe. It is hoot to shoot for the IoE than see how you can take the car after winning it.
Corona's of that vintage were very popular in Honolulu back in the day, but, because of the salt air environment in the islands they rusted like crazy. Some called them Toyota "Corroded" instead...
I love these no penalty lap cars knowing full well of a 99.99% chance of failure if you know anything about which cars are reliable & which ones will never be reliable
My Mom drove one about a thousand years ago. We got one with a bad engine and then ended up going down Broadway in New York city in a 1964 C30 hay hanging everywhere with a Toyota Corona on the back. This was the car that I was run over with.
Volkswagen W(anything) is extremely welcome in Lemons and we'll take an Audi 4.2L V8 happily for a swap in just about anything. They are EVERYWHERE in junkyards, make a ton of power, and also are complete nightmares to work on/work with.
79 Cadillac Seville is a firebird WS6 car under the skin, all the circle track parts in the world bolt to the chassis, of you could get a BMW motor to run, it would be a hella car to do it with, even 4 wheel disk brakes that you can super size to anything up to corvette brakes
I continue to believe, mes amis, that 2 1500cc VW, air-cooled engines in the front [cranks welded together] AND 2 likewise in the rear of this buggy, would cause it to...a...DOMINATE !!!
Only problem with the X5 V8 loophole is that engine barely will live in a soccer mom's car, well enough a race car. Good luck with that idea. Love the wacky combinations, but I don't know that cheap engines that need really expensive parts to be reliable are a good thing for Lemons.
I thought the point of lemons was for a cheap race? Some of these engines are prohibitively expensive that they are literally pointing a spot light at.
Ah for fucks sake now i want to live in america and drive a 1980 (would that still count for the loophole?) Olds regency and throw in a BMW 7 series diesel v8
“$500 my ass” is my favorite complaint because only a loser would say it. If you want to truly race competitively then go do SCCA or spec racing. For all you dumping cheaty $ into your Lemons car because you think this is real racing. ...I fart in your general direction. Get a life and go race with the serious people, learn how expensive and dangerous auto racing really is. Yes, I’m referring to Cevesa and the like. Lemons is about stupid fun!
This would be far better if the teams themself tokd the story, instead of these two clowns sitting there making the lousiest jokes and puns to pic's and clips presumeably 'loaned' from other channels and that means these two wasnt even there and filmed..?! Lets hope YT dont recomend this channel again so the mistake to click on these 'comedic geniuses' a third time, as twice was to much in one year 😠
The BMW V8 loophole is yet another reason I wish I had more money than sense.
twin turbo M5 V8 in a 70s Elcamino
Well, the obvious thing to do is to get a '74 Dodge Monaco and make the Bluesmobile.
UA-cam gave me an NHS covid info warning for this vid! haha
Same
Some BMW Mechanic is going to take you up on that loophole offer.
SHHHH. That's their plan all along.
And it will do 3 laps and explode, but it will still be hella sweet
@Donovan Piko lol, I love this shit.
Of course John Ficara would accept that challenge, he’s a madman.

You leave my uncles Corroded out of this!
THIS...is lemons in a nutshell.
Thats John Ficara’s team, he tells that story of the storm on Vinwiki. He’s a great story teller. Love the Lemons channel, keep up the great content.
Moral of the story don't learn poker from John Candy... have a great day everyone.
Olds toronado with mid engine m3 v8. If money was unlimited
that but you leave in the 455 up front so that way its AWD!!!
@@1964corvan ha that's an interesting idea. I noticed your name, I also have a corvair it's a 63 monza
If you don't stuff an M3 V8 into a '72 Impala, are you even trying?
Hey does that BMW engine loophole extend to the DIESEL blocks? And does Lemons have any qualms about emissions bullshit? Asking for a friend...
I love these no penalty lap cars knowing full well of a 99.99% chance of failure if you know anything about which cars are reliable & which ones will never be reliable
Dammit, I wish I still had my 1979 Buick Century.

Ok... what about the 6 cyl turbo diesel from a X5d or a 335d into the 70s Detroit built sedan?
Lemons Loopholes all fall into the category of "That's an awesome idea, YOU should totally do that".
Suggested loophole: VW/Audi v6 or V8 in a Mk3 or earlier Golf. Mid-engine.
Even better: W12
Volkswagen W(anything) is extremely welcome in Lemons and we'll take an Audi 4.2L V8 happily for a swap in just about anything. They are EVERYWHERE in junkyards, make a ton of power, and also are complete nightmares to work on/work with.
@@ericrood510 That's why mid-engine. Think of all that access! 😂
one day there will be a loophole where a Ferrari v12 engine is permitted only when it's put in a Honda crx.

Yeah, but you gotta bolt a damn BMW V8 in it. When those break at 50k miles, it's cheaper to replace the engine than it is to repair.
John Facraa told this story on VinWiki btw
76 ltds are awesome. My uncle had one as a yellow cab and then kept it when it was retired
omg bmw v8 into a Eldorado doo ittttt….
BMW 3 liter diesel from a X5 or 335d into a 70s sedan fall into that exemption also?
Are 80s cars like a Cadillac brougham or olds wagon ok to?
Hell yeah, John Ficara!
Oooo 70's sled car + bmw v8 = greatness.
This truth can be universally felt.
I owned a Toyo Corona 50 years before it went viral...
what if I bring a Lada Samara to Lemons? or just... any 80s Lada?
those are welcomed with open arms. lemons LOVES a la-di-da!
500 dollars my ass. The lemon slogan. Funny stuff when you talk how folks try to bend the hell out of the regs.😁
The BMW engine wire harness alone is a nightmare.
I continue to believe, mes amis, that 2 1500cc VW, air-cooled engines in the front [cranks welded together] AND 2 likewise in the rear of this buggy, would cause it to...a...DOMINATE !!!
RPF1 wheels?! 500 dollars my ass! Hahaha, great build lads!
They look good though.
dadaluma - Yea they do! I just wanted to be funny...
Tires, wheels, brakes, steering, and safety don't count toward the $500, I believe.
What if we cut the middle of the body out like the Missing Linc?
I love the COVID-19 warning on this video because there is a Toyota Corona in it. UA-cam is so stupid....

How about a rule that says any car can be bought for $500 at the end of the race.
Claimers!
We need a loophole for all the overpowered engines
Has to be in a Yugo
oh no you got the blue banner
Triumph spitfire/V6 camry engine
An E90 M3 swapped Continental would a be boss.
My idea for a lemons loophole
STI parts in a suburu baja
Make it happen
How about the BMW V12....
I thought the point of lemons was for a cheap race? Some of these engines are prohibitively expensive that they are literally pointing a spot light at.
AUDIOJUNGLE
It's beautiful...
Ah for fucks sake now i want to live in america and drive a 1980 (would that still count for the loophole?) Olds regency and throw in a BMW 7 series diesel v8
150
can 16 year olds run in this race?
Yeah, they can. But all drivers must have a valid and current street license, which effectively makes the minimum age 16 in most states.
78 nova count
Ohhh well said. scca racers... not welcome here, you raced your sense of safety and humor away.
It had to look Supra Awesome? 😁
2nd gen Supra..
76 Plymouth Volare, with that bad mamajama m5, Ohhh that makes me feel all MAGA.
A gibbering orange ignoramus isn't the feeling an M5 V8 gives me, but ok
