When Erica showed up for the 3rd time in this video, it made my day. By then she showed up a 4th and 5th time, HFS! I was practically yelling and my screen that you bastards better give her an award.
The whole Sierra College team has some great folks that fit into the Lemons vibe nicely, Erica is a great example. My understanding that Team Notta Miata will not be at the May 2024 Thunderhill race but the Erica and others welders from the college will be on site to help out. Also a shout out too Phil and Roy the two professors from Sierra that have been supportive with getting this going.
Yeah unfortunately the club will not be racing lemon’s until November. Our spot on campus is undergoing renovation and we are beginning work on a second car that’ll be running lemons beside the 115 cooper. The club however will be out there to assist whenever people need help.
Had a bit of a crap week and the tale of Erica Snow's welding efforts warmed my shriveled little burnt-out software developer heart. Well-deserved IOE!
As always, the thing with an EV is *charging the damned thing.* Bring it to CMP, you won't get 400mi out of it. The closest plugs are at the new Hampton Inn in Camden (near I-20), but they're limited power L2 Telsa chargers. (the closest "fast" is 50kW at a state park 52mi away.) And the Electrica's "win" was with Chevy Volt batteries. The Florida Man Poker Run was done with BMW i3 batteries. [Update: Circle K in Lancaster has a / one / single 150kW fast charger. 22mi away. At least the Hampton Inn has a subway, mcdonalds, and waffle house near it.]
there's some new capacitive batteries in testing and development that are as long lasting but are very quick to charge. just a matter of reliability testing and making sure the current infrastructure can actually charge em. it's gonna be really neat in the next few years with that tech getting more refined.
I'm the Bolt guy from the video. The best Lemons track for EVs is probably NCM (National Corvette Museum), where the fast-charger is less than 2 miles from the track. Hoping to drive the Bolt in Lemons there someday. Also, for places without EV plugs, an other option is to flat-tow the Bolt while using regenerative braking to recharge the batteries.
If Ms Erica hasn't already gotten a welder, I will step up on 1 condition - stop crushing the Vega in yer outro. My long dead Dad had 1, etc. Reply with email here, I'll be checking....
and leave it to the tesla engineer to ignore all rules and regulations and just run some bullshit anyway lmfao talk about living up to the company culture
i got my first leatherman at my first duty station in 1999, had that for years until my ex took it. haven't been able to afford one since, and it makes me sad, i really want one!
Lemons needs to create an honorary award named the Erica Snow award for most helpful paddock racer for every race. And have Miller Welds sponsor it!
Erica Snow is the hero America didn't know it needed.
