  • This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. #Buycott: What Jeff Goldblum, dinosaurs and a blackout can teach us about ending human trafficking. We can relegate human trafficking - in all its forms.
Jesse Bach believes in freedom and small, consistent changes to build a freer world. As the executive director of the Imagine Foundation, Bach has dedicated his life to ending human trafficking. Bach is currently in the process of earning his doctoral degree from Cleveland State University in urban education, studying the systems and processes of human trafficking.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Current Dr. Bach is my engineering teacher in 2019, I was not to fond of him and always thought he had something on his mind that he wanted to forget...after seeing this it made me tear up a little and made me realise I should put forth more effort towards school...I want to thank Dr. Bach for teaching me many things and inspiring thousands of students and adults around the globe

It's great to see The Imagine Foundation's Jesse is still working to help end human trafficking. There is no way you could guess who I am, but I was following your progress a few years ago, and I'm so happy to see you're still committed to this cause. Keep up the great work. It's amazing you're on a TEDx event.

"Small changes magnify and they can turn into huge results." What a profound statement that can truly be applied to just about any aspect of the human condition. Thank you for a great presentation!

I always get so excited to see men advocate for the Nordic Model of prostitution in efforts to abolish trafficking, and then am inevitably disappointed when I see them skirt around the issue, never challenging the johns who are the demand for the 20-40 million trafficked women and girls globally.

The Buycott strategy seems to be working for vegans and animal anti cruelty groups. Plant based milk and meats are becoming mainstream. And in the fashion industry realistic looking fake fur and leather is very popular. Even lab created diamonds are becoming more acceptable to consumers. So maybe buycotting can become a small step in the right direction. Hopefully this small step will have a snowball effect to help stop human trafficking Forever!
