@@susanstandleystitchintimeYes, I’ve been keeping up so far and enjoying every step of the process. I’m scheduled for cataract surgery this Monday & the following Monday which may necessitate a brief break in stitching - but the results should be worth it! I’ve already sent you a photo for the drawing!

Hi Susan, I'm ready to make my quilt sandwich (thank you for all the tutorials to get me to this point and beyond!) and I'm trying to select a backing fabric. I have something that is in the style of ticking, (not in thickness) and because I have a good size piece and not just scraps like the rest of the quilt I was considering using it. Was that something that would have been around for Mary to use in 1840? Thanks so much!

@@susanstandleystitchintime Thank you for this speedy reply! I haven't lost hope or discouraged, but I wanted to finish the doll quilt before I begin your EPP story and tutorials.

Thank you for another thorough lesson! I’m still deciding which fabrics to use (and working up the nerve/ confidence) before starting. Is there a reason you used linen thread for this step? I watched twice but didn’t seem to catch it. I have several random silk threads I’ve bought the last few years that weren’t quite what I expected for embroidery, and wondered if I could repurpose them for basting.

Such an excellent question!!!! We are trying to approximate the experience of 1840 stitchers. Linen and silk are the threads they would have had available to use, Linen would have been less costly than the silk. Stitchers in 1840 wouldn’t have wasted the silk on basting since it’s going to be cut out and thrown away after the Quilting is finished. Thank you so much for asking and I will be sure to mention this in my FlossTube or another tutorial as I’m sure other people have the same question.
You can do it I have full confidence in you. Please let me know if you have any other questions or if you need more encouragement to get started!!!!
