Nice compact system you have and it was a great demo. That will be dandy to take to a party. Welcome to the kegging world. It is so much fun and convenient. Easier to keg than bottle and less to clean up too. I know you will enjoy this........Take care, Bluefin.
Thanks mate. I only do half batches so the left over beer is manageable to bottle. I still have nightmares when I used to bottle 23 L batches. Thank for stopping by. Cheers Dino 🍻
Thanks Chris. I can see me needing to fill it up fairly often already haha. The other half of the beer is in bottles so I might have to alternate. Cheers
Thanks Jimbo. It's going to come in very handy over Summer and for when people come round. The trick will be keeping it stocked haha. I do have some in bottles as well though. Cheers
Looks like a cracking system Dino and what I really like about it is the portability which would be perfect for taking round to a party or friends house. Top demo mate 👍🍺
Thanks Dave. Really happy with it and relieved I didn't screw up my first pour on camera. Haha. Yes, I'll be looking forward to bringing this out when we have friends around. Cheers mate 🍻
Thanks. Haha. Finally made a small step until I can get something bigger, but this will be useful to bring out of the fridge when people come round. Thanks for the tip on keeping it at 5psi. Cheers!
I was actually considering doing the same thing, I'm gonna order a 5lt ikegger, I'm going to be brewing a 'triple-x creamy chocolate stout' from beer belly here in south aus, its a part steep part extract using gladfield dark chocolate malted grain among others, coopers original stout and dark liquid malt extract, using around 40g of magnum hops in the boil and saf ale S04 yeast, I will bottle the rest but would be awesome having a little keg of stout in my kitchen fridge, I don't have a shed/garage/man cave so it'll be in the kitchen. Cheers 👍👍👍🍻🍻🍻
Nice one. I'm the same as you. I'm using a fridge that's used for other things, so I can fit this in without having to buy another fridge. I did have to remove a shelf because of the height, but it doesn't really take up too much space. I also bottle my excess, so I have the best of both worlds. It is great being able to open the fridge and pour off a glass. The Stout you're making sounds great too. Cheers 🍻 definitely look to get a sodastream adapter to do the bulk of the carbonation though, otherwise you'll chew through those smaller bulbs. They are really just good for dispensing beer that's already carbed and for maintaining pressure.
2 questions: 1/ is the co2 Carthage enough for these 5l? What’s the co2 consumption like? 2/ the co2 carbonates the beer or just keeps it not to go flat if previously carbonated with sugar?
Hi. I carbonate the beer from scratch with the larger sodastream bottle. If I'm leaving it in the fridge I tend to leave the larger sodastream attached for serving too. I find the smaller bulbs are really best for serving only once the beer is already carbonated. You could carbonate the beer with the small bulbs, but you'd probably go through a few. As far as the larger cylinder. I'm not 100% sure how many 5L kegs you could carbonate and serve, but I'm guessing at least 3-4. Hope this helps.
No problem. There shouldn't really be any difference once the sugar is consumed by the yeast . You will end up with more yeast sediment if you use sugar. That's about the only difference I can think of. Cheers
Hi Dino. Just got one of these kegs after watching the vid. Gotta a couple questions: 1. When carbonating the brew with sodastream, do you still have the regulator on? 2. I love my stouts. I’ve got on conditioning in the mini keg and have been lightly carbonating it. I want to serve it nitro so do I just swap out the co2 and empty a couple bulbs of nitro? Then do I reconnect the co2 to serve?? Thanks. Love the channel.
Thanks Hugh. I'm still enjoying my keg. When carbonating the keg, I tend to turn the pressure up to 20-25 psi, turn off the regulator, then when it drops to about 15psi, I'll turn it back up to 20-25psi again and repeat until it stays stable at 15psi. I could just leave the regulator on, but I'm paranoid about any gas leaks. So I find this method works well for me. Then when I pour a beer, I'll just return the pressure to 15psi and turn off the regulator until the next time I pour a beer. On the nitro, sorry I don't have any experience with that at all. I think you need to buy the nitro tap, and attach a nitro bulb. I found this on YT which might help. Thanks again for following the channel. It's much appreciated. Cheers Dino ua-cam.com/video/kYjFZaeQL5A/v-deo.html
Dino! It's been a long time! So I'm looking at getting back into brewing again, and contemplating begging. I just can't justify going the whole hog into full size kegs and kegerators etc, so have been thinking about mini kegs. This 5L one looks great. You did this vid 3 years ago - what are your thoughts on them over this time? 5L big enough or would it make sense to go up to 10L? Cheers mate.
Hey mate. Good to hear from you! I'm mainly doing small batches, so these smaller kegs work out great for me and I can put them into a normal fridge and still have a shelf in there for storing other beers etc. I've also added a 9.5L kegland keg. In hindsight because the 9.5L keg is quite squat, I'd probably get 2 x 9.5L kegs if I was to start again. This 5l is good, but it doesn't take up much less room height wise than the 9.5L kegland. I'll put up a photo post on UA-cam of the two kegs together. Cheers mate
Nice 1 Dino, the beer pours nicely from these set ups I also have one here at home 😎 pretty cool to as like you say it will fit in the fridge, cheers Mate enjoy yr new set up! 🍻🍻 Mike
To be honest I don't often use them. Only if I'm serving out of the fridge and don't want the main sodastream bottle attached. The little bulbs are really just for dispensing once the beer is already fully carbed by the larger sodastream bottle. One bulb should be enough to serve most of one keg. Sorry not an exact answer.
Hi again. I contacted iKegger on your behalf and they came back with this link for you. Hope this helps. Cheers - www.ikegger.com/products/soda-stream-adapter-for-professional-mini-regulator?_pos=1&_sid=c224545d6&_ss=r&variant=42551164878
Thanks. Not sure where you're based, but ikegger have sites based in Australia, New Zealand and Europe. If you take a look in the video description I've put some links to the different sites. Hope this helps. Cheers
How long are you carbing it up for? Recently I have been carbing up for about a week at 25psi until it equalises at about 15psi and then serving at around 7psi.
@@theultimatefreak17 correct. If the pressure continues to drop that means the liquid is still absorbing co2. 15psi is just my personal preference for storing pressure. Other people prefer lower, say 10- 12psi. Also depends on the style of beer. Cheers

Those will also work on a 5 gallon corny keg that has ball lock fittings if you are interested in expanding. These mini kegs are awesome. Cheers 🍻
That's good to know. I'm sure at some stage I'll upgrade. Cheers Rick
This has been a fantastic video. Taught me heaps thanku
No problem at all. I'm glad you found it interesting. Cheers
Wow what a great little keg. Nice looking brew as well. 🇳🇿
Thanks mate. Very happy with it. I can see me getting another already haha. Cheers

Nice little kit bud seems to work a treat , nice little addition to the brewery. Cheer nice TShirt .
Am really pleased I pulled the trigger on getting one. Nice to have some beer on keg. Cheers mate
I've seen those mini kegs at the homebrew shop. A nice bit of kit. Enjoy mate. Cheers
Thanks. It's taken me a while to get round to buying one, but I'm really pleased I did. Hoping this is the start of my kegging journey. Cheers mate 🍻
I'm going to be in the market for a setup like this pretty soon. Really cool. Cheers!
Thanks Skid. It's a good little keg. They come in a range of sizes. Cheers

Dino kegs!!! Congrats mate!! If you're doing a session, leave it on 5psi, then put it back up when you're done. Otherwise you'll waste co2

I guess it is kinda off topic but do anybody know of a good place to stream newly released movies online?

I am using mine for storage, i am filling it up myself with budweiser, but when i pour i am getting too much froth any recommendations?
Any thoughts on where to find the Adapter for the Sodastream in the US
Sorry. I can't find anything obvious. I'll do a bit of digging and get back to you if I find out anything.

Yeah something I’ll be looking into soonish once I get back into brewing once we find a house to buy good video Dino cheers 🍻
It's a great piece of kit. I didn't realise you weren't currently able to brew. I hope you find a house soon! Cheers mate
Nice one welcome to kegging its a curse for some reason my kegs empty fast and my waistline grows
Thanks mate. Haha maybe keeping it small scale might not be a bad thing after all. Cheers
@@tubedinoz thats exactly what i said withen a year i had 4 kegs
Haha. I really am limited in space so that's the only thing keeping me under control

Haha. Great point! Cheers 🍻
