    So glad I came across this video. Cause I was thinking am I really gonna spend money on this metal box. Nice save.
    The only thing I think I like with the square keg, is that in my fridge I can store things on top of it. It seems more…I don’t know, space friendly, than the round keg.
    But I think I can get over that for over $100 bucks in savings.

    New to your channel and loving your videos! Question...I am curious about the Pinter 3 home brew kit, Would this be a really good idea to pair up with the Pinter? to pour the Pinter Home Brew into once it has finished brewing? or does the Pinter 3 pretty much do the same thing in a way? Thanks

    • @HopsAndBrews
      @HopsAndBrews  3 місяці тому +1

      I'm not familiar with the Pinter Home Brew system. But from looking at it and just doing a quick research. No I don't like that system. it appears to be a all in one system where you just add water and the bag of malt (which has the hop flavor added to it). these beer they offer too are probably very low abv. this system also means the yeast sediment is on the bottom of the tank. looks like a fun first home brew project but really for the same price you can get the bigger equipment. There was a system called the Pico Brew System I always wanted to try out. but that's around 250$.
      but for your question. yes you could transfer that beer into the system I built in the video. you could literally put anything you wanted. that's the beauty of it.

    You will have to assemble 2 of that size which give or take will cost the same as the square keg. I did see an add for the SK on holiday special for 200.00 which effectively is cheaper then two of these set ups. Making one tho is pretty cool. But from a cost standpoint and esthetics standpoint I’d probably just buy the SK. Merry Christmas !

    • @HopsAndBrews

      Incorrect, to match the size of the square keg is only $10 more for the larger size container. They have 4 different sizes and each are only $10 more for each additional size. And buying 2 individual ones is cheaper than one, thus allowing for 2 different style of drinks. Plus you can just buy 1 co2 connector and tap and just swap it out cutting cost even more. Cant do that on a square keg

    While it is cheaper the top part is bulky does take up space. So in order to take it somewhere or you have to take it apart and put it back together. Yes it only takes a few seconds but let's be honest and think about it. Let's say your relaxing at home and you want a beer on tap so what do you do? You can go to the kitchen, take the growler out, go to the kitchen drawer,find the spout, put the spout on, screw the CO2 cartridge on and then you can pour yourself a beer on tap. Or if you take it somewhere like a gathering or tailgate party. There's always gonna be a moment where you forget to bring a part for the thing to work.The convenience of not having to assemble it every time I want it to use versus having a square design which is longer but, smaller allows to keep those attachments on the whole time.

    • @HopsAndBrews
      @HopsAndBrews  3 місяці тому

      I dont think you understand how the square one works.... You have to do the exact same thing to the square keg. You still have to put in a co2 carriage, (however on both, once you do that you dont have to take it off till you are empty. Also All you have to do is actually find a different handle for mine (which I did for $5) and it fits in my fridge just fine. Also are you saying that the convenience for a 1 sec longer time frame of getting your beer is worth over 2x in price? If you spent the exact same amount of money on a SquareKeg as the option I present, you would be able to have 2 kegs, and enough money to buy beverages to fill both of them up. The only option the Square keg gives you is slightly different storage options...but is that really worth over 2x in price?

      Obviously since you said "You lost me" I will assume you didn't finish the video where I said you can take thia exact same setup and increase the size of it by only $10. So in the video I have the 64oz version. If you wanted the larger one, it's only $10 more (matching the size of the square keg), and if you want to double the size of the that it would only be another $10. And it not fitting in a cooler or mini fridge I beg to differ bc I have done so with my round one. On top of that you can also just take to tap off to shut the cooler. If you look at the square keg, they changed the handle size (extra cost) to lower its hight, something you can also do on my for $7. So I really the only thing you can complain about is style. But is that really worth OVER DOUBLE THE PRICE ?

  • @Danny5401

    The whole point of the squarekeg is that you conveniently have a way to store and dispense a gallon of your preferred beverage in your fridge, in a way that doesn’t take up a whole lot of space. The contraption you created looks much more bulky and is only half the capacity of squarekeg, if you were to use a 128oz keg it would be even bulkier and less of a savings. You’re paying for the convenience which is the appeal of squarekeg.

    • @HopsAndBrews
      @HopsAndBrews  Місяць тому

      wrong. it's only $10 more for the 128oz so at that point would be exactly half the price of the square keg. And not the square keg promotes more about it being portable or using it at parties and bbqs outside. which this one does better because it comes with built in handles (square keg make you buy a case) also mine (and the 1 gal ver) fit just fine on the side of my door where a 2 liter of soda would go. I just put the party tap on instead of the handle style. so for I can buy 2 1 gal systems and have more drink styles for my evens. or keep one in my fridge and one for on the go and still be cheaper than 1 square keg.

      @HopsAndBrews  Місяць тому

      @@Danny5401 I disagree, one the company itself doesn't simply advertise this as a beer/beverage containing system for your fridge, they advertise it as a On The Go, Keeps Things Fresh and large amounts of it. "Ulta Convenient" their website says. I'm saying for the price of $280 the Ultra Convenient is a rip off. Because its only convenient in 1 area and thats putting it on your fridge Shelf. However you cant put it on the door (like mine) So I'm gonna say thats a wash. The squarkeg is so LOW that when you take it places it has to sit a the edge of a table/counter/icebox to be used bc the glass is taller than the keg, NOT MINE. Theirs is really hard to clean and cant even see all the way to the back, which could lead to bacteria (depending on the type of beverage you made) NOT MINE, you can see 100% of the surface inside the keg. Portability, well square keg makes you buy a carrying case...NOT MINE, built in handles. I can keep going if you want.
      My point is, that there is this 1 tiny, possible (one could say advantage, I say difference) and thats it can fit in a shelf. However the people who can afford a almost $300 beverage contain probably have money and would make me think....probably 2nd fridge in garage. Where as the tailgater, the ave. joe would rather spend more than half the amount and get 95% of the exact same experience and could go buy a 2nd one to have 2 types of drinks (or upgrade to the 1 gal size) and still have money for the beverages to fill both of my versions up.
