Nice...I just picked up the 1/2" flex head off Amazon for about 31 bucks on sale. Couldn't find a Gear Wrench 120XP comfort grip flex head in this size. Saw a vid where someone took their's apart and the pawls are actually over and under rather than side to side.
I have Snap-on ratchets they dual 80s. And at the time when the came out the were amazing, not much else on the market to compare. But alot of manufacturers have have now caught up. Gearwrench ratchets especially, like the 120xp. I have some of them, excellent ratchets. Very smooth gear light brack drag very cheap compared to you're Snap-on or any other big name brands. I know a few heavy diesel mechanics that use them. One has had his set for 8 years now only had to rebuild the 1/4 once. The chrome is Peeling of them. I highly recommend them.
The pawls aren't actually beside each other. They're stacked on top of each other. (Front-to-back, in essence.) I have a Husky 100-position ratchet that functions in the same way, but with a 50-tooth anvil and dual stacked pawls. I like the design, because it gives you both function and strength. I went with a the Husky over the Gearwrench because I wanted a locking flex head and Gearwrench unfortunately still doesn't make one in 120xp. Great video!
3 to 4 Hundred would be just starting. 1/4 80 teeth flex is $140, 3/8 is $170, and 1/2 is $230. I have a few Matcos 88 and even this set of GearWreanch ratchets but those have broken before and I end up with the snap on. Matco 88 seems the least forgiving with too much force but it's my favorite one.
I have a j h Williams ratchet from the 1940s that had the original patent of the dual pawl design. The handle is bent from someone using a cheater pipe on it back in the day, but the ratcheting mechanism still works great.
Has anyone had their hands on the new 90 tooth gearwrench ratchet? They have a lot on their flex head and also the same way this holds a position. The 120xp seem stronger in that sense, Am I correct?
I have both Snap On and Gearwrench ratchets. The 120xp is a superior design to the Dual 80, the Snap On ratchet is superior in quality. I could only wish for a Snap On 120xp 😂
How smooth they are ? That's my only requirement as I only do light duty fine work. Yesterday I ordered the 1/4 and the 3/8 flex 120P ratchet from Amazon Ca. For an unknown reason I paid $44.91 Canadian dollars for the 1/4 inch and ONLY $17.89 Canadian dollars for the 3/8 inch ? That only $47.00 U.S.D. for both ! -:)
In my opinion they are pretty smooth. I haven't used a whole lot of different ratchets, but out of the ones I have used these are definitely my favorite ones. I think you will like them. That's not a bad price at all.
@ike fun Quick Disconnect on 1/4 drive rachets for me is a godsend. When you're working outside and your fingers are freezing, its a pain to pull a small oily socket off your ratchet. I go both ways on 3/8 drive, I've used them both and don't find it too difficult to pull the slightly bigger sockets off.
@Mr Sunshines man you just can't keep your mouth shut.. You are a UA-cam troll. I bet you are the back yard mechanic following how to videos on here n told yourself you are ase tech!! Loser.
I've had my set for about two years and I beat on them every day and to this day they have never failed me and I mean Beat on them lol cheater pipe on flex head and all
I just bought my set on homedepot.com for $89 free shipping and my 1 3/8 snap on is $135 it the hard handle non flex head so im willing to try these out and im know they are better than my stanley and craftsman so thanks for your review
Hachi-Roku Performance Group how did you get them for that price? I looked them up and they were $112. www.homedepot.com/p/GearWrench-1-4-in-3-8-in-and-1-2-in-Drive-120XP-Flex-Handle-Ratchet-Set-4-Piece-81230P/302570338
jhitt79 honestly that was the price i ordered them a week later they canceled my order saying out of stock. Pissed me off and i got the 84 tooth set on sale on Amazon for $89
Hachi-Roku Performance Group please don't get me wrong, I wasn't challenging you, I just wanted to get a set. I've had my eye on them for awhile now. It's kinda funny I'm having this discussion right now because I literally just got done changing my niece's water pump on a '12 Kia Forte. Believe it or not, it's pretty tight in there! I was using a flex head 72 tooth ratchet and only getting about 3-4 clicks at a time on a couple bolts. Was really thinking how nice the 120s might be.
jhitt79 first flex head I've owed but i would wait till the go on sale or if you have a sears near buy check them as i get most my gearwrench from them as they are cheapest or tractor supply. Amazon seems to flex on prices weekly
Not sure, I don’t own the 84 tooth version of them. However I still have the ratchets and use them professionally everyday. They have held up very well.
I have a set of these on the way, and I can't wait!
The Gearwrench 120xp's ratchets are awesome! Excellent quality for a great price! Love them!

Just watched a different video comparison and Gear Wrench ratchet did better than snap on, especially the 120xp
Yes it did!!!!
The gearwrench has came along way. As a fellow mechanic & reviewer, you did good

Excellent review. Gonna pick up the 3/8 long handle flex head. 🔧
I have snap on in 1/4 and 3/8 but couldn't justify the 1/2 been £200 so I bought one of these from ebay 1/2 it's amazing.

Wow that's impressive!
I love Tools! Thanks for this! You got a Sub!!!

Someone needs to invent that! lol
People be sleeping on gearwrench I too have a new snap on dual 80 and I still prefer my 120xp Gearwrench Ratchets.
explain?

The only problem is the 3°instead of 4° from the 90t
Why don't the nicer ratchets have the quick release button on the top? I feel like I use that a lot on my current ratchets...
Quick release buttons make a ratchet weaker.

@Mr Sunshines wtf kind of a comment is that? You some internet tough guy? Stfu...

tooldiscounter has the set for $89
Is the flex head floppy or tight? Dose it lock into position?
It is indexed, not locking, but does hold it's position well.
I don't think backlash is what you are describing here.
Good info
These stronger than the 84 tooth counterpart yeah?
Not sure, I don’t own the 84 tooth version of them. However I still have the ratchets and use them professionally everyday. They have held up very well.
They are better than snap on
Seen these on amazon for $89
Just make sure they are the 120XP. GearWrench makes 80 or so tooth ratchets that look the same but cost less.
Wow can't go roung with that price I like it
Jose Soares wrong*
Yes you know what I mean
Old craftsman. Barf.
Just ordered these awesome review
