      @@ericosmond.official Oh yeah! I was NEVER daunted by the people who did not appreciate their talent. I can't understand why it wasn't as obvious to everybody as it was to me that the their talent was at the highest level you could possibly reach. I think The Osmonds Christmas album is one of the best Christmas albums I have ever heard. I have every album they have ever released. (My favorite is Love Me for a Reason.) At age 61(I'm Marie's age!), I can no longer be accused of loving their music because I'm a "teenybopper"! HaHa!! From the time I was a child until now I fully appreciate the tight harmonies & superb writing & arranging skills of these massively underappreciated vocal artists!! I am so blessed to have had their music be a huge part of my life. I have had disabling health problems since I was born, causing me a lifetime of severe pain and illness, but without the angelic voices of Alan, Wayne, Merril, Jay, Donny, Jimmy & Marie it would have been unbearable. I hope you will please tell them I said "Thank you from the bottom of my heart" and that I remain one of their original fans from the early 1970s!!! I love their music now as much as ever! And Marie is an inspiration to me!!! I mean, being the same age as she is, it gives me great hope that if she looks that amazing then I can too! LOL!! I don't look too bad for my age, but she is out-of-this-world gorgeous!! I would love to meet her (and Donny!) one day. Love & Blessings to all! Beverly XO9

      So much so, it's been covered extensively (and unselfconsciously, I might add) by many rock bands, although many aren't particularly well-known: The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, The Mission, Tank, Lawnmower Deth, Neal Morse, The Frames, KMFDM, Electric Six, Pretty Maids, Tigertailz, and Butcher Babies. Westlife covered the song live in 2003, and even performed the song alongside Donny Osmond.
      Pop Will Eat Itself sampled the record on their 1988 single "Def Con One". The song was also covered by Tigertailz on the 2010 live album "Bezerk: Live...Burnin' Fuel."
      The song was also covered by Mat Sinner on the solo album "Back to the Bullet 1990." Donny Osmond recorded a new version of the song as a hidden bonus track on his 2002 covers album "Somewhere in Time," and performs the song frequently on his tours.-------Wikipedia

      @bradsmack1 4 роки тому +3

      @Michael Lawless Interesting....and thanks for the info! I'll do a bit of a history dive, now, for my own curiosity! At the time they started, I was into all things power pop, and I know that they were considered at least on the edges, but I was more focused on Jellyfish, Teenage Fanclub, Parthenon Huxley, and a few others. I recall hearing Redd Kross, and again, recall seeing them (opening for J-fish, maybe?), but not really digging what they were doing, particularly. But, now, the archeological dig begins anew! Thanks again!

Don’t know who it was but we got to go backstage & I got Donny’s autograph & gave him a kiss on the cheek. Funny - I remember thinking that Donny looked tired!

    This was about ecology and way ahead of its time. The Osmonds are legends and Donny was on the keyboard Jay took the verses with Merrill then taking over. They were regulars on The Andy Willams when much younger than this where they had to learn routines every week, learnt how to play instruments in a week for the Andy Williams show the following week's episode learnt to ice skate so by the time they left were ready for another gear change recorded one bad apple and pop stardom took of, Donny made solo songs concerts with his brothers and later recorded with sister Marie and on 1974 they had their own variety show The Donny and Marie Show where they did sketches, musical numbers with various guest stars and at the start of the show would do a little routine on the ice after they sang their opening number so this family worked since they were kids. Walt Disney heard Alan, Wayne, Merrill and Jay were doing barber shop quartet duels with one of his groups and from their history was made.

    I'm sad it took me 2 years to find this!! Lifelong Osmond fan here, so glad to see people loving this. Merrill Osmond could've gone up against any of the great metal screamers of the day, Rob Halford, Bruce Dickinson, you name it. It's a shame they never got to make the music they really wanted to make. They also did some great Motown covers too. Now try "Hold Her Tight" from the same album. It's a major jam too. They had jumpsuits that Elvis would've been jealous of, & if you like their choreography you need to check out them doing "Yo Yo" on the Flip Wilson show, you can see the jumpsuits AND the awesome choreography.
