In a different interview, Spanky said he remembers seeing kids throughout his neighborhood going to school, however, he thought they were all going to different studios to film since that was all he knew. That's what life was like for him growing up in front of the camera for as far back as he could remember. I will always remember him saying that. RIP Spanky and the rest of the Our Gang cast.

When I was a kid I would get out of school and come home and watch the Little rascals on the VHS station I was a big fan. My mom met spanky in Long Beach CA back in 1979 she got his autograph but I don't know whatever happened to it.
Hal Roach was born in 1897 and lived 100 years! So he was 6 when the Wright brothers flew 20 when America entered WW1 and 44 when America entered WW2 and saw man land on the moon. What an amazing life.
That was too cool... Those kids were great, especially Spanky and Alfalfa. Those kids had so much personality and handled their roles like true pros. On the other hand, Sajak was a nutsack.
For me as a little kid growing up in the mid-to-late 90s I remember watching the 1994 version of The Little Rascals and it wasn't until when I was actually in elementary school during the early 2000's where I finally discovered the original and loved it just as much as the one that I grew up on.

Great clip. George's memory was faulty though, he was certainly not on the show for 13 years till 1944. It was 11 years till 1942. He wasn't on the last 2 years. Also, there were 221 Our Gang films. He completely discounted the silent era.

Agree. The host did not know how to show the video to camera he just looked at it. The Little Rascals from the 1930's are here on You Tube too. I watch some and they are really funny and a nice snap shot of life in the 1930's. Progressive too with "buckwheat" depicted is a normal American, part of the gang and attending a school that is not segregated, unlike some films with adult from that era.
There was a 101 year difference between my grandfather and my daughter. They both loved "The Little Rascals." Timeless

My grandmother worked for Hal Roach as a studio nanny. My mother used to goto the studio with her. And played with little rascal stars.
All the stuff my grandmother had, was a picture of a crowd scene, that showed my grandmother.

I love ' The Little Rascals ", I used to watch them all the time was I was a boy, a very funny show, once of the best TV series.

It was called Our Gang until Hal Roach sold the franchise to MGM. At that point they became The MGM Little Rascals.
