Great idea to make it more general and showing flanger behaviour. Does make it more interesting for those who don't have an Axe-FX

Yes you definitely need LT. Without guidance I could see doing a rabbit hole deep dive like Devin did but I would have never come across Devin had he not, so there's that. What I truly love are modern musicians Embracing the Digital age. JH's & Hillary Rosen's attitude in 90's saved nothing. Set an entire industry back a few Dark Age centuries in my book. Guys like LT are the future. Not a Radiohead "Fanboy" but they've proven it.

@@bluebetty7847 1000% agree - LT inspired me to pull the trigger on an FC12/AxeFxIII - nothing better!

More great info. Thank you Leon. And thanks for the little TC 1210 mention at the end. I've been obsessed with Rush in the weeks since we've lost Neil Peart, so that was of special interest to me since it was a big part of Alex Lifeson's sound.

Love the clean sounds at 4m40s and at 10m40s and the phase reverse is amazing on headphones

Leon love the videos, keep it up. Can you show us how to do EVH UNCHAINED flange w an auto filter that would kick on based on the lower string frequencies on that drop d?

Jake E. Lee plays an Ibanez FL9 Flanger so that must be it on "Bark At The Moon". Paul Gilbert had an Ibanez signature flanger called the Airplane Flanger very similar to his A/DA flanger with an extra switch and knob to make the "Take off" effect you made with your expression pedal or a dive bomb effect without a tremolo if you set the knob the other way! I'm one of the guys who doesn't own an Axe-Fx but I like the playing in your videos and learning a new trick here and there that I can apply to pedals, amps etc.

Hey Leon you should do a Chorus vs Flanger shootout maybe recreating the sounds on a couple of different classic songs because sometimes I'm not sure wich one to use.

The TC 1210 is a super confusing unit. It does say Flanger on it, and it does weird things with signal crossing left and right. It can be run in series or parallel, it contains a dry signal in it's mix. But it has a sound, so a parallel blend will keep your crystal clear dry and the 1210s wet effect will still be prominent. I had to look up other people's settings and choose a rate, haven't changed it since. For flanger effects the Eventides are equally confusing. They are often instrument level patches, so if you send a line level to them, get ready to be blown out of your chair. Again, a parallel mix send controlled with expression basically just lets a tiny bit of signal into it, and out comes this loud swishing sound. You nailed some good sounds with the Axe. I've always been after the sound of 'And The Cradle Will Rock' intro. The sound of all hell breaking loose. But it's my understanding, that's a keyboard. F'n Eddie. ;) Great topic! Thank you!!

Would you please do a Phasers special including the Ultra Super Mega Phaser? I'd like to see if the Axe Fx III can reproduce those weird sounds made by the Boss PH3 pedal...
Thanks for your videos. They're awesome.

That clean tone at 4:40 literally sounds like Alterbridge to me. Can't remember which song though! Sweet tone brother and great lesson. Question for your next Q and A perhaps: what's the difference between a flanger and a phaser?

Hi Leon how are you I know this is off topic a little bit but after watching you with the video with the boss OD 200 overdrive pedal I went and bought one but in the instruction manual it doesn’t clearly show me how to stack the overdrives via the buttons and I’m so frustrated is there anyway that you could help me thanks so much Tim from Ontario

Any suggestions for the "Through Zero flanger " sounds as used by Frank Marino or Jimi hendrix's Axis bold as love or "House burning down" YOUR AXE-FX II XL settings for this? You know... the old REAL TAPE flanger sweeps?

Just my personal preference, but I've never heard or used a flanger that I liked other than the mxr and then the evh version of the original. I had both and honestly the only difference was the noise created by the original.

Hi Sir I am back to learning about axe 2 X L + after been sick if I ask question which axe 2 video can I ask ?
The only questions I am going ask is about the basic parameters in amp block

  • @bluebetty7847

For the life of me, I have NO Idea what people are saying when they claim they can tell the difference between a modeled amp and the real thing. From an old video with crazy horse, I just dialed up the exact fender model Neil used on Hey hey my my & I'll be damned if the cover doesn't have the same exact tone ( both to my ears LIVE and a DI recording of the same guitar) I don't have the particular drive pedal he's using matched but it's EXACTLY the same. Awesome. Have a great week everyone and if you don't have one of these, you are without the single greatest tool ever created for a guitarist since the Strap.

Same here for me. I hear a song that I want to cover. Head on line to research the actual rig that was used. Head to my Ax III, dial up a preset with the right amp etc (so far every time I’ve found the amp model I need), and after a bit of tweaking - I’m there! Just blows me away.

Leon, have you put these examples on axechange? Also, that phase reverse trick works great on chorus effects. Learned that studying Eric Johnson's tone. Don't know he uses it but it is very pretty indeed.
