    Best Axe Master Sensei out there. Helps all us amateur plunkers who happen to like really good tones take advantage of such an awesome beast of hardware.

      In an tube amp, there’s a moment where the signal goes from clean to starting to have saturation, it’s been on the edge of the tube breaking up; it’s generally a clean tone that might be saturated when you play harder, or a clean tone with slight saturation. It’s called Edge of Breakup :)

    I like it when you can't really tell if the tone is clean or starting to distort. I've found that the Mesa Subway Blues model in the Fractal allows me to get into that zone very easily. The Blankenship Leeds amp model is also very good at this as well, in the Marshall school of amplification.

    Thank you so much! Another excellent video. I'm applying your advice to the Axe FX II, fwiw, and am using a Charvel Model 6 rather than a Strat, which definitely makes things sound a little different. Nevertheless, your tips on how to dial these amps in is much appreciated. I find myself really enjoying the 'matchbox', which is funny, because when I first auditioned it when I bought the Axe FX, I didn't understand it or like it at all.

    I may be a bit of a purest, but why use 2 x 12" speaker config when you are trying to emulate a Fender Tweed Deluxe which only has 1 x 12" speaker?
    Also, the hardest amp to emulate in my opinion is the Fender Tweed Champ, heard on multiple rock record in the 50's 60's and 70's...., The Faces, Doobies, Bad Finger, Stones, etc.
    Great job, though. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

    very nice video...nice tones..I am in favor for more of these , non high gain videos.....how about the double verb, can get very edgy with the right drive pedal...or not your cup of tea?

      The Deluxe is more my jam but the Twin is so good for glassy tones!

    Having a little trouble creating this preset. When I go to a new scene and switch amps, it end up overwriting all scenes with that amp. How do you create different scenes, each with a different amp all within the same preset?

    • @qq911
      @qq911 3 роки тому

      When you select a block, in this case an amp block, to the left you can see "CHANNEL > A B C D", see how Leon's channels change when he is on a different scene and amp? That's how you get different amps if you are using only 1 amp block. 1 amp block = 4 different amps (A B C D channels).

    Hi, I am saving my money for an Axe FX III but I honestly don't know much about tweaking settings and working through all the menu configs like you are doing. I can still just download presets that others have made correct or use the preloaded sounds that come with the Axe FX? I guess it can't be that hard to work this thing it just looks very intimidating is all. I am coming from a Scarlet Solo/Guitar Rig setup. Does the Axe FX work kind of the same way, just sounds 10x better.

    • @LeonTodd
      @LeonTodd  5 років тому +3

      There's hundreds of great factory presets and thousands more other users have created. 90% of the time i just use an amp model, a cab model and a delay and I get lost!

      @Sharppz15 5 років тому +1

      @@Sharppz15 Its probably a bit overkill if you are just going to use presets and have no real desire to deep dive.
      The axefx doesnt sound 10x better than modern vsts and vsts have a better update cycle/ are cheaper.
      I mean just checkout Neural DSP or Bias
      All the same advances that are available to Fractal are available to anyone else paying attention to research papers or with a penchant for DSP engineering.
      What it does do is allow you to have those sounds in a stable, gig ready platform with huge configuration/ modulation options, great I/O and delegating the processing to outboard gear instead of having your computer do it.
      I definitely wouldn't think of getting it just for sound quality even though it sounds great, there are cheaper options out there that sound almost as good or better. Kemper would be a good example of that. Sounds more accurate (at least with regards to amp simulation/ modelling) imho just with much less configurability.

    Just a (maybe) dumb question..real amps are ofter preferred for their dynamic and the axe-fx is maybe the best sim that can offer the same feel and dynamic, so..why do you want to compress your tone, especially in this kind of tone where you can be clean or dirty depending on how hard you pluck the strings? When I think about "edge of breakup tone", Andy Timmons comes to my mind and for example Electric Gipsy. So, if I think about compression in this kind of tone I think about post gain compression so I'm able to be dynamic gain wise and slightly compressed volume wise. And maybe is exactly what you did..what can you say to me? Thanks!

    • @LeonTodd

      Axe-III Output comp is my go to, which is precisely what you mentioned :)

    Boss I really enjoy your videos, You are very knowledgeable regarding guitar tones. I need your opinion about a beautiful slightly overdriven tone( you will be impressed with the slight breakup tone), I heard on a song. Please check out a Hindi film song "Saibo" in UA-cam, in the chorus section a guitar outro part used a slightly crunch tone, it is just impressive....
    What amp was used for that tone, I just cannot figure it out....?? Please advise. I think a tweed with some sort of warm fuzzy overdrive or A Dr. Z amp

    • @LeonTodd
      @LeonTodd  5 років тому

      You should be able to get that tone using a single coil equipped guitar into a tweed Deluxe style amp. A hint of compression would help too ;)
