- 12 civilizations and only one donut... Is there a need to say more? To survive among hyperactive volcanoes, floods, and tornadoes civilization surely must be strong. But to win despite all difficulties and failures, destroy every single opponent and throw their remains into Kilimanjaro’s crater? That's requires something more.
I return to my little hobby after this unreasonably long break, let's see if A.I. still can surprise us.
I used the latest version of Civilization VI: Gathering Storm with all other DLC & Expansion Packs for this battle. Domination victory only.

How Rome and the Aztecs are not the final 2 has me perplexed.
They have the best early dominance games.
If you ran the scenario a few times it's possible they would be victorious more often, but just because you have a better early game doesn't mean you'll win every time, or even most of the time. It just means you win more than average. It comes down to what you research, produce, who you fight, etc. So many factors and decisions that happen that are always different.

Inca does have a major advantage other the other Civs - the Mountians that box everyone in give them production, which led to them having way more production than anyone else in the game!

Makes sense that it ended with Incas and America. Incas get all those outer ring mountains for food and America probably gets their combat strength bonus on the whole island. Japan just didn't have a good enough start most likely.
As usual, AI are very bad in using Japan.

I had to rewind to see that I was so focused on Rome and they're on advancement that I didn't see Washington scurry across roman lands and destroy them

Whoever wins in science always wins the game. Once I saw Pachacuti with battleships, it was over
Yeah, science really is probably the most necessary thing I think. Everything is important, but science is king.
Domination? Well you need to research good troops. Plus relevant wonders and buildings to unlock. Can't fight nukes and death robots if you're still on Musketmen and Bombards.
Culture? Well you probably need a decent army if you don't want to be steamrolled at the very least. Plus wonders and buildings.
Religion? Same as culture.
Even civs that have no interest in combat and are somehow free of war, still need science if they want to get the best buldings, the best wonders, etc.

@@johnspence234 You should watch Potato McWhiskey videos. I've seen him win Deity-level games with culture and scientific victories with almost no army. It's all in the diplomacy.
It is even more extreme in Civ 5.
Civ 6 allows a cultural, religious or diplomatic victory without massive science. But it's obviously quite a gamble.
However in Civ 5 both the cultural and diplomatic victory rely heavily on getting a technology of the last row in the tech tree, so even if you don't get destroyed by a high tech civ, you most likely won't win with low science in 5.

AI can't play Legions strategically
Yeah and it didn’t help that America was kinda a vulture and was just taking really weak cities. I always hated that happening. I think that whoever did the most damage should get it or whoever has the most units in the cities area.

Aztecs attacked Japan, it had coastal combat bonus. Zulu didn't make corps, which he can do earlier than anyone else, huge combat strength increase plus two corps have less upkeep than four singular units, larger army. Rome... Rome just got unlucky and everyone dogpiled.

There was 5 favorits here due to the map. Inca, Japan, Australia, Rome and Zulu. Both Japan and Austrailia require some time before they are powerful and they had a bad starting location. Less ground than the rest and less expansion posibilities, so they where out of the favorite spotlight. Rome and Zulu both had a great position with easy peaceful prey close by. Inca is always strong on hill maps like this and had the very weak England close by to make use for, if they could get there before Zulu. I was at the assumtion that the one that capture either Netherland or/and England will be the winner.
Rome did a few mistakes that allowed USA to prosper, and letting them walk past their border to defeat the Netherlands was a huge costly mistake allowing USA to boom. The war against Inca was unessesary and resulted in a combined war that made them their game. Should have taken USA and Netherland as soon as Legions was out. Their mistakes allowed USA to take their position.
Zulu blowed up by going to war agianst Inca instead of going southwest and that ruined their game and allowed USA to prosper.
The timing of rough rider made short work of anyone left for the USA, but the technological advatage Inca had allowed them to win the last equal fight. USA wasted a lot of resources in the end by sending troops over water. If you simulate this scenario a few times I think Rome or Zulu will be the winner most of the times.
Bunch of powerful people making stupid mistakes that benefit the USA, but in the end they lose a war because they send armies over an ocean.

I think USA has to be considered a favourite on any small map like this as their home continent combat strength boost is a big advantage. Considering they survived until they unlocked their unique rough rider unit as well I thought they would win. If they hadn’t made so many poor decisions I think they would have!
Why is it always a Civ with no advantages that win these kinds of maps?
I guess the AI doesn't know how to play its own Civs.

Seemed like teddy had so much territory and units at one point, im not sure how he lost, the units just kept moving around doing nothing.

Anthony Rizzo that’s probably why. He stagnated on big units and became broke most likely. AI is really bad about making armies it can’t sustain
Anthony Rizzo At one point you can see Inca gets a distinct tech advantage, they start coming out with tanks and artillery when Teddy still has Bombard and Musketmen. That slight tech advantage made all the difference.

Spoilers, Rome made the mistake of letting Washington just travel through their territory to cause trouble for Amsterdam instead of focusing on finishing off the last one city power on the map.
wow I thought this was an old video. The comeback of America is... impressive. Rome could've easily wiped them out, but they decided to go on a war hiatus... Although america was retarded in the late game. He could've taken Ulundi easily, especially when it was damaged. He had the military advantage, and pachacuti had no army after the war with the Zulu
I was not expecting the ending simply because I thought it was a huge mistake to go for cities cut off from the rest of the territory.

When borders are spreading, foreign units go to the nearest available tile.

Netherlands nearly got destroyed at the start, afterwards they managed to best Japan, however soon after they were attacked by their niehbors, which allowed the US to take the land

As soon as I started the video, the map seemed unbalanced. Not really a problem if you're ok with that but the fact that only three civs have a river next to their capital is a little dumb.
Ironically the civ that won didn't even have that boost.
