- This is the opening for "The World Ends With You", an original Action RPG from Square Enix, initially released on the Nintendo DS, and now ported to iOS, under the name "The World Ends With You - Solo Remix -"
While I prefer the original version of the game the most, it's nice to finally be able to watch this opening in nice quality, and all in one screen. ENJOY! :D

Hey everyone!!! Thank you so much for sticking together. We did it! An anime adaptation AND a sequel. It’s insane! I never thought we’d see this IP (now, a full fledged series) get this much love, recognition and attention. It’s all thanks to us, the fans.

Don’t worry, I’ve already preordered it and I’m avoiding the demo so I can go In fresh. I’m so happy that I’ve discovered this series and I’m even more happy that it’s continuing (and extra happy that they’re making plushies of all the characters so I can add them to my collection)

A warning to anybody interested in playing this game: This is pretty much one of the greatest video games you will ever play. It has an unforgettable story, an amazing cast of characters, and an interesting battle system. However, when you inevitably play through the game again YOU WILL KICK YOURSELF ALMOST EVERY 5 SECONDS. That is all.
I'd say it's maybe better than KH... Until there's a Shibuya world.
I think it's a tie between kingdom hearts and the world ends with you.

Funny story: I found a copy of this game at a Game Stop in the mall, right? Along with a copy of 358/2 Days. Two games, and I had only one choice. I can easily see I made the better of two choices.
+RedLeif1 Just rebought it from an Amazon seller - brand new with the case and manuals. I'm looking forward to playing one of the best games on the DS again. (It would give me a break from Pokemon, seriously, been playing through Yellow and Black 2 again.)
The storyline was awesome, and so were the characters. I wanted to meet every single one of them...

Yes, make this happen, sure there are a few games that I want to be an anime. But none really feel like it SHOULD be an anime. It just has the feel and story that feels like one of the really good ones.

Yeah, there are all kinds of hints like that. Kitinaji capitalizing Joshua's pronouns, Sho being so fixated on Joshua, etc. Its one of those stories where you need to see it again knowing the twist.

I knew Tetsuya Nomura had something to do with this. I just KNEW IT! Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy were beautiful, I'm not surprised with how beautiful TWEWY turned out to be.

Namine Lockhart I believe that's the point. You only notice how much it told you upon replaying the game.
Namine Lockhart- I've never even heard of this game, and I was pretty sure the opening was like a quick lookthrough of the game's general plot and setup. Most anime openings give me that impression.

It's one of those intros that are subtle on it and wouldn't be noticed until seeing the whole story through, unlike a few particular Openings from Jojo's bizarre adventure..

Let's look past all the images that once you play the game, make a lot of sense.
Instead, we should focus on the fact that in his first appearance, Joshua not only established himself being different from the other partners by having multiple images, but that he also smiled directly into the 4th wall...
But to be fair... Similar things can be said about his first in-game apperance

One of the most underrated JRPGs I've ever played. This game needs more attention.

I love that about video game OPs myself. Being able to make sense of what seemed random at first. It adds up to that sense of accomplishment, I guess.
Nowadays this is so nostalgic, i remember being amazed by how much i loved seeing for the first time a few years back. It's good to see TWEWY getting more fans nowadays too!!

Brian Villarruel I think it's more or less that no one knows what anything in the intro means and end up forgetting about everything in the intro when players get to those points.

Totally agree. Lots of people gave SE crap for this game, but it's a good game as any, and it shows they're aware of this franchise's potential. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a sequel!

Well the anime does have the same composer in the games, so the chances of Twister being the opening is extremely likely.

I like how from 0:55 to 1:06 you see the partners in front of locations that connect to their specific quirks or arcs.
Shiki gets 104 because she’s a fashionista and 104 is the hub spot when it comes to stores and trends.
Beat gets the Miyashita Park Underpass because that’s where he and Rhyme died.
Joshua gets the top of Pork City because that’s where his week ends, with him and Neku taking on Sho. (Also because The Slime and for how he’s a total slimeball lmao)
Honestly I can't get enough of this opening, if it were an actual anime I would never skip it.

Would love an homage/adaptation of this OP for the first Anime OP
I know everyone in here is saying "If there's a TWEWY anime, this is the opening" and while I agree...I don't think you could just transpose this over to an anime. It would need to be a lot smoother with less jumping between still images and more...actual animation. That being said, a lot of the composition is already done, they would just need to turn most of this into an actual animation is all. And I think it could be done. And if it was? Oh man, I would love to see it.

This brings back so many memories for me! I got this game for the DS back in 2009 but I lost the cartridge when we had to move. So a few years later I saw it at a local Gamestop and bought it used. I remember spending literal days trying to beat the game (no pun intended). I bought the sequel a few months ago and finished that too and I have to say both games are amazing! But the soundtrack alone for this game is amazing I always have Twister stuck in my head.
That's because KH isn't meant to be an aesop with morals or lessons, KH is the telling of a (huge) story about how far friendship can get you, while TWEWY clearly is intended to have a message. Its unfair to compare the two, as both have different goals. Comparing the two would be like comparing a banana to a screwdriver.
The way TWEWY makes their messages are so much better than they do with kingdom hearts.

Even if you can't find this game on your app store of choice (I hear there were mobile ports at one time) you can still enjoy the TWEWY experience by downloading the app lemuroid or any other emulator. But UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you EVER download a rom for any game because it is ILLEGAL. oh I do so hope no one downloads a ROM for TWEWY so they can play it for free and have it change their life like it did mine
After this I'm really considering buying a DS and a copy of twewy for that bc it would be so, so worth it

but TWEWY is a Square Enix game and it's amazing, so I think they've shown they CAN be good at making more darker stories. eventhough KH 1 still had that BEST FRIENDS crap it did get very creepy at times like the ambiance of the Heartless' home world

I really don't get how this didn't become an anime series. the format fits an episodic serial very well. just set up every day to be a half hour episode. for some longer days, the last one especially, use multiple episodes. soon you've got a standard season worth, 24 to 26 episodes. and once it's all over, you release the Another Day OAV.

I was introduced to this game by one of my friends. I decided to give it a shot on DS. No regrets. This game is great, and I don't normally like RPGs

I haven't seen a game this good at setting the mood since TLoK/Soul Reaver or Star Control 2.
Why do I keep finding versions of this opening with the vocals slightly less high pitched? I like this version way better, but this is the only video of this version! When I played the game, the vocals were like this, so I don’t get how some of the other videos have that version, so can someone please tell me what that means?
Finally, a sequel is coming in summer of 2021
It's more like the first time you see it, it seems random and doesn't leave much of an impression one way or the other, but then once you beat the game you understand everything.

Wow, it's weird seeing this without the divider in the middle.
Yet, it is so much better, amirite? Although I do prefer the DS version over the iOS one.
But I always wondered how the video would be without that divider in the middle, so I'm pleased with this.
Those aren't black coats, but hoodies, like the ones used by the smaller Reapers in the game. So what you see reflected in Kitanji's glasses are characters from the game ;)

That's cool too . The Nintendo DS version is easy to use , but had freaking hard enemys (the same , but difficult) , and the IOS version is just a better looking of graphics and full sountracks.
i agree with XGrandlreX as much as i HATE how Square teased us with the timer i am glad that this will bring more people to TWEWY because it's more philosophical than KH could ever hope to be with more well rounded characters, backstories for most of them and just so much more effort behind it. ^.^ it's a beautiful game that deserves more love from people ^.^
